Fun fact: CZcams never supported 5.1 ever, but will do first on TV's sometime in 2021 and will require a monthly paid sub. Also. Chrome supports 5.1 sound by default, but CZcams in Chrome have 2.0. This is why this test is in stereo.
Ahh, that might explain why my surround sound headphones don't sound surround sound on this test. Though they might still be bunk... I suspect that 7.1 sound headphones are BS unless you have multiple drivers.

Long time ago I got myself $400 surround system which sounded crappy, BUT and can hear audio from all speakers on youtube. When I upgraded my system and spend over $3000 for it, the sound is fantastic now, but I realized the youtube was only upmixed on my old crappy system and wasn't real
I've had this video saved in a playlist for a long time. I can confirm that CZcams used to play this with 5.1 surround (2017). I used to get the LFE channel, and the rear channels were coming from the rear. This is no longer the case on my same setup. One day 5.1 was turned off (turned to stereo only). I was really disappointed. I used to get 5.1 sound from CZcams (Samsung TV, Bose soundbar with rear speakers). I just read something that maybe 5.1 is back. I'll test tonight and update if it's working properly again. If I don't re-post, it's still in stereo only.

What player are you using to play the downloaded file? What player really uses the 5.1 surround you need to? I have Z906 via Optical cable but having a working 5.1 effect is so difficult :(
5.1 is working for me. I’m getting proper surround sound again. CZcams Premium user here. I haven’t tested without Premium yet. But this 5.1 demo is sounding fantastic again. I’m not sure when CZcams brought 5.1 back, but I think it just happened recently. I tested this through Apple TV CZcams app and it worked. Samsung CZcams app still isn’t in 5.1 for me.
for those really trying to test your 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound receivers or headphones/headsets. don't use these video's on youtube for testing surround sound. youtube downmixes them to stereo after their uploaded. have to find other ways of actually testing. thanks to the uploader for these though none the less.
@@jardel4004 Yeah, it's why i said to not use it for surround sound testing lol. CZcams only does stereo even on 7.1 audio, after it's uploaded it's down mixed to stereo or left and right. To find a proper audio test, google "surround sound test" and scroll til you see a link that says "AAC multichannel playback test" that site actually has audio files for both 5.1 and 7.1, have to scroll down for 7.1 on that site.

For some reason. (I'm testing my headphones by the way) but the sound from the left is coming out of the right side and the sound from the right is coming out of the left side. I know I have them on the right way around by the way. I'm not dumb. In less the headphones were labelled wrong...

CZcams only supports stereo. The only way to get surround sound with youtube is to encode the stereo with Dolby pro logic II and then decode it with a receiver.
This works for me. 5.1 rear speakers enabled only when they’re suppose to. Have Bose soundbar 700, bass module 700, and Bose wireless rear surround speakers
gaming headsets are trash expensive bad quality sound in most of them and this build in sound cards are trash better get good amp or dac and cheaper non gaming headset like some superlux model and fiio dac/amp this 5.1 or 7.1 in gaming headsets are virtual you ca get it on any headset .... i can hear all just not lfe but its youtube falut even on 30$ superlux headset with i bet much better quality of sound and bigger scene than you got in yours
but their quality is shit compared to a real pair of headphones (I mean the quality of the materials.) Headseats tend to 'die' after a few months / years, and there's almost no chance to get spare parts. But studio headphones come with a long warranty, a great support for spare parts and stuff. Other than that they're great for gaming, too. Because they don't come with a buit in EQ, they do not modify the sound as much as other headsets do, you might get an advantage because of this (because headsets tend to boost the bass and the peaks, but almost clear out the mids, which can cause you to not hear certain sounds as well as on normal headphones). But for pure entertainment (such as movies or videos), you'll miss the bass, as studio headphones try to sound as 'natural' as they can get (so you hear what the actual audio sounds like). You won't have huuge explosions and stuff. Oh, and if you get yourself a decent pair of headphones, you need a mic. All in all it might get more expensive. But that comes with advantages, too. If your headphones break, you can keep your mic, if your mic breaks... etc. And a decent mic is also capable of recording instruments or voice (if you want to do voice over or commentary). And external high quality mics last forever, if you're careful enough. Not trying to be a dick and no h8 m8, plz. I used many gaming headsets myself, but I'm glad that I made the change.

