There are two VERY important bits of information linked to inventory items that are easy to overlook (one of which is the most important piece of information in the entire game). Both are near the end of the video (I've zoomed in on them to highlight them).
This video also covers all the hidden secrets and some cool bonus unlockables.
@@randomuser-xc2wr Haha, I only healed when it was absolutely necessary because the amount of healing items you use affects your final rating (you need S Rank to unlock the Wings)
Am I to assume she stole Harrison’s ID number and firearms expert moniker, and thats pretty much it? In order to assume the role of an officer at the start that is.
@legochef4071 Yeah, she stole his ID. The much more important reveal is the piece of paper Edward Crow gives to you before going into the pool though. It also links together with why the monsters keep writing that number and why they're so desperate to communicate to the people they meet. It's the most important piece of information in the entire game and very easy to miss!
@@AlphaBetaGamer OH MY GOD!!! You weren't joking about the letter. It changes everything
2106!!!
@MoogMonster554 Yeah, what's crazier is all of the clever little bits of foreshadowing that were hidden throughout the game that click together once you read that letter.
Spoilers
There's obviously the number 2106, but there's also other things like the unfinished area of the theme park that was cancelled, the message about the radio antenna in Tolman's office, the VHS videos in Tolman's office, the Mermaid quiz, the object that's on fire in the area with the piano. Even the very first thing you see in this game is a clue! (and I'm sure there are lots of other clues I've overlooked too).
Holy shit... The storytelling... My jaw dropped...
Yeah, that letter reveal is some god-tier storytelling!
oh god...this is equivalent of stripping copper wire from a machine thats supposed to save the world ... Great story 10/10
i love the lingering sense of dread it leaves you with. has the crisis been averted? is it an inevitable stable time loop? was it related to the guests, their infectious bacteria and the pool or something else entirely? who knows!
@@pharoahcaraboo9610 I think the note from Crow was translated along the lines of "By 2106, the world will be uninhabitable. We have come here in the year of 1988 to warn you"
I wish they made more games like this. It might not be a AAA game but it has the spirit of those from the past.
Granted it was definitely inspired by them, but over time most AAA lost that same spirit and heart; but these indie games keep them alive and well.
I hope it does well and they make more. I can see this being at least a trilogy!
The ending reveal that the world ends 2106 and going back to 1988 was the last chance to stop whatever happens is a great end game twist that leaves room for a sequel. I don't know if they will use the same characters but I would love to see another game in this setting.
I love the fact the heroine looks like a Playmobil figurine or an Animal Crossing villager. And also like young Fern from Frieren who picked up the most powerful school of magic: gun.
Or maybe she's the decentdant of fern?
@@thyknithatter152 Yeah, her attitude is very like Fern's, very stubborn. And so hungry all the time she digs through trash.
Only a zoomer or millennial would say that....oh.....nevermind. Yeah....she hair is the same colour as fern.
@@CatzyCatzy she also stole the outfit from Lightning from Final Fantasy 13, coincidentally also an infected, monster-loving turncoat cop.
the game just dropped and instantly became both a classic and a criminally underrated gem
41:50 The foreshadowing here is a bit too on the nose but still very clever.
Haha, yeah they did a very good job of dropping little clues like that. I actually missed that one!
those noises in the maze genuinely frightened me upon hearing them. I thought some electronic in the house was about to give out.
Follow-up from part 1. My observations will be going alongside the playthrough.
After the second meeting with Detective Harrison, our girl Mara states that he should leave here. This is definitely on purpose as it seems she has more of a purpose being here while Harrisson is unaware of the scope of the situation.
The video tapes remind me of the Yu Yu Hakusho chapter black saga in which depicts the concept of the "Black Tape" showcasing humans worst actions throughout history. Obviously, this was more designed for the puzzle to showcase the corresponding letters, but the idea of showing off humanities' worst mistakes definitely plays a theme in the games overall lore as to how we got here.
"Don't go down there, you'll regret it." "So be it" from Mara. Possible nod to Signalis and the fake ending? When Elster passes through the red gate?
