    im sorry. to be that person but he wasn't the first openly gay olympian to medal... Tom Daley from Great Britain was when he won the bronze medal for the diving 10m platform back in London 2012 and he actually did it again in Rio 2016 for the 10m platform synchro event. if you want to change the title he is the first openly gay medalst at a Winter Olympics