So many people know little yet comment. Working here through pioneer atmos receiver from samsung 4k hdrTv via HDMI ARC. Sometimes you just need proper equipment and decoding.
I could get 5.1 audio with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi xtreme gamer with 'CMMS 3D' set to 'Stereo Surround' and with chrome://flag#try-supported-channel-layouts turned on. But yet no separate LFE. Also setting "Stereo envelopment" to '50' gave best result I think.
This worked perfectly, all 5.1 with LFE on my 1st gen Chromecast plugged into a Yamaha rx-v377 hdmi input, then out through hdmi to a Samsung 55inch. The Yamaha signal info displayed, pcm 3.2.01 Amazing! I have not found another You Tube video that outputs real surround sound. I did find a dolby plus video that decoded correctly though.
100% works only if a sound card is in your pc, with my test . On board 5.1sound, it doesn't not work. through 5.1 speakers with on-board ausus strix z370f motherboard. Test with same board and a sound blaster xae-5, i get true 5.1 with this video. odd considering people say 2.1 is the only format for youtube. to elaborate, every speaker with the card is independent, as the video plays with the card in With the simple on-board sound, no.. it comes through the front 2 speaker and the sub only on my 5.1 setup. sorry, Must also note firefox only does this. Google chrome seems to use all speakers with the card in (ie 2.1 through 5.1, speaker fill), and only the two fronts with it out. I hope to test some more, or if people have sound cards floating around, please test yourselves. All i can hypothesize is, the card software with the soundblaster in; is trying its best to perform 5.1 from 2.1, however it does work oddly enough.

This is my go-to every time I mess with my home theater setup, because I know that it "just works". What's strange is that on my Windows PC, viewing this through any browser only uses my front speakers. But taking @TimoPaschke's advice and downloading the file locally results in true surround sound. Weird.
When the sound test comes to Left (and Right) Surround, my Left (and Right) Surround produce appropriate sound, BUT simultaneously so do my Left (and Right) FRONT speakers. Isn't the front supposed to be silent when the surround sound is playing? Is there something wrong with my setup? I use Dolby Surround setting in my AVR which connected by optical cable to my PC.

As far as I'm aware, CZcams supports 5.1 uploading but mixes it down to stereo. If you somehow get surround from your end then your machine is duplicating the L and R channels to the Rear L and Rear R channels.
CZcams does support 5.1 streaming, if you are using chrome on a PC, go to chrome://flags and enable experimental audio channels (something like that), which will allow any website (including CZcams) to be able to play 5.1 (or any amt of channels supported by your system).
Totally works on iPad AirPlay to Roku TV, but of course doesn’t work on Apple TV 4K AirPlay using the same AVR. In the latter config, the rear surrounds play through the front speakers with no sound whatsoever from LFE or rears.

Just would like to ask a question, I just finished connecting my samsung 5.1 dvd home entertainment system to my devant 4k tv via optical cable. sir, my problem is this, test came from a vid in youtube for the 5.1 test, left front speaker is ok, center speaker has no sound, center speaker test is coming out of right speaker, right speaker is ok, left and right surrounds have no sound, sounds are coming out in the left and right front speakers.... Its a little bit late, but for people who read this: CZcams compresses audio to a stereo signal. Search in google for a 5.1 or 7.1 testaudio file and play it on a player that can play suroundsound audio.
xX Mike101 Xx Your subwoofer propably connected like a normal subwoofer. There is some difference between LFE and normal subwoofer. Mine av receiver with 4 subwoofer outputs, 2 LFE and 2 subwoofers. And both subwoofers with 3 inputs and 1 exit. Low and high input( LFE will not work with those) LFE input and exit onto FR/FL in case if I'm using high input when no subwoofer exits in the back of any old amplifier.
Here’s some more insight into my findings. As a CZcams Premium subscriber, I’m getting 5.1 surround. You can tell by going to “Stats for Nerds” and looking at the codec. The last part is the audio codec. If it says ec-3, it’s a surround sound encoding. A lot of the 5.1 demos here on CZcams are not offering ec-3 (at least not yet). I’m also getting a new surround button in settings. Of note, when I log out of Premium the ec-3 is not available. I use Premium to avoid the ads. But I would also use Premium just for this added 5.1 support. I hope to see more videos offering it in the future. Maybe they’re just rolling it out now.

