I’ve always loved the design and appeal of an Airstream. Then you hear the price and just forget about it. 😂
Totally worth it they hold their resale value and no one will ever mistake you for trailer trash!
Thanks for all the information and video from this RV Show.
Great job and excellent information JD. Hope you enjoyed the show as much as I enjoyed the videos you shared.
We travel full-time in our renovated 1971 Airstream Sovereign. It is a beautiful and comfortable trailer. Show me another brand that will last that long.
Avion
instablaster.
A couple years ago I took the airstream factory tour. I wasn't convinced their construction was any better than the other manufacturers.
❤️Airstream❤️ Thanks for the awesome video!👍👍 I first fell in love with them in the 80s when my Grandparents had an International trailer & then an Argosy motorhome.
Great RV for people that don’t want to deal with slides. Outside of air stream is perfect and tight, no discrepancies.
Thanks for featuring our washers BTBRV!
Watching from Europe I think Airstream are perhaps the only company in the US making RVs with decent contemporary interiors. The other US RVs that I've seen all have interiors from the 1980s.
Good one Jeremy Clarkson but forest river, jayco, and grand design all have the exact same interiors.
@@cheesegrater231 Honestly they don't They all look geared for retired taste.
Tiffin has modern interiors.
@@cheesegrater231 I think he means tasteful contemporary interior
all the other ones look like u went to home depot , nail gun and inflatable couches
Great reviews and videos JD! Thanks for taking us along and I didn't have to leave my home.
The interior of the Airstream seems like the interior of a small jet,
Nice contrast to the interiors that looks like my grandmother designed it...
Yes small is the feeling..only in a tin can.Over priced tin can.
Love your videos! Not sure I would wash my Airstream with a rotating brush but that is a really neat machine. We looked at every travel trailer available for 2 years before ponying up the cash for an Airstream. We purchased a 2017 International Serenity 23D (Light glossy white interior) and love it. 15k miles and over 150 nights in just under 2 years. Worth every penny. Tows like a dream ( tow vehicle is 2013 Ford E150 XLT Premium van with Max Tow Package). I just installed the "Sulastic Shackles" on my van. Great product and really smooths the ride when not towing. Thank you for video.
2:37 Ladies and gentlemen, let's all revel in that one single moment in the history of the Airstream where the TV was placed in a sensible location.
Id put that scrubber in my shower lol excellent coverage of the show by the way
Beautiful trailers. They are quite heavy, but i love the interior design of these coaches.
Thank you for all the RVX videos. I know that had to have been a lot of work. Much appreciated!
Just sayin ...I bought my 77 30' airstream in 1998 for 6k and today with 3k in upgrades I could get 14k for it. Don;t wanna sell it as it is watertight lite and comfortable.
Radar NJ so good to hear!!! I love airstreams... who doesn’t, if they’re being honest... they’re just so darn $$$
@5:00 All I could think of is Korben Dallas' apartment. All that's missing is Leeloo in the AutoWash and some yellow circles on the wall.
rbstorms ☝️. Ah yes. The fifth element. Good movie.
If it comes with Leeloo I’ll buy one!!
Thanks for your time to give us a lot of information. hope to see your truck again with those new bumpers 👌
I do love the romance of an Airstream. It's hard not to absolutely love how they look and make you feel. Great video!
One thing I like about Airstreams is no slideouts
Thanks. Love the company.
I am picking up my 2019 Airstream Classic 30’ RBQ next week. I have always wanted one since I was very young. While most posts can not justify the price, I have always admired their construction, quality, look, and innovation. Yes I could’ve bought another RV and tow vehicle for the price, but I still would have wanted an Airstream. Your videos also assisted me in my choice of purchasing a good tow vehicle. After much research (months) I purchased a 2019 Ford F-350 Super Duty Limited dually with a Class VI AirSafe receiver hitch, and Equal-i-Zer sway control. This may be a bit overkill for towing a #10000 trailer, but I will be installing an Amerideck lift so I can haul my Harley Ultra Classic CVO in the bed when I go on trips. With all this being said, your videos have guided me in some decision making, and have made me a customer of Etrailer. Thanks for the videos!
Well i have to say that i enjoyed all the videos from the rv show. Very informative and there were some really nice rv’s you showcased.
I thought the all aluminum off road type trailers were really neat.
Thanks for the excellent coverage of the show👍
Airstreams are very nice for what they are. 2 months ago we sold our flying cloud bunk that we had for about 2 years. We sold it for $2k less than we bought it (we bought new). There is the value of the airstream. Try that with about any other brand. We ended up with a larger Jayco Eagle that fits our family better for 1/3 the price. Wish it had Airstream quality though.
@jorge rodi Most of the SOB's (some other brands) are worth about 50% of there purchase price after 2 years. Airstreams hold there value extremely well. Yes, they are a depreciating asset, like lots of other recreational items (boats, jet skis, motorcycles) but still remain the best at retaining value.
