We flew on this aircraft from Nadi to LAX when it was new and were pleasantly surprised by Fiji Airways. The seats aren't Super Diamond Business class seat good, but I would say they are in the same league as the Qantas 747/A380 product of the era.
Looking at your footage the seats appear to have worn better than I thought they would being such a light colour.
Yep I would agree that the seats are probably on par with the QF A380/747 skybed mk2s although it's worth noting that they are also getting old and, in the A380 at
least, are getting replaced.
Great video Paul and I really love the new GoPro! I wish a few of the other youtubers followed your lead and good a smoother camera! Beautiful views coming across the coastline in Fiji too!

An interesting video and I really love the footage with the GoPro. It seems really clear and stable which i guess is the point of the gopro haha. It's a dated seat and I wonder if they'll put the seat from the A350 into this?
cheers. I did ask some at at FJ and they weren't aware of any plans to upgrade the A330 seat to the new A350 seat.

Cheers Pamela! Yep we're nice and close to a few great destinations although I'm always envious of North America and Europe being so close to... Europe haha. Such an amazing continent but sadly a 24hr flight from Australia. I've got some internal Fiji flights coming out later this week so you may enjoy those as well :)

Glad the service was better than on the other Fuji trip.. Just a question, do they have hand sanitizer? I mean you never know who touched what. Making a case about the TV remote. Primarily. This comes from when I got MRSA 5 years ago.
Hi Steve, I'm not sure about the sanitizer. The reality is that those serious bacteria, such as MRSA, only survive in environments that are very clean so by them not cleaning the aircraft too regularly with chemicals, the natural 'flora' will happily cohabitate with humans as they have for the history of the world. :)

Hi Paul thanks for the upload. After seeing your A350 report that looks like an alternate way to LA. The A330s (200+300) look really dated but I cannot fault the crew on their service which has been my experience. The GoPro seemed ok, except when there was a wider angle view with lighting contrast, it washed out. Like the view in the lounge (was ok) until you panned to the window, the cam adjusted to outside lighting which meant everything inside the lounge went dark. Just a heads up in case you didn't notice. I look forward to seeing more vids from Fiji ! cheers

This seat in a 2-2-2 looks a lot more comfortable than the 1-2-1 that Jeb Brooks reviewed on United 787-10. Funny how airlines can juggle with a given space that much.
Yeh I just saw his video and it looked like I had more headroom, BUT at least his seat did fold completely flat. These are still on an angle which would feel a little weird.

The only pacific airline I’ve flown on was Air Vanuatu
The only issue I had with them was a lack of hygiene but otherwise a great airline

Great review. A quibble at 6 min 50 or so you say you were flying away from a setting sun. Since you’re flying east you’d be flying into darkness yet you landed in daylight. Too many rums?

Depends which is closer to the galley as that will be a source of noise.
Paul slightly better than the A350 experience but in my opinion Fiji Air business class menu is cheap and lacking that something special.
Ive flowen on the older named Air Pacific over 30 times in the 80's and I always loved the Fijian hospitality as soon as you stepped aboard.
I do love the livery but having said that the A330 is looking rather tired.
Would I fly Fiji air maybe.
There are too many compeditors within the pacific ie Air New Zealand,Air Calain and Air Tahiti nui that take business class just that one step further.
Fiji Air needs to improve further it's business class menus,spruce up the livery and teach the cabin crew how to show "Loloma mai veti" translated from Fijian to love from Fiji.

Great Video again - love your reports. Not sure if anyone else has commented about this, but one plane in the Fiji Airways A330-200 fleet includes an older version than the business class product shown in your review. It is 2; 2, 2 across but only has 3 rows. We flew this from Sydney to Nadi in July, and while pleasant, it was in definite need of an urgent upgrade. We had the option to come back on the same plane, but went with Qantas economy instead on the 737-800 and saved the $$$$ for our next trip. I don’t know if upgrade since July (unlikely) but just a warning not all A330s are created equal. Ps. What happened to your platinum status - why roughing it in the business class lounge with the plebs like me ???
Cheers Paul! What are the seats like in that A332? Are they the even older recliner style? To be honest, at 3hrs it's easily comfortable enough to survive in economy. I only did business because the video would be more popular haha.
Sadly I've lost platinum and have to rough it in the business lounge haha. Thankfully my flights to Auckland and South America in March next year will get me back to Plat. :)

Actually, Air Fiji has some pretty big long-range aircraft. I would have expected little island hoppers, with the foreign carriers would do the heavy lifting, but no.
Yep I've reviewed their wide body A330 and A350 and my next two videos will be their island hoppers (ATR and Twin Otter) :)
I've watched your A330 and A350 Fiji videos and I'm not very impressed by either flight. I think Fiji has some work to do.

Not an FJ employee, with that said, you are correct, as I mentioned in the 350 video, I have been lucky enough to do a few flights on FJ this year, the crew issue on the 350 flight is something I have not come across, in the slightest, the hardware, yes the 330 seat is getting old, the real issue is the IFE which in both videos Paul sort of glossed over, but it needs more content, the food is either very good, or very bad. With a few tweaks FJ could be fantastic.
I did mention that the IFE has limited content :)

I think that’s a little harsh. For an airline whose majority shareholder is the government of a developing nation, I think they offer a very decent product. Most industry experts would rate FJ as one of the better carriers in the region, aside from QF and NZ of course. The majority of their routes are short haul flights throughout the South Pacific and their product reflects this. The new A350s are part of an increased focus on longer routes between Nadi, Tokyo and the west coast of the US. I’ve flown FJ many times (in both Economy and Business) and will happily continue to do so. Fijian hospitality is second to none.
A question to the congregation whats the best business class Denpasar to Brisbane have a return trip soon after a cruise...........

Sat in economy area for 11 hrs from SF to Nadi and was miserable. I’m only 5’10” and next to the window. The biggest issue was the seats were made of stone. I tell you is was like cement. My poor back side just could not get comfortable. I tried multiple pillows and alcohol while watching the 1st Star Wars movie hoping to fall asleep. No luck, twisting and turning all night. When we arrived in Fiji, I was surprised to hear my name over the loud speaker intercom in the airport. I was instructed to report to baggage area. “We’re sorry sir but your wife’s 2 bags of luggage are still in Sf do to a broken belt”. That’s just great, no sleep and now and upset wife. I need a drink fast. The luggage showed up 2 days latter.

I flew Fiji Airways on an A330-200 in Economy Class back in 2015 for a family trip to Fiji for a week. It was a great flight overall both ways.
The only downside was the screaming baby two rows ahead the entire 4-hour trip back home, though that’s no fault on the airline.
Fiji Airways has a habit of cancelling flight without advance notice . In my case they cancelled my flight SYD-NAD-LAX because one of the pilots was sick and the compensation was a paltry $300 per business class tickets which cost me $2500 one way ( they put me Qantas premium economy instead which cost Fiji Airways no more $1300 one way) Fiji Arways sucks do not fly with them
wow that's pretty poor! they definitely should have put you on business with another airline, and there's plenty of options to LAX!