CZcams's 5.1 surround sound is only available for streaming TV and movie content, unlike the typical CZcams videos (which only feed audio into two channels). Moreover, it won't be available on every show or movie you watch.

Download the original video in the description. CZcams took the 5.1 signal and down-mixed it to stereo. They threw out the LFE channel in the process.

I Have as SAMSUNG KU6300 to a SONY 2100 Home Theater and it does work 5.1 completely separate on the 6 speakers
However that would not be a discreet 5.1 sound. Your receiver / amplifier / system is just doing a matrix of a stereo signal.

That's what I want when I watch my movies on Blu-Ray and DVD.
For me, the sound effects & vocal dialogue is recorded in 5.1 surround sound.
The music however, is recorded in stereo.
My studio headphones work great with this video thnx

This works for me. 5.1 rear speakers enabled only when they’re suppose to. Have Bose soundbar 700, bass module 700, and Bose wireless rear surround speakers

gaming headsets are trash expensive bad quality sound in most of them and this build in sound cards are trash better get good amp or dac and cheaper non gaming headset like some superlux model and fiio dac/amp
this 5.1 or 7.1 in gaming headsets are virtual you ca get it on any headset ....
i can hear all just not lfe but its youtube falut even on 30$ superlux headset with i bet much better quality of sound and bigger scene than you got in yours

but their quality is shit compared to a real pair of headphones (I mean the quality of the materials.) Headseats tend to 'die' after a few months / years, and there's almost no chance to get spare parts. But studio headphones come with a long warranty, a great support for spare parts and stuff. Other than that they're great for gaming, too. Because they don't come with a buit in EQ, they do not modify the sound as much as other headsets do, you might get an advantage because of this (because headsets tend to boost the bass and the peaks, but almost clear out the mids, which can cause you to not hear certain sounds as well as on normal headphones). But for pure entertainment (such as movies or videos), you'll miss the bass, as studio headphones try to sound as 'natural' as they can get (so you hear what the actual audio sounds like). You won't have huuge explosions and stuff. Oh, and if you get yourself a decent pair of headphones, you need a mic. All in all it might get more expensive. But that comes with advantages, too. If your headphones break, you can keep your mic, if your mic breaks... etc. And a decent mic is also capable of recording instruments or voice (if you want to do voice over or commentary). And external high quality mics last forever, if you're careful enough. Not trying to be a dick and no h8 m8, plz. I used many gaming headsets myself, but I'm glad that I made the change.

But then again I didn't click the link. I'm not a big link clicker. Then again, He cannot provide PCM on a download only LPCM so I suppose that is a failure.

So many people know little yet comment. Working here through pioneer atmos receiver from samsung 4k hdrTv via HDMI ARC. Sometimes you just need proper equipment and decoding.
I could get 5.1 audio with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi xtreme gamer with 'CMMS 3D' set to 'Stereo Surround' and with chrome://flag#try-supported-channel-layouts turned on.
But yet no separate LFE. Also setting "Stereo envelopment" to '50' gave best result I think.
I didn't expect it to work but it totally does on my roku tv, full separated 5.1
And this is the only CZcams video i can find that actually gets receiver to switch to 'Dolby digital'

This worked perfectly, all 5.1 with LFE on my 1st gen Chromecast plugged into a Yamaha rx-v377 hdmi input, then out through hdmi to a Samsung 55inch. The Yamaha signal info displayed, pcm 3.2.01 Amazing! I have not found another You Tube video that outputs real surround sound. I did find a dolby plus video that decoded correctly though.