Really enjoyed all the videos from the show
The point is to make airstream give you the quality your paying for , I own a 2019 airstream, I sold my 2018 because of quality issues , great video
Airstreams are pretty iconic and hold their value well. They do very well on the peer to peer rental market and can pay for themselves.
They also keep their value better than others. Love the. airstreams!
i really liked those two tiny airstreams. I would love to rent one for a short vacation!
As a current Airstream owner I can say that compared to our last 3 non Airstream trailers, they were essentially built at a "Chinese sweatshop" Yes Airstreams are expensive but they definitely hold their value and are built to last for decades. How many other brands do you still see out on the road? Also, I get that Airstreams aren't for everybody and we looked at big Montana 5th wheels that were a pretty penny as well and there were already trim pieces coming apart at the dealership lot so no thanks! And if you wanna try and get into smaller campsites at state or national parks with a 32' plus with triple slides good luck! To each their own and style of camping but I don't feel that I need to bring my 3 bedroom house with me. Happy camping everyone!
Hi thank you for all what you do I wish some times you do the represent because you will tells us the good or bad and the businessman will not tell the bad thing thanks again keep up 👍👍
Another GREAT review by JD! I wanted to go to that RV show, as I live just north of SLC, however I found out it was only for dealers.
Great vid! All makes of tt,5th wheels and motor homes suffer in quality because of the push for more units pushed out.those Airstreams will still be on the roads 50 years from now. No one else can say that.
I had an Airstream for just over a year, a new Classic 33 similar to the one shown in this video at 2:30.
We had lots of problems with it, and TampaRV was useless. They did not respond to calls, would not assist on the telephone without repeated requests, and had a 4 month wait time for service.
I ended up selling the unit at a fairly significant loss, just because i got fed up with TampaRV specifically and all the problems we had with the water heater, the air conditioning units, and the 'firefly' automation system (which I don't think they use any more) and other things.
Regarding the Classic 33, there were some positives: I loved the separate desk area which allowed me to work and not pack up the desk when we needed to use the dining table, loved the huge bathroom at the back, and the fit and finish was very good. The best thing about the unit is the ease of towing (using an F250 4x4 Diesel). I could easily get to full highway speed while still on an on ramp and I was NEVER pushed around by high winds or when passing semi-trucks. And, the height / clearance is never an issue, unlike a 5th wheel.
you didnt do the airstream justice and on looked at the surface. you need to research deeper into what makes airstream unique: towing, weight, low center of gravity, aerodynamics, frame structure, suspension. consider cost and if its worth it compared to other manufacturers.
Wholeheartedly agree with you comment...
I agree also. Need details on the mechanicals below the floor.
AirSteam cannot be compared to other models,
NEW previously unseen Airstream Globetrotter 23’ FBT at 03:36. That’s a BRAND NEW Airstream Globetrotter model based on the 23’ Flying Cloud Front Bed Queen (we owned one). Airstream currently makes a 27’ and added a 25’ last year. The Globetrotter line has exceeded sales expectations and Bob Wheeler, CEO of Airstream said they’ll continue to expand the line. Looks like this is either a one-off or a preview of a 2020 model.
Good footage, thank you!
That polish machine was so pleasing to watch
Good review of airstream, thank you.
Really nice, I'd love to see there vision of a toy hauler. Thanks for sharing.
Love all the Airstreans you showed
Good channel, woud love to live in an Airstream
I am new to your channel and have been enjoying your videos. Totally digging this Airstream video.
I used many of those. Only to wash highway coaches, and semi trailers. Spray water, spin then applies soap on the first pass. The spin and rinse on the second pass.
I like the Airstream ... prefer the models with more windows. Pointing out Fit & Finish issues brings home the realities of ALL RV’s, nobody’s perfect & you still need to look over prior to accepting it. As for not having slides, kitchen islands, power recliners, squared edges for more storage ... “Keep it simple, Stupid” ...
Those first two Air Steams,
Cha Ching $$$$. Beautiful units. Thank you.
That intro was awesome!!!
i love how big the windows are
I love my 23 FB, well worth the wait.
Love them, a piece of old Americana that’s a beauty
I kept seeing signs for this and drove passed the salt palace where it was held probably 2 dozen or more times, wish I would have gone, looks like I missed a lot!
Gorgeous. If you can afford the hefty price tag, there’s nothing comparable. 🤩
I respect the quality builds of the airstreams but I could never justify the price they charge for the space
Airstream are design to last longer after several 100, 000 of miles. Buy a used one and you will understand the value.
@@videopyc I understand this which is why I respect the quality of the build. I just wish companies made large 5th wheels with this quality of build considering I'm a full timer. Space is valuable
@@mrsdargin2006
True and there are more fifth wheel four seasons approved. Airstreams are not. So there's that.
