JD's drag was the first drag. so it was slippery from all sap & leaf juice . Once u get dirt pulled up over brush & so on it get alot easier to get traction. Ur test for next Comparison will be interesting!
I’m pretty sure if an eight wheeled skidded is having trouble going up it, we can call it a hill. It doesn’t have to be a mountain to be steep. Love the videos.
Never had any experience in a jd or a tiger cat but did help my pops back in the day working on old timber Jack's I remember the old 660 we're the top of the line back in the day now you don't see them any more

Awesome video. Great video. It sure was well worth it to upgrade the 620. Proof is in the pudding right there. Might have to do a little fine tweaking here and there on the 748L2? I think Mickey wasn't woke up yet when he was loading puppy up. I still don't see how Mickey can be on the loader all day long every day. If it was me I would get out of the loader and get on the skidder for a few minutes in between trucks just to break up the monotony a little bit providing the pile had enough ready to load the trucks up. Can't wait to see the skidders side by side on the upcoming video. That will be an awesome video for sure. That hill you parked the track cutter on should be high enough for this hurricane. Love that office view. Nothing can beat that. Peason Ridge has some decent hills on it. I wonder what Michael was saying on the radio to Matthew when he made it up the hill without any problems. I think Matthew had more speed built up than Michael did but we shall see soon. Wow on those pine logs at the end of the video. Glad no one got hurt at the sawmill.

It sucks that you guys can't make logs out of any of them. I've cut a lot of tornadoe damaged timber over the years a have had the same problem with the logs.

Another great video Thomas and the only thing I’m gonna say about the two skidders is that the tiger cat has a longer wheelbase than a John Deere that’s why it will go up and down the hills better than a John Deere I never understood that about John Deere wow they make their scooters with such short wheelbase is better anyway y’all stay safe with this hurricane coming toward y’all again and I just pray for everyone over in that area that God will protect y’all and see y’all through this

As far as N.C. Mountains grade goes this is pie. I’ve never had any problem from John Deere.
Same here in VA mountains we ran 540 and 640 Deere's D model's never had any problems good dependable skidders.

I just got done cutting a track with a 20 - 25 degree slope. Running a 748L2 and a 748h the h model pulled the hill better than the new L2

From experience. That tiger kitty will eat that Deere for breakfast. I live in the West Virginia mountains. Deere won’t pull half what our tiger kittys pull. . We have 3 kitty’s, and 2 Deere’s. The Deere’s dream about growing up to be a kitty!

Wind shake. Separations on the growth ring. Dangerous on guys dropping with chain saws also. Wind damage is costly. I've heard them popping like rifle shot in 20 brlpe zero weather. Frosrm and wind bending them. Locust trees so it real bad.

We didn’t upgrade the turbo, and we can’t adjust the Deere for warranty reasons

It’s not the skidder it’s the duel tires they don’t have enough ground pressure to get good traction on hills but that’s the point in duels to reduce ground pressure so you can stay on top of the wet ground.
Our duals only touch when the machine sinks down...so it’s basically like no duals unless it’s wet

To keep the size of the machine down for when we have to thin

We've got a couple 648's that I USED TO love.... they put me on our old 525 CAT bout 3 months ago and I absolutely love it, it's a TANK

Terrry Burgett doesn’t matter who’s been making it the longest , it’s who makes the better all around pieces of equipment. For a dip shit like you, that means a piece of equipment that can do the job day in and day out with the least amount of repairs, for the longest number of years.

And I’ve been in the woods all my life to and been a forestry equipment mechanic since 1997. I have worked on it all and I like working on the best. By the way old John Deere and cats lasted as long as tigercat do, I can name plenty of tigercat machines with 30,000 hours on them still running. No matter what I say you’ll still just call me a dumb ass and why don’t you call and try to sell a used L series Deere and an E series tigercat skidder to a used equipment dealer and see which one he would buy first.

And it was the very first machine they ever made and the man stopped using it, tigercat wanted to redo it because it was the first machine, if John Deere could find the first machine they ever made they would do the same thing.
Terrry Burgett last thing I’m going to say. We have I lot of companies in our area that is tigercat only and the one that run Deere say it’s because they can get financing easy. Cotton top 3 also says that the 635 is a beast. And if you’ve worked of Deere for 12 years then your (33) year old skidder can’t be pulling wood every day, I have no more time to waste on dip shits ✌️
