  • I’m always fascinated by why people choose certain beauty products over others. Well, whilst my mother was in hospital, I explored her dressing table.

I'm a middle aged man and not even in the UK and I found this very interesting. I think it's a testament to your presenting skills and charisma. You could be talking about virtually any topic and it would have my attention. Thanks for the needed mental break today. And yes, I subscribed! And the rest of you should too.

Agreed. She could be scooping up handfuls of soil from her mum's garden and chatting about that. I'd still watch it. I love her enthusiasm.

@@MiddleAgedMinx Keep being genuine and you'll get to 100K subscribers and beyond in no time. And don't feel embarrassed to ask. There is nothing wrong with constantly reminding your viewers to subscribe. I would suggest reminding near the beginning of a video (as not everyone always watches the whole thing) and *maybe* again at the end. Subscribing is the least people could do to thank you for all the effort you put in every week.

Poor Mutti, I hope she’s recovering. Whatever she’s used she’s looking fab for a lady of her years . We are all consumed with consumerism . Well done Mutti for knowing what works for you and sticking with it.

I've not washed my face since i was 12yr old, i am now 60. I cleanse with nivea lotion - smooth on face and remove with hot water rung out flannel - then also mousturise with Nivea lotion. Every couple weeks, i smooth Astral over face and neck, leave abt 5 mins then removd with hot water flannel. Everyone compliments me on my skin, i have no wrinkles to speak of and have never had spots or blemishes for all these years. Loved the video, it showed how much u enjoyed talking about your mum and her cosmetics, it went by to quickly. Hope your mum is improving, stay strong x

My mum used exactly the same products! I used to work on the toiletries and cosmetics counter in the seventies and would buy her all her stuff, and Yardley soaps at Christmas. She loved seeing what I'd bought on payday friday. Happy memories, she passed away eight years ago. Miss her. 😌

My dad passed away a few years back, and my mom never being a very demonstrative or vocal person with their feelings didn't outwardly have much of a reaction. I remember thinking at the funeral maybe she just really never cared for Dad. Mom died last year and while closing up the house I found a bottle of Aqua Velva, dad's cologne he wore every day, tucked into her scarf drawer. Scents are such memory keepers. I imagine Yardley soap will be yours.

Lovely! My Mum lived till 96 and had skin like a 65 year old. All she used all her life was Ponds Cold Cream twice a day. Also Jergens Original lotion, which I still use. I remember Astral from when I was a student in Scotland in the 70’s; also the big Bronnley lemon soaps! 🍋 My Auntie’s bathroom in Scotland always had a dish of Bronnley soaps....I can still smell them!

  • @juneprince-iles8390

Aww Jo that was so lovely and nostalgic. It put me in mind of my darling Great Grandma (1873-1969) , another no nonsense lady. She always used Bronnely soap, the one shaped exactly like a lemon. Lemon fresh perfume.....i have 2 in my bathroom soapdish right now ! (FOR SHOW !) Wishing your Mutti well ASAP.

The more you tell us about your Mum the more I love her!! She reminds me of my Mum who passed away about 3 years ago at the age of 94. She always used Astral cream and I remember when I was a child watching with fascination as she always rubbed into her face and wiped it off with a tissue. She did this every day about 4pm - and always in the kitchen between other jobs!! She also liked Badedas bath gel and we used to buy it for her for Christmas and birthdays until I discovered she could no longer get in the bath and was stockpiling it!!
I hate the smell of Johnsons baby powder by the way!!
Hope your Mum is recovering well. Lots of love to you both xxx

Mine loves Pond’s Vanishing Cream which I can’t get for her anymore, so she’s made the rather odd choice of Bio-Oil! She uses it on her legs and cleavage!! She also has lovely skin and beautiful legs, unlike you, I inherited my Fathers legs - he was a wonderful man but I’d rather have inherited his inch long eyelashes! I’m doing catch up Jo because I’ve been on shifts. Now this is very interesting. It’s so lovely to see what the older generation does with their beauty routines. My mother in law swears by nivea. She has my 21 year old daughter using it. I remember astral, it was too perfumey for me. We could learn a thing or two from this generation. ❤️Rose is back in fashion, they are using it in lots of products just now as it is calming on the skin. Yes maybe we should look to the past for guidance on sustainability and beauty products.

OK Jo, your mother is really my mother because not only does your Mutti look like my mother did, but she also only used Nivea, cream on the face and lotion on the body ( we don't have E45 cream in US). My mother loved bar soaps and vaseline on the lips, that's it!!! I bet they even matched broken bones. When I saw Mutti had her sling on wrong it reminded me of the time my mother broke her leg (3rd time) and had her soft cast on the wrong leg when I went to see her. I asked her why and she shrugged her shoulders and said " what difference does it make, I can walk". You gotta love them! Your a good daughter Jo.

Oh Jo this was the sweetest video. I got quite emotional when you were talking about your dear mum and her beauty products. Such love.
I hope she makes a good recovery and you both stay well. The final 'scene' with you both sitting outside was perfection . Lots of love to Minx and Mutti xxxxx (big kiss for Matilda!)

Lovely reminiscing these products that have stood the test of time. I remember my mum using Imperial Leather soap as a special treat, otherwise it was fairy soap. Fantastic roses xxx keep safe both you and your Mum.

I loved seeing your mum's beauty products, it reminded me of the products my mum used before she passed away. She also used the same hand cream and face moisturiser year after year. Hope your dear mum recovers soon. See you on Sunday. 💐

Ah bless , I mentioned last week I swear by E45. My parents still have soap bars and to be honest the smell of them sticks around for longer than liquid gels.
Wishing your mum a speedy recovery . XX
