Everything would be so much easier playing with a pick! The only hard thing on iron maiden songs is that the bassist (Steve Harris) refuses to use a pick, and after 150bpm it gets really tricky to keep it up. Not only that but when you have two guitars in the mix and you’re playing heavy metal you won’t hear a bass cutting through unless you’re Steve Harris… the man changes his strings every show, grows his nails and pluck the shit out of his bass… me??? I’ll just gonna use a pick, screw it, problem solved
Very personal interpretation... But, keep in mind that picks are condoms between music and yourself, be careful !

First of all I wanna make my compliments for your amazing playing, and thank you for your educational job in this very niche contest, of Harris geeks.
I’m a long time Harris player, more than 30 years, i’ve always found a bit weird the Phantom’s Intro and even the 2 more or less official scores published didn’t catch the spot in my opinion.
I’ve carefully listened to your 2 videos about Phantom, i see in this video you’re playing the most common part, (a 5 note group made by a sestuplet whitout the fisrt note) but i think it’s slight different compared to what you play in the bass cover video, am I wrong?
In your video: czcams.com/video/1A-C-x-GQ78/video.html i hear a group of 7 notes (the very first melody before the regular triplets), and it’s exactely the part I hear in the original recordeding, but i never been able to write it down.
I’m thinking that’s it’s a part recodred “on the fly” and barely not transcribeble,
What’s your opinion about?
Hey, you're right, it's a bit different, maybe because I had not analyzed the part as thoroughly as I did for the tuto, and like me, I suppose all the transcripters must have gone crazy trying to write down something that has never been meant to be. DG