Certainly a trade off for every trailer we buy.
@@rxonmymind8362 Yup. We have an Artic Fox 5th wheel, 2010 24.5, and love it. It is a genuine 4 season unit.
We've travelled and camped in it for 87 weeks now in the Rocky Mountains, many times at -20 degrees plus. The furnace cycles about every 20 minutes at most and nothing ever fails. The fit and finish are superb with no trim failures or separations. All the plumbing and tank spaces are heated and never freeze.
It is very comfortable to camp and live in, tows great and fits FS camp spaces without using a pull through.
It's a great size for undeveloped dispersed camp areas that are tight to get in to as well.
@@wyominghorseman9172 I will think of you when I am in my beautiful Airstream in South Florida in January. Why would anyone want to spend time in an RV in sub-zero temps? That is why it has wheels, so you can go south for the winter. Yep, my Airstream is not a 4 season Rv. Of course I didn't buy it to freeze my buns off in the winter. Just chasing that perfect 75 degrees!!
My dad always called Airstream campers the “Cadillac of campers.”
You can get a massive fifth wheel for 80k and a f550 diesel dully for 70k and still come out cheaper
Wayne Rhea
Lots of people love the 5th wheel, Home Depot/Motel Six look and “ambience”!
Wayne Rhea
Yup, your cheap!
Apples and oranges. Your fifth wheel will be toast in 10 years Airstream can keep going over 70 % still on road... You do the math
My friend did just this. I'm NOT saying it's indicative of all trailers & truck but his roof leaks every winter, Ford F250 truck needed a cab off repair to the tune of $$$$ thousands.
Another co-worker actually .y supervisor had his Ford in for engine repair $1900 and three other co-workers have their 40' trailers chasing a leak of some kind. This was what I observed BEFORE buying a trailer. This made me buy an 23' Airstream and has been bullet proof this far being parked all winter on the coast through the worst. I mean, ripping rains like mini typhoons, hail ( baby hail THAT had me cringing) and rocking winds. So far so good.
Talk about efficient too. ONE 180 watt Zamp solar panel has kept me going to run everything. There was this two week stretch of rain with hardly any sun that had me reaching for the generator but luckily that Monday a little sun bumped up the battery to 100%. I was limping along there.
But no need for a generator this far.
Again, a 40' compared to a 23' isn't really fair in terms of efficiency but in terms of build quality outside, those aluminum skins are pretty thick and should last a decade or two. Can't say that of any other RVs out there.
Airstream's basic designs haven't changed since the 1940s. I mean, how many different ways can you arrange a dinette booth, 1/2 kitchen, tiny wet bath and a bed in a trailer with no slideouts? If they ever update the design with modern floorplans/slideouts, modern ceiling heights, and modern large usable storage, I might be interested. Until then, they're just boutique trailers for weekend camping.
Another aluminum trailer Is the Bowlus Road Chief. Different yet very pricey like the Airstream.
Great side business!!
You too can scratch up your expensive aluminum rv
whiteandnerdytuba It's a professional grade swirl mark installer!
The one thing you have to always remember Airstream is not a home it's a travel trailer.
Have you ever done a review/ walk thru of the 20 or 21 sandpiper 38fkok? I enjoy your channel & your reviews. The one on what your truck can tow was really helpful.
That globetrotter model is brand new. Looks like a 23 globetrotter which isn’t yet released. Pretty cool.
Wish you could’ve done more of an in depth look at the technology trailer so we could see what the insides look like and all the specs but I love where the technology is going and I can’t wait for the future
We plan to buy a 25’ Airstream Globetrotter within a few months.
That brush thing was veey cool
Wells done.
Actually looking at the ATC trailers, love Airstream, but will need a toy hauler.
That one with the projector screen is cool
I've always loved the shape and design of the Airstreams since i was a little kid; Driving past the plant headed up north on I75 in Ohio; they were THE camper trailer; even in Old Warner Brothers cartoons. what did Elmer Fudd pull up in? Airstream! i think even Goofy and Donald used them as well til they figured a pop-up A-frame would be a hell of a lot funnier to watch them setup.
All that being said i had always thought that thanks to the shape of these there really deserved to be a class-A pusher style in the lineup; i could just imagine that 'fuselage' eating up the miles so efficiently.
I saw a 1979 model for sale that was completely overhauled inside to a relatively warm, modern state and i was totally enamored. still wish i got that one as reality tends to strike when i see the insides of most of these units and kinda loose interest in the "so euro it hurts" aesthetic and the "YIKES" price in any of their models that are more than 22' and haven't been sitting on a dealer lot for almost 2years.
Ha... Their secret is out! Sweet! Open the lockers!!!!!! #3 is my taste. I love the Nest... I think all electric!
