  • Animation of LED Angel Wings in motion with a quick behind the scenes look at how it was made. Uses color changing LED pixels inside of 300 recycled water bottles. The wing span is 10 ft wide using different types of recycled plastic water bottles for the feathers. Each bottle has a color changing LED pixel that can be discreetly controlled to create dynamic patterns across the feathers and wings. The patterns can be controlled in different ways such as projecting across the entire wing span or only on certain areas like the edges of the wings or internally.
    We came up with the idea when we saw all these empty water bottles left over from my son's soccer game. We decided to create a new display using these bottles for our Christmas light show that allows people to stop and take a photo while reminding everyone to be conscious of recycling. #HarbeckLights #Angel

    I don't suppose you've posted any info on this on the xlights fb page have you Andy? These look really cool and I was wondering how you mounted all the bottles on the different angles and what the models look like for it. I imagine that the top edge and the bottom feathers are the only real sub models.

      Your correct the xlights models were pretty simple just the top edge, the middle section, and then the bottom feathers for the submodels. This seemed to give a good amount of control. I mounted the bottles with just a little 3d printed U bracket that screwed into the back. It didn't work perfect but did the job.

    I really love these angel wings. It's a such simple idea yet really beautiful. Would you mind if I built some similar ones for a local event?

    Absolutely beautiful! Are the water bottles painted white?

    • @HarbeckLights
      @HarbeckLights  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks! The bottles are coated inside with a thin amount of white resin to help diffuse a bit more evenly.