Back with Arthur at the car. "The thing that hurt you, it hurt me too." Is our girl even alive??? So she knows about the validity of the injury and what it CAN lead to. The question isn't if she is a true detective for APD but rather to what extent does she know of the park itself and its past?
I love the environmental changes! Reminds me of Resident Evil and how once you hit the halfway mark, the mansion would alter, and enemies vary. Can be scene with the rain and how the crows in the distance react and how some rooms are now darker than before.
New shoes with some nice speed. Lore here was the note from "Dad" to his daughter presumably. Mara's hair is dyed as noticed by Tolman. I'm starting to think Mara IS or, at the very minimum, has some connection to the missing girl. The connection was with what she just told Arthur about the injury hurting and her knowing the pain. This happened years ago.
Third meeting with Harrisson. At this point, he knows Mara has insider info, but she refuses to say anything. Probably for the best.
The underground meeting between Marv and Tollman was comedy gold, BUT had a-lot to unpack lore wise.
Inside crows office was an awesome reference to RE's projector slides! Big lore development.
The ending - I have no words other than this game - is phenomenal. The storyline is well paced and never too complicated to follow. The environmental storytelling kept me excited to go and revisit older areas while also wanting more.
5/5
for me personally, this is game of the year!
Loved your thoughts on the game! :)
@@AlphaBetaGamer Just as excited to see how other's enjoyed it! figured ide give some perspective from a first responder's point of view and how well put the little details were in the game. Super good stuff! thanks for the upload ABG! ^^
This was an excellent part 2 to finish up the playthrough. Mara being revealed as Elaine was a twist that was played through great. Harrison being shot was sad and the ID forged over his made sense as she just wanted to prevent him from getting involved with getting involved with something that would've ended him either way, Guest or Marvin. Marv being pushed off the walkway was a twist of irony from the guy who was running from the cops U.S or Brazilian wise. As for Edward Crow, its a shame he had to go out like that. Him explaining over the phone he never wanted any of this. It just goes to show Edward was just a nice guy overall who had to shut down the park just to contain the guests. Judging by the fire axe in the elevator and such, The Guests would be smart enough to use them so the ladder was forced to be their only way of getting out of the pool. Shady practices with the gold? Yes but from what I gathered he possibly inherited the practices and such from his father as his dad bought Condor Country.
Nice synopsis! Did you catch the note at 02:11:40 though?
@@AlphaBetaGamer 2106 uninhabitable, 1988, final warning. If I remember correctly that's what it said. But yes I caught the note Crow gave Elaine. It was an warning from the Guest to Crow to knock it off before the events of Crow Country came full circle.
@@ThatNewZDude Yeah, kinda. I had a different take on it though. I added a spoiler comment below my pinned comment that explains it all (it's quite long!) :)
As far as surprise twists go, Mara being revealed as Elaine was quite obvious as soon as Crow said "didnt expect you to be back" in one of the phone calls he makes. That and the only young woman who would have a vendetta against Crow would be Elaine, since she's the only victim that was established. Still great but guessable even before half completion.
22:28 Man, look at the biceps on that little girl. Mara is JACKED!
Julie put on the captains hat ❤
Yes! I loved that she did that!
1:57:57 what a thrill
The amount of time you spend running around injured with your inventory full of medkits, and constantly passing over more medkits, honestly did something to me lol.
Haha, yeah I knew that would irritate some people! I did it because you need to use as few medkits as possible to get an S Rank (and unlock the wings), so I only used medkits when absolutely necessary.
@@AlphaBetaGamer makes sense. I was truly baffled as well. Though it was funny when Harrold was concerned about her in the Underground, she said she was fine, and immediately started limping all blood-soaked.
Same.
@@AlphaBetaGameroh god now devs encourage streamers (lack of) tactics
@@massgunner4152 Not healing for the best ending is a classic survival horror thing. All the old Resident Evil's did it too.
A teensy bit of SPOILER, but if you want to read something in the vein if the world the ending implies, read the "Drifting Classroom" manga. It's old, the style may put some off, it's wacky and beds logic at times, but it's a satire and won't let you stop reading with its dramatic cliffhangers.
