But Half the price you're paying is for the extra crap like pool, restaurant, gym, "security" (even though anybody can walk in). How often are you going to use the pool? Probably rarely and you could legit just walk to a fancy complex and walk right into most pools for free. The gyms are always trash and don't have all the equipment you'd need for lifting and they're no nicer than a gym you could pay $20/mo for.

I cherished my home and would have never thought of leaving it for Arizona. However, after retiring, I decided to sell my house and move to Arizona. Now, after residing here for eight years, I can confidently say that I love it. The city I live in Gilbert is cleaner than LA, and even the Beverly Hills area. The environment is greener, and despite being a desert, there are always flowers blooming, and the streets are free of litter. The people are also incredibly friendly. Although it's becoming more crowded with many Californians moving in, I'm still happy to call Arizona my home. The only downside is the increase in traffic, but overall, I'm content with my decision to move.
The monthly HOA fee for those high rise buildings in LA are not cheap. They can range from $800-$2000 for a studio unit in some high end high rise building. The Ritz in dtla have thousands of dollars monthly HOA fee even just for a small condo. If you deduct the HOA fee from it the rent is actually not that much, but as a landlord, of course this fee would be added to the rent. I have a 2 bedroom condo in LA and i know I can rent it out for over $5000 a month. yeah it is that expensive pretty much in the nicer cities in CA right now. My studio i had in SF back in 2015 was already $2800 a month I am sure now it's probably more than $3000 and it also does not include parking. A parking spot in SF are $250-$500 a month in SF depending on where, at least parking in LA are usually come with it with no additional cost.

It’s Southern California, if you want to buy and not rent you can purchase a small 900sq house for 700K. If you want something bigger 1800-2000 square feet you will have to pay well over 1 million USD. But you are buying weather, nice weather most of the year and entertainment all over the place. LA and so has mountains to go skiing 45min drive, beaches 45min drive or deserts 1.5hr drive. You basically have everything you need and want.
Most condos in the more upscale areas in LA that's about 900sq would already cost you over 1 million USD. 1800-2000 sq would be around 1.2-1.6 million USD now. There's some condos with the same sqft that's a bit lower in price but most of the times those also has over $1k - $3k monthly HOA fees. 1 million really hardly can get you anything in the decent areas in LA now.
