As a Brit, I can see that our media has been condemning Qatar for all sorts of things since Qatar was chosen to host this tournament. But I'm also a teacher of English as a foreign language so I get to work as an equal with 100s of people from all around the world and in that environment, you can't go round condemning other cultures and countries. Or at least if you do, you can expect others to find all sorts of problems with your culture - things you might have forgotten about or not really thought about before. So FIFA's response to protect Qatar is the right one.
If we think we have some special mission to educate Qatari people about issues that are important to us in our cultures, we should first learn a few things from Qataris about their culture and learn what respect means to them in their culture. If we can't do that, we should shut up, enjoy the football, or do something else useful with our lives. The same applies to any culture for that matter.

This is not breaking news and it’s not something that’s hidden. There have been hundreds of reports on this over the years; not only Qatar but the whole of the UAE. It’s a major humanitarian and human rights issue that needs addressing. However it doesn’t come close to the crimes being committed by Western non-Muslim nations.
Will there be reports on the tens of thousands of murders in Mexico every year when reporting on the World Cup 2026? The millions of women who have been raped in the US and the hundreds of thousands who continue to be raped every year? The genocides carried out by Canada and the US against their indigenous peoples? How about the thousands of children who are sexually abused in the US every year? Or perhaps the 12 children who die every day from gun violence in the US along with 32 others who are shot and injured. Or maybe the millions of Iraqis and Afghanis who have been murdered, injured or displaced as a result of the illegal US led wars and invasions? The western media could report on the depleted uranium dropped by the US on Iraq which continues to result in children being born with all kinds of deformities till this day.
I wonder why western media haven't been so critical of western governments and businesses whom benefit to the tune of tens of billions every year from Qatar; why no calls for boycotts of business deals?
Let’s keep the same energy in 4 years time and make sure all of the crimes of the host nations are brought to light before and during the World Cup.

Qatar is not the right venue for hosting 2022 FIFA World Cup. It is a one of the Worst Football Playing nations and have never won any major Asian Football tournament including Asian Games. It is monetarily a rich country but a petty tiny country. Corrupt and rascal FIFA officials including the earlier FIFA President Sepp Blatter have accepted bribes to the tune of hundreds of millions of Dollars and offered the 2022 World Cup to be hosted by Qatar. Also Qatar was indulged in gross human rights violation and brutalities in course of construction of venues, infrastructure and other facilities for the World Cup. Thousands of Expatriate construction workers including Indians have been killed during construction activities in Qatar. Also there are reports of exploitation, inhuman living conditions, overwork, nonpayment of construction workers. I wish the 2022 FIFA World Cup is a damp squib and a tight slap on the face of Infantino and other FIFA officials. Also I have a strong desire to see that Qatar concedes more than 12 goals in the first round and get kicked out of the World Cup. Compare this with the 2018 FIFA World hosted by Russia, which is the greatest and the best organised Tournament in the History of the World Cup Football. The tournament was played in 12:Venues , across 11 Cities and across 11 time zones of Russia. Russia also had a great tournament and reached the quarter finals having lost to the finalists mighty Croatia in Tie Breaker after 2-2 draw at the end of extra time. Hundreds of thousands of football fans from across the globe landed in the 11 Cities of Russia and we're witness to a great World Cup. Also all the construction activities were carried out by the Russians and no case of exploitation and death were reported. So many great cities in Russia hosted the World Cup, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Samara, Rostov on Don, Katerinaburg are the few cities I remember Again I wish Qatar, Infantino and FIFA a rubbish World Cup tournament in all aspects.

Yeah bcoz in West they will b living like equals. Here they r simply domestic help , drivers and cleaners and laundry, construction and security and what all the hard hitting jobs u can imagine with lessss pay and u can abuse them as u wish. If ur country's government allows u to buy people for work and have a right on them . People in middle East are also going nuts with such superiority. FYI . They sell people online from one employer to other there.

One asked me what I was doing in Yemen, and when I told him I was in the country as a smilemaker to help cleft children, he said he would love to help too,and even asked for my e mail address! It came from a compassionate heart. What an experience. I hope to meet the kind immigration officials again if Yemen ever returns to peace and I can return to my smile mission programs in Yemen. I am an Indian working in Qatar for the last 10 years, as a migrant worker I can say those criticism made by the western medias are fabricated and are 100% wrong,
If there is some thing true to this controversies then the majority of the principal contractors for the world cup projects are from western countries, they give the contracts to third parties that is also non Qatari companies, those western companies and third party companies are the real culprit for these issues
Now the western media came up with a new issue, those fans who celebrated their love to the teams are hired by qatar government from India and Pakistan, this shows how much they are jealous of Qatar and how much they are Racist, I am an Indian I am a Malayali and the biggest migrants here aare Indians they are double in number of Qatari nationals, Malayalis love football more than any other games their love to football was featured in FIFA, the fan made huge cut outs in Kerala was featured in western medias, those same malayalis from kerala is the one cheered in Qatar streets.