It's about a school that gets transported into a hostile, desolate, devastated land filled with monsters. The kids try to reestablish order and a society, while the adults go bonkers and start to kill each other and then try to kill them. The reason why it is a wasteland is a major plot point.
Sounds really interesting! Thanks for the suggestion. Will check it out! :)
The game looks very good, they got right the aesthetic of "the console perfomance is limited, the screen is a ds/analog tv, the pixels are either going to make the game look bad or the blurring will be a useful tool". most old games look better in the screens they were designed for and i like it.
This… was one hell of a story. I loved it
SECOND PART LETS GO
I was very invested in the story from the first playthrough, glad to see it continue.
1:00:05 note: the fumes of industrial resin are extremely toxic (that's why you see people working with it in breathing masks on CZcams tutorials/project processes), and I get queasy when she just casually burns it away.
That letter reveal at the end is INSANE!!! I can't believe the devs had the balls to drop that info in something could be so easily overlooked. 2106!!!
Can you elaborate what it means aside from being a year number?
@@QuanPham-lq9ukHUGE SPOILER
The green pool is basically a portal to the future, the year 2106, which is in the midst of some kind of apocalyptic event. The "roots" were some sort of safety system to allow them safe passage so they could come back and try and warn people of what had once went wrong, but this failed because Crow had the safety mechanisms cut and harvested on the past's end, causing any future humans that came through the green portal to turn into monsters upon arrival. But since Crow was able to make a vaccine and cure everyone who got infected, the story ends on a melancholic hopeful note, as while the future human's warning wasn't in complete vain, there's still the chance of it all happening again.
@@basicaccount330 oh I know the whole thingy with the roots, was just asking if that number was any special other than the “Mankind is fucked” year
@@basicaccount330Pretty sure Crow was explicitly harvesting the roots to PREVENT people from coming through, since they carried the infection.
@@QuanPham-lq9uk It's the number written in blood on the newspapers at the very beginning of the game, so it came back around.
Honestly, I like the graphic design of the environment. Everything, especially the last area has the aesthetics of a pre-rendered still background image from the PS1 era with the same retro feeling atmosphere and charm.
I've been screaming USE THE MEDKIT !! for the past half hour.😂
Haha, yeah sorry about that! I had to use them only when absolutely necessary because if you use too many medkits then you miss out on the S Rank (and unlocking the wings).
@AlphaBetaGamer oooooohhhh my bad let me finish watching then 😅 . Love this channel. Keep up the great work 🙂↕️
@@AlphaBetaGamer also that "sniper"😂 at the end was really tryna finish you off
1:37:57 Of all the places to stick the rod they had to stuck it down there. No wonder the mermaids have a surprised expression on their faces...
58:27 Pingu the Penguin had to pay for his nooty crimes.
Not just style, but story is wild in a good way. Hope they made sequel or something like
1:26:55 My mom heard from someone who was a ship captain that they do wear them but only during special occasions, with the uniform. Normally they wear plain clothes, because the uniform would get dirty in the engine room and such.
I like that Julie ends up putting it on to operate the controls!
@@AlphaBetaGamer It is a special occasion afteralll: The last ride of Crow Country.
I really enjoy this. It is simple, not overly complicated, a well put together story. The final "villain" tried to redeem himself. The little save message had a nice deeper meaning, I thought that was a nice touch. And the ending had an ominous warning, but did not warn of what. It wasn't preachy either, I could easily see that being pushed in todays climate but they chose not to, and I respect it all the more for it.
Im impressed. the FF7 style worked. And it had lots of little bonus moments. Even new game gear. This is the quality of a AAA studio done by an indie group.
1:29:28 lol, Fern is sensing a mimic in that chest :D
41:49
pretty sneaky, sis
that twist in the end before the final boss
Man i like this game
The kind of simple but creepy game that doesn't rely to much on crisp 4K optics
Kind of a silly move to go to the past, bringing the highly infectious bacteria that ruined the future with you to warn the people of the past of the bacteria itself.
But I was kind of glossing over the playthrough instead of watching it in full so I may be missing some plot points.
It doesn't say for certain that the bacteria ruined the future. If anything the bacteria were probably mutated by the Pool the same way that the Guests were.
