  • This is a video of Forfar in Scotland and the area within 10 miles around the town.
    Locations shown will include ancient forts,standing stones, castles, cemeteries, doocots and more! I've tried to capture many historic spots in the videos and a bit of a local history lesson written underneath if you are interested in that :)
    Who knew the Forfar area had so much interesting history and places to see? It's been an enjoyable education putting it all together!
    These vidoes could be good to find somewhere to walk, a possible location to photograph, maybe even a day out exploring a few of the locations shown. I have also come to learn they're good for those who have emigrated and miss Forfarshire :)
    I used a DJI Mavic Mini for the drone footage, a GoPro Hero8 and sometimes a Galaxy s20 ultra for the other footage.
    PART 3 INCLUDES:
    1)Carse Gray stone circle - goo.gl/maps/ZTXq5shPB6ptzgP88
    2)Vayne Castle - goo.gl/maps/T22p3d9LnRZcfcZ88

    Thanks for doing these three films, we’ve been visiting the area for over 30 years and it is great to get a more local perspective of places off the beaten track.

      Aww glad you got something from them. I intended to do 4 or 5 videos but life got away from me after the initial covid lockdown year.
      All these locations are within 10 miles of Forfar, but Angus itself is crammed with interesting places!

      Haha aye get the boots raked oot! I'm glad you liked the videos. There's room for at least 1 more from the countryside and another from Forfar itself. I haven't touched too much on the towns history but there's a heap to learn! Interesting area when you start digging :)

      @@gayleblackie Forfar was a very important town until the 16th Century when the Kings of Scots based themselves south of the Forth, ask to see the Forfar Bridle in the old townhall,its a Scolds Gag for nagging women.

      Aww thank you. It's an interesting wee bit of Scotland. The loch caravan park is a bonnie spot to stay. It's a shame the old leisure centre has turned into a hangout for bored youths.
      The Stirling area is lovely! Stacked in history too.

      I do love a Mclarens bridie! All the bakers in Forfar do something good though. We're fairly spoilt! Haha. Destined to be a town that suffers heartburn.

    Hi Gayle. Just watched all 3 of your videos and loved them all. Stayed in forfar my whole life and I've looking forward to exploring some of these now.
    Great video editing and music. Really enjoyed all them.
    P.s Just to settle the debate, camerons is the best place for Bridies 😁
    Stay safe Gayle ❤

      @gayleblackie  Před 2 lety

      Aww thank you. I enjoyed making them. It gave me an interest after the 5 mile travel rule came in last summer in Scotland.
      I intended to do another 2 within the same 10 miles around Forfar but other things and life took over and it went down my list of priorities I guess.
      I'll maybe get inspired one day. It takes quite a bit of work to make with all the research and fetching footage.

    Being a southerner Gayle...what's a Bridie? Lovely filming by the way😊

    • @gayleblackie
      @gayleblackie  Před 3 lety +1

      The easiest way for me to explain a bridie is by calling it something along the lines of a cornish pasty... But instead of twists is had finger pressed ends... And the filling is generally minced beef and onion. The standard one is shortcrust but you also get a flaky version.
      Forfar is famous for it's bridies.
      I didn't think to explain the bridie in the video, sorry lol. I think I had it in my head I'd have a wee bridie bit in a future video down the line.
      Thank you, by the way 😊
      The videos can sometimes be a bit fast paced, but there's just so much to cram in before people get bored 😄
