Rainy day here in Nottingham UK and CZcams suggested your video. Really enjoyed it and watched a few more. I liked how positive you are despite the sometimes rubbish food and weather! I especially liked your discovery of Greggs and Wetherspoons! Hope you get to come back and see some more of the country and find some “local” food.
You should really visit the Falkirk Wheel and Kelpies in the Helix Park of Falkirk. Falkirk is a short train ride from Edinburgh (20 min) and these sites are free and spectacular! Also, take a local bus to Rosslyn Chapel (about 30 mins out of Edinburgh). Remarkable stone masonry!!!
Make sure to pronounce everything RIGHT or the entire UK population will come after you 😉 There are much bigger problems in this world but they are VERY stressed when it comes to pronunciations.
Yorkshire is my neck of the woods. Some recommendations for Leeds & York: If you want to try a good pub in Leeds, try Whitelocks, very old and quaint. Don't miss all the Victorian shopping arcades in Leeds too, off Briggate. When in York you have to try Betty's tea rooms, there is a big queue for a reason. Nice walks along the walls & the river.
York, Oxford and Bath. Not bad....... We are very fortunate in the UK to have so many wonderful places of history and interest on such a small island. I was married to an American lady and lived in Dallas (also Irving and Frisco) from 1995 thru 2006. I think y'all are doing a great job. I find your vlogs very interesting. Less is often more when it comes to filming and your short clips are ideal. Of course I'm very biased, but my number one plus for the UK is that you can go from beautiful beaches, gorgeous countryside to fantastic historical buildings, quaint villages and modern cities in such a short period of time. I remember my first "trip" from Dallas was to Austin and that was around 5 hours drive iirc. In 5 hours in the UK you can see so much..... Happy you are enjoying your time over here and btw I've been a huge Cowboys fan from a very young age. That was the main reason I chose Dallas over San Francisco back in 1995 when I had a choice of where to work when moving from the UK.
Great video. Interesting to see how you view the UK cities 👍 Bath and Oxford is stunning. Bath is not to far for me and some done a couple of street photography videos of Bath and a bit of drone and photography over the city of Oxford.
Did you go to Rose Street? Lots of pubs and bars down there. Rose Street brewery, best pint I've had, Auld Reekie 90 shillings. Another enjoyable video. Thank you
Nice vids from your whistlestop trip to Scotland. Quick word to the wise though - middle lane driving is badly frowned upon in the UK (and can be dangerous) :)
😮 The Stadium is in fact the esplanade the seating is used during the Edinburgh Tattoo and dismantle after the Tattoo The one o’Clock gun was for the shipping on the Forth to set their time and aid navigation. You missed the Cafe 6a Nicholas Street and Balmoral Hotel Rm 625 where HP was written and finished
As a Scot the gothic like monument is the Scott Munument which sits on Princes street gardens and seen all along one of main streets in Edinburgh Princes street As for Castle it sits on Royal Mile or High Street and many touristy shops stores all way down the 1mile long street and bars ...You should have went down Grassmarket when there also ..
Tay do you know Sir Sean Connery the actor who play James Bond first time in movies back in 1962-1971 he was born in edinburgh as well in 1930 he died in 2020 in bahamas, do you find anything related to him a street name, statue or any other thing which named after him there?
The stone rocket never really caught on, or took off, so they changed it to a memorial honouring Sir Walter Scott who wrote lots of adventure stories like Ivanhoe, Rob Roy....etc.
And here i thought Canadians said Loch Lamonde because of the French influence in Canada.. but hearing an American say it that way also warms my heart 😂. You’ll learn that things in Scotland are often pronounced exactly as written.. and other times not (Cockburn street).
You missed out Newcastle on your way to York, shame it has some of the best nightlife in the North of England. Edinburgh is very much an expensive tourist trap I am sure you found.
Very well done with your pronunciation of Edinburgh. Did you not do any research? The 'stadium' is for the internationally reknowned Tattoo, except in Texas. They are churches not cathedrals. Many cities outside Scotland have churches, old buildings and bagpipers, try France for example.
I’m convinced Scottish people search for travel blogs of their own country just to piss and moan about the way FOREIGNERS mispronounce the local names. I never see this on videos of Spain, Turkey, Thailand, or even France. It’s annoying.
Loch Lemon, then Glimpson Viaduct? Or even Loch Lomond then the Glenfinnan viaduct 😄😄😄 I bet you just said those things wrong to see who watched and was paying attention 😄😄
@@Darren.ftk. you're just adding an extra letter, it still sounds the same. It's just Lomond. I live at the foot of the Lomond hills in Fife and I have never heard anyone say lowmond
Oh to be so privileged and blissfully unaware of the places you visit! For example, that historic graveyard you walked through looked like Greyfriars Kirkyard, and if so, that is where JK Rowling got the names for the Harry Potter characters.
Glenfinnan viaduct has become an irritating tourist cliche. Before 'Harry Potter' became the dominant reason for empty headed tourists to fill the car parks.
Bagpipes, what can i say.as a scotsman i can tell you that nothing would make me happier than if every American tourist adopted one every trip to Scotland and took them back home with you, that endless sqeal that they tell you is music makes me want to jab knitting needles into my eardrums 🤬
Nailed the pronunciation of edinburgh, but the rest were awful and the ignorance of the Scott Monument was astounding. Why don't people ask locals for the correct info. Not a stadium at the castle but searing for the world famous edinburgh military tattoo.
You do have an advantage speaking English/American. English people don't quite get such a good reception. Albeit it patchy in parts. There is an aggressive anti English party, that rather spoils the relationship between the two Countries!
l dont think thats quite the case.. Edinburgh is full of English people that visit and moved there no problems whatsover. Edinburgh folk more to be offish to someone from Glasgow 40 mile away ! But thats only due to being local rivals !

Only half of Edinburgh is uphill the other half is downhill.
Facts.
What about the part that's level?
My head said exactly the same thing, it's the wind in Edinburgh that's a git.

CZcams the Edinburgh tattoo. There are lots of them. It will give you an idea what the stadium type seating is for near the castle!
The church right at the beginning is St John's, Princes St, where Joan Baez's grandfather was rector.