On board 5.1sound, it doesn't not work. through 5.1 speakers with on-board ausus strix z370f motherboard.
Test with same board and a sound blaster xae-5, i get true 5.1 with this video. odd considering people say 2.1 is the only format for youtube.

With the simple on-board sound, no.. it comes through the front 2 speaker and the sub only on my 5.1 setup.
sorry, Must also note firefox only does this. Google chrome seems to use all speakers with the card in (ie 2.1 through 5.1, speaker fill), and only the two fronts with it out.
I hope to test some more, or if people have sound cards floating around, please test yourselves.
All i can hypothesize is, the card software with the soundblaster in; is trying its best to perform 5.1 from 2.1, however it does work oddly enough.

It's a bass, it's what makes everything shake.
This is my go-to every time I mess with my home theater setup, because I know that it "just works". What's strange is that on my Windows PC, viewing this through any browser only uses my front speakers. But taking @TimoPaschke's advice and downloading the file locally results in true surround sound. Weird.
When the sound test comes to Left (and Right) Surround, my Left (and Right) Surround produce appropriate sound, BUT simultaneously so do my Left (and Right) FRONT speakers. Isn't the front supposed to be silent when the surround sound is playing? Is there something wrong with my setup? I use Dolby Surround setting in my AVR which connected by optical cable to my PC.
Haha, same thing, ive been playin some games and was so confused by the sound from front speakers, when i clearly was shot from behind, still trying to find solution. Using reciver which makes things more complicated....

As far as I'm aware, CZcams supports 5.1 uploading but mixes it down to stereo. If you somehow get surround from your end then your machine is duplicating the L and R channels to the Rear L and Rear R channels.
CZcams does support 5.1 streaming, if you are using chrome on a PC, go to chrome://flags and enable experimental audio channels (something like that), which will allow any website (including CZcams) to be able to play 5.1 (or any amt of channels supported by your system).
Yeah, that doesn't help people on streaming devices, even in 2021.

Totally works on iPad AirPlay to Roku TV, but of course doesn’t work on Apple TV 4K AirPlay using the same AVR. In the latter config, the rear surrounds play through the front speakers with no sound whatsoever from LFE or rears.

Just would like to ask a question, I just finished connecting my samsung 5.1 dvd home entertainment system to my devant 4k tv via optical cable. sir, my problem is this, test came from a vid in youtube for the 5.1 test, left front speaker is ok, center speaker has no sound, center speaker test is coming out of right speaker, right speaker is ok, left and right surrounds have no sound,
sounds are coming out in the left and right front speakers....
(nothing is coming out of both left and right surround speakers)

Its a little bit late, but for people who read this: CZcams compresses audio to a stereo signal. Search in google for a 5.1 or 7.1 testaudio file and play it on a player that can play suroundsound audio.

Your subwoofer propably connected like a normal subwoofer. There is some difference between LFE and normal subwoofer. Mine av receiver with 4 subwoofer outputs, 2 LFE and 2 subwoofers.
And both subwoofers with 3 inputs and 1 exit. Low and high input( LFE will not work with those) LFE input and exit onto FR/FL in case if I'm using high input when no subwoofer exits in the back of any old amplifier.
LFE works for me

Here’s some more insight into my findings. As a CZcams Premium subscriber, I’m getting 5.1 surround. You can tell by going to “Stats for Nerds” and looking at the codec. The last part is the audio codec. If it says ec-3, it’s a surround sound encoding. A lot of the 5.1 demos here on CZcams are not offering ec-3 (at least not yet). I’m also getting a new surround button in settings. Of note, when I log out of Premium the ec-3 is not available. I use Premium to avoid the ads. But I would also use Premium just for this added 5.1 support. I hope to see more videos offering it in the future. Maybe they’re just rolling it out now.

CZcams's 5.1 surround sound is only available for streaming TV and movie content, unlike the typical CZcams videos (which only feed audio into two channels). Moreover, it won't be available on every show or movie you watch.
