Cristal, here is another good tip. When you pull the laundry detergent tray out, look at the inside with a flash light. At the ceiling of the tray slot and you will find tons of mold and mildew in there. Took me about 2 hours to clean it when I first discovered it. Nobody ever bothers to look at the ceiling, they normally just look down the detergent reservoir well.

I actually put a service call in to have the bellow replaced because of the black mold on it that refuses to come off. That cost is $350.00. I've had the Maytag front loader for 10 years now. I tired what you did here and soaked some rags in bleach and let it sit for about 45 minutes and I was pretty shocked by what came off. There was black on the front bottom of the seal that has refused to come off for years. It actually came off. I did some scrubbing and now the washing machine is doing a normal cycle on hot with the rags and some bleach thrown in. I will be canceling the service call and saving $350.00. Even if there's a little bit of black left it looks way better than it has in years. Thanks Cristal.

If you want to prevent mold on the door seal run the drum clean cycle once a month and use backing soda and after each cycle leave the door and drawer slightly open to prevent mold so the air can circulate through the washing machine and that what everyone does including washing machine enthusiasts like me

Can also use laundry sanitiser if you don’t use fabric softener.
Bleach in an empty cycle and putting on 90 degrees is also good especially if your washer heats it’s own water as the temperature steps up the bleach really pulls everything out no scrubbing needed!

That is a good idea, let it soak for a while. I had pretty bad mold on an old washing machine that I got with the house I bought. I just poured a gallon of bleach into it and put it on heavy / max fill setting and ran that 4 times with hot / cold. That worked pretty well, it still had some residual bleach even after that, but it was mostly gone. The bleach somehow just dissolves the mold

I buy white vinegar by the gallon just fill up the bleach or softener dispenser with each and every load, takes the hardness out of the water you won't even need fabric softener anymore and it keeps all the pipes and the machines squeaky clean from soap buildup..Best thing you can do. Also put a cup of it in the dishwater standing up on bottom rack. Spot fee dishes, clean pipes and tub. If you do this with every single load there will be nothing to clean later

We just upgraded our machines, but the front loader I had previously was still in immaculate condition (7/8 years old)..... because I also wipe the rubber seal with a microfiber cloth every wash, and I NEVER leave the washer door closed, when laundry isn’t running.... it’s a perfect breeding ground for mold, to be sealed shut, still wet, after washing a load of laundry.
Simple and quick regular maintenance, keeps them perfect.......

A little tip for US housewives. When washing whites, simply add a small dash of Jeval or Domestos (chlorine cleaner suitable for washing laundry). Let it rinse with Water in the washing powder compartment for the main wash.

O sorry 😞 to avoid this problem with the mold in near future, my wife keeps the door open for a little while whipping up the excess water 💧and it works 😎👍