1:29:03
At least it wasnt a mimic.
It was so obvious about who she really was once you read the document plus the photo reveal from part 1
Yeah that twist starts to become pretty obvious the further you play through. The bigger twist (with the paper Crow hands you) I didn't see coming!
@@AlphaBetaGamer Oh yeah do you think that is hinting at a sequel?
What document?
@@hammylove821 SPOILERS: Julie asks Mara for help and on the table are 4 documents she puts down for Edward Crow The 1st document tells you the real name and the second document shows a picture of her as a teenager
Great game. Really loved everything about this title, totally hope they might make more of these.
I love after-game bonuses in games, that make me feel good, because you complete the game and deserve the present.
Oh my god the plot-twist.
Huh. Mara and I have the same birthday. Not year, but day and month. EDIT: oh wait oh god no
10:57 oh no, a turd golem
Ok, why is everyone except the guy from the beginning of the game just super chill?
They're full of drugs they found conveniently stashed in trashcans
Marvin isn’t that chill
YAY! i've been looking forward to this. it gives me Ds vibes
What an awesome game! I like how every question was answered in the end.
Finally part 2 just dropped, this game's interesting 😎
1:29:15 she didn't had to do it but she put on the captain hat, that detail's kinda cute for a horror game
Whoa. I love watching people play Horror/Survival video games. Crow Country has one of the best storylines and plot twists. Finding out Mara's true identity; why the mutated "Guests" exists and their purposes; the meaning behind 2106; the amusrment park's design; the written note Edward Crow gave to Mara (Elaine); and other story-telling elements rwally bought the game together. The ending, though..... Even though I knew it would end on a bittersweet note, it was still sad seeing the characters in the middle of nowhere consuming the vaccines Crow made so they could survive. I wonder if there'll be a sequel or prequel to the game?
This game is so beautifully made
I like the metal gear solid 3 reference.
This is awesome
Thank you!
im glad this got a second part

Lol, the mermaid quiz: several things caused the dinosaurs to end, with the final insult being the Asteroid, a cosmic finger to their crowning bad-luck achievement. By then, even before the damn thing hit, the choking fumes of the volcanoes, near what would become India, the dinosaurs were pretty much beaten.
Love a good survival horror!

This game is fantastic and so interesting I love it!
This is entertaining.
For the gold key you could of saved the flamethrower ammo by putting the acid in the sprinkler tank. Not sure if you noticed but I thought I'd add it for anyone using this as a walk though.

Can someone tell me how frequent/far are checkpoints? It's basically the only thing that makes me hold off from it
Hi! There are save points that you can return to at any time to save the game (every time my character stares into a fire in the video I'm saving).
Very cool looking game
Okay, the game was awesome, more like this please :D
Well done, Bobert.
Hey man, if you liked Crow Country probably give Sorry we're closed a shot.
These devs just published a demo which I think really is worth it, I liked it a lot!
Well, i watch this from the first to this video and i can tell this is a great game. Now we know the purpose of the pools and those "roots". So, the question is what if there's more of them? Waiting someone to find them? Well, only time will tell.
Anyway, those "4R3" artist... I got bad feelings about them if this game becomes too popular.
What kind of "agent" is Mara? She's interested in nothing the other characters have to say, often stating things as "looking boring," with the exception of a keyboard. She didn't know what an excavator was. She doesn't know or care about the model of her handgun (not everyone's a gun nut, but c'mon) She seems more like a child than anything, yet she has an ammo stash and a freakin' car. So strange.
Shes a teen lol
@@GraceofGod247She's probably like around 12.
Anime-tier logic
@@hammylove821 nope shes around 16
She’s not an agent, she stole Harrison’s ID and slashed his tires to impersonate an agent to gain access to the park

I know this sounds stupid but.... why didn't they just sell off the excess gold long enough to have enough cash for their own lifetimes and practically give it off to the government as protection....
I know greed can take you to alot shitty situations but there was such a thing as taking what you only need...
The gold is from Attenaes
The documents in game already explained it, they can't just sell more of their gold as it would raise suspicion from the authority.