Very interesting, just subscribed
Love airstreams,but not the price
Do any of them come with a slide out?
Very honest review. For the price, fit and finish needs to be a lot better. Lots of gaps in cabinets, and the rivets need to be stronger. Layouts and aesthetics are great. Things like the propane boxes, blinds and HVAC vents are flimsy and have sharp edges. They aren’t built like they used to be.
Thank you
I like how you tell us how even in airstreams there are fit and finish issues . That is mass production for you .
I went to the factory, and they are hand made. All 33,000 rivets.
@@beingfrank3321 . Still being mass produced in a hurry . Things will be missed . Fit and finish will having to be dealt with at the dealer
The Airstream Dream. I've been dreaming it all my life, and now, I am only 3 years from retirement, and I'm ready to make it reality. I sure would like to know the MSRP on these.
The big ones are around the 150k mark STARTING.
What's the wash bot price
Loved the wash/polisher unit. Not the biggest fan of AS. Chevy: sorta ok. Great coverage series, JD. Y'all Be Safe!
How much headroom do they have? I wish they made a toy hauler type trailer.
Airstream is not afraid of colour at least. Much , much better than beige and brown which is pretty much all you see.
Hey wanted to say thanks for the video's of the show and all the other videos you do. Very cool stuff. Really enjoy all your videos. Keep them coming 🙂
Thanks! Very much appreciated
They are nice till it is hot or cold, poorly insulated
Yes, sir--thin walls, and aluminum transmits temperature like nothing else and short circuits every "winter package" they try to offer. Truly a mild-season camper. A poor guy on the Airstream owner's group had apparently been encouraged otherwise and tried to get a classic model through a winter in Alaska. It didn't even get below the teens before he had frost developing on the inside at the rivet points and the door freezing shut on him despite the heat inside. They're really about the stylized aesthetics and name recognition impressing people and therefore holding good resale value.
NOT worth 4X the cost IMO. That extra $60K is A LOT of trips and gas money!!! We looked and wound up with a 30' Grand Design for $27K brand new and really like it!
The problem with RV trailers is the lack of quality across the board. Airstream is known for high quality trailers. So there is a justification imo.
This video is a world premiere of the 2020 Globetrotter 23 FB Twin, and they guy making the video didn't even noticed hehehe
If I was to down size from my Class A Phaeton I would buy the Airstream
who doesn't want an airstream, hells yeah Fat City !!!😁
Out of all the interiors you showed, I liked Lance Travel Trailers the best.
Lance sucks..dont buy one. Slide failed before we even towed it.
For the price of the campers, you can stay in top rated hotel rooms for at least 2 weeks or 3 weeks out of the year Payment taxes insurance.
Re: Chevy 2500 "...kinda makes it look okay..." 'nuff said.
None of the 2020 HD's are a styling win.
Very nice
I like them. They’re built a small amount better then others. No slides, no storage space, small living area. Price tags are just way way too high for what you get.
Years ago, Thor industries was started for one simple goal, buy out Airstream. For the most part they left the company alone for a number of years to go about business as usual, but rite around the mid-2000's they made the decision for Quantity over Quality. They now build the trailers 4 times faster, and it shows. Still nice coaches, but your in the $100-150K range, even for a smaller 25-27' wide body model. Itching $50k+ for Nests and Bambi's. Resale value is also not nearly as good as people praise, and every single one of them over 10-15 years has some level of sub-floor problems due to design issue leaks. Don't get me wrong, the Airstream 25FB is one of my favorite US Bumper Pull floor plans, but if buying new, I would almost certainly buy a Bigfoot, Lance, Oliver or Escape at 1/2 - 1/4 the price.
You are incorrect about many things that you stated here.
@@sealevel274 - Yeah, most people commenting on here don't know what they are talking about when it comes to Airstreams. But pointless to attempt to correct them. It is safe to say though, that Thor seems to be awfully proud of them at the moment to get what they do.
It's nice looking at interiors, and Airstream definitely has the best, but try focussing on the areas that makes Airstream superior to other manufacturers.
The interiors used to be wood with rounded corners and now are white plastic laminate?
Nice video, Airstreams are really nice looking trailers. If you can, take a look at some of the Lance trailers, they seem pretty nice. If you can, take a look at some of the Winnebago's too. I'd like to hear more about the MicroMinnie fifth wheel's. They seem to advertise them to people with Mid Size trucks, like the Chevy Colorado's.
I deliver travel trailers for a living. IMHO airstream are the best made of the travel trailer. I prefer smaller trailers since I am a single person. Someday I hope to be able to afford the base camp. I like that one a lot.
Airstream enthusiast: Slobber, drool, I want one!
Everybody else: Meh.
If I had that buffer/wash unit, I would use it on random things and get in trouble...
