    Man, I was really hoping you would’ve asked that neighbor to borrow their leaf blower to get that sawdust 😂🤣😭

    Awesome job on your build. Fix bed is the way to go or a bed that lifts.
    We are not as talented as you are so we bought our van already fixed up.

      Thank you! We did consider a Murphy bed or happijack but logistically this was easier to build ourselves.

    Do you think the 2x6's are necessary? Would 1x6's work as well? Did you use them because of weight? My wife and I combined weight 250lbs so I'm thinking I'd use the 1x6's and then the 2x4's. Great build and you have given me a lot of ideas.

    Good work but you’re weighing down the vehicle by a lot using wood that much that thick . there are a few videos out there that they’re using the IKEA adjustable mattress brace. I would highly consider for you to use that much lighter and very strong and you can break it down.

    @leohummel8782 Před 2 lety

    Thanks again for the video. Yes, definitively, your frame is pretty solid. I like your idea of using hanger for the 2X4's. My build (once I get the van) will be very close to your. I am also 6'2" there is no room to spare but, since I already lost my hair on top the rubbing won't do no harm. I do have a question for you; what is the measurement from the top of your platform and how think of mattress are you planning for? Always looking forward to the next episode

    • @britandmike
      @britandmike  Před 2 lety

      Thank you! From the top of the platform to the floor is 32” tall. The measurement across the bed platform (including our window insets) is just over 75”. Is that what you meant or a different measurement? For the mattress, we are thinking between 5-7” of memory foam but haven’t picked anything out yet.

    Just wonder if you guys are weighing the stuff you are using to build your van and if you are also taking into consideration side to side loads? If you are? can you tell me how much weight you currently have in the build?

    Why do you use the blue tape for cutting?

    • @britandmike
      @britandmike  Před 2 lety +1

      It helps with tear out and makes the cuts cleaner!

    Maybe you should've cut the ventilation holes outside before installing them.

    • @britandmike
      @britandmike  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah maybe. But it was easier for us to be able to see how all of the pieces would be assembled with one another first and place the holes so that they aren’t on top of the cross supports

  • @aaallllen
    @aaallllen Před 10 měsíci

    How tall is Mike? I'm probably 6-3" in the morning and shrink down a bit during the day? I'm still in the pondering phase and am wondering about flare spaces.

    • @britandmike
      @britandmike  Před 10 měsíci

      He’s about 6’2.5”! We didn’t go with flares because we were pretty over budget, and we are fine without them, but they would be nice to have for the extra room (even for me and I’m 5’5” because the van curves inward toward the back).

    • @aaallllen
      @aaallllen Před 10 měsíci

      @@britandmike Thank you. The flares + install + paint matching looks expensive for sure. Just being able to fit doesn't leave room for a pillow or to stretch the legs/feet out (which I seem to do in my sleep). A front/back sleeping arrangement makes layouts strange. There's so much to plan for.

    Fixed bed= biggest waste of space. Aluminum built is stronger and lighter
