I've been going to the preferences tab for the last hour, never even read the text of the option below preferences.
This was a life saver ive been trying to animate for days now but with no way to copy and paste the frames it just wasnt working turns out i had to set these shortcuts myself and this helped

4:15. CTRL-SHIFT-ForwardSlash will Add Current comp to Render Queue. (or maybe CTRL-SHIFT-? is how it looks on the board.)
But if the command doesn't already have a default shortcut you can't map your own?
I swear I mapped "reveal in explorer" in a previous After Effects install. I edited a text file somewhere...

1) hold a new shortcut, it must be indicated on the virtual keyboard

is there any way to forcefully change a shortcut as im used to having S as Split and M as Marker but you cant change the function they have.

@@v4nka7aa no u can’t i’ve tried do many different ways, i just put S (for split) as D because it’s only one key and it’s right next to it, same with M (for marker) I put it as N
Doesn't work in AE 2017? Bummer.
Sadly not, they were really late to the game with this addition. It's been in Premiere pro since I believe the first CC update back in 2014. It took AE until the 2018 addition to get this nice dialogue. Otherwise you have to go edit some text files.

Somehow in AE I've lost the ALT magnifier function that toggles the magnifier tool into the TOTALLY ESSENTIAL zoom out command (or 'minus zoom') . Now when I ALT click the magnifier I get the camera orbit tool instead. PLEASE, can anyone tell me how to restore too the default "ALT minus zoom" tool? I've looked online of course and not found the answer. THANKS...
I would reset your keyboard shortcuts and see if that works. It won't remove the keyboard shortcuts you have created. Go up to the top left in the menu I show in this tutorial, drop down the keyboard layout default to After Effects Default.txt. This should reset things. See if it's still broken or not.

The key would seem to be to use shortcuts that are consistent and easy to remember when you need them, otherwise you'll end up defaulting to finding what you need by searching for it through the menus.
Yes definitely. If you are a person that jumps between different programs, evening out the keyboard shortcuts between programs would be important as well. So if you are using word and ctrl+y is redo, while all of adobe is ctrl+shift+z, it might be smart to change word to using ctrl+shift+z!
how do you go frame by frame in windows cause page up and down don`t work for me
