Judge Boyd just gave a master class in empathy, patience, and kindness with the first defendant. Good for her.
The poor lady was probably conned into tampering with evidence. From the look of her she really cant make a rational decision. This judge was really nice with her, making sure she was aware of what is going on and what might happen.
Beautiful to watch. The lawyer was so rude and impatient towards her.
Her answers aren’t idiotic! She truly doesn’t understand!
I was just thinking the exact same thing...Whoever titles these must be a jackass.
The first individual presents as cognitively disabled. A psychological evaluation would be in order.
I've watched a few of these. The first defendant seems like the most respectful one I've seen. She may not have it all together, but she was respectful.
Neuro developmental/cognitive testing, and going from there. Poor thing I’m proud of her for speaking up and saying, “I don’t understand. “ she probably has the mental age somewhere between 11 and 13.
😱 Ms Parra, is cognitively disabled? Oh lord, yet, her reproductive state is at peak & she' birthed 3 children, my skin is crawling.
I am not sure she is capable of understanding the word tampering.
Judge is TRYING HER BEST, to make SURE the defendant UNDERSTANDS
Judge Boyd is a role model for all adults, regardless of profession, gender, age.
YES,A JUDGE WITH HIGH INTEGRITY !!
That First one is heartbreaking. I wouldn't be surprised if someone tricked her into tampeing with evidence.
Yes, I'm unsure she's got the capacity to think of this on her own
I would hazard a guess those babies were made under pressure😪
She’s giving Gypsy Rose vibes. You’re probably accurate.
Judge Boyd was so kind to that first woman, she saw the woman has issues. The woman understands much anything unless it’s broken down to talking to a child. That banner about the idiot answers should taken down. She is not an idiot, she has mental issues, not her fault.
Judge Boyd shows compassion and gentleness to the first defendant. Awesome judge
A very caring compassionate judge 👩🏽⚖️ she is !
😊
Unfortunately this is not a good thing because the majority of criminals coming before her do try to use her compassion in their favor.
Compassion equals doormat to criminals because they lack compassion for others.
I don’t want the judge to appear weak unlike the rest of you snowflakes.
These are criminals who committed felonies.
@@MsTemptationJudge Boyd is compassionate but she’s no softy, she quick reads ppl very well and can tell the difference between the truth and a liar.
Patience is Judge Boyd's super power!
Compassion, too! She treats humans like humans. (Gentle firmness.)
She keeps it in her pocket! 😂
The first woman needs a competency
Her lawyer needs a role in a 1960's Western.
She needs forensic assement and screening
Agree. There is no way she actually understands any of it
What upsets me in cases like these is the defendants lawyer almost forces his client to accept the plea deal so it is off his books. There is NO WAY this lady should be entering into a plea deal. I think she needs to get a psychological evaluation to see where her mind is at. I feel so bad for this lady. I do not know is this lady knows right from wrong at this point in her life. Judge Boyd should not be accepting any kind of plea deal.
Stephanie Boyd for Supreme Court
Stephanie Boyd for President!! 😂😂
Since she knows that kids are baby goats, she would have no trouble telling you what a woman is.
5:01
Judge Boyd: Hhere’s the thing _is she competent?_
Defense Atty: _ugh she was until you started asking her questions._
WTH?!
Having him as your public defender is almost as good as appearing pro se. 😤
Bless Judge for talking slowly and explaining her situation to this client better.
She doesn’t understand any of it.
Poor thing she really is off
Judge Boyd’s voice is very calming to me.
The first case that defense attorney was HORRID!! Thankfully Judge Boyd is full of compassion and empathy ❤️
When he was being ignorant to her then stepped back and did that fake laugh, actually his whole interaction with her, made me want to tighten his tie up!
First attorney is very patronizing and disrespectful to his client, who obviously has special needs. I couldn’t stand him
Judge Boyd is doing a great job in a tough situation
Judge Boyd is a COMPASSIONATE, Fair Judge!💕 She picked that one up immediately. To me that young lady could easily be talked into committing offenses to please someone. Sad !
She’s not an idiot. She clearly is unwell, probably medicated. Be kinder.
Well done, Judge, about understanding that using legal terms often stops communication.
The defense attorney in the brown coat in the beginning is horrible and should not be an attorney.
Grow up. Perry Mason was busy.
@@centexanI take it that was you. Lolz. Got it
@@redbeardsflippedodometer7279 Yes, that was me. My posting name was right there for all to see, even you. Now, seriously, grow up.
I agree that he could be more caring. Seems like he just wants to get on to the next client.
@@laurencooke7087I can't blame him, this client' useless.
The Judge would be an amazing instructional coach. ❤
From time to time, she does have law students visit and observe her in court. They couldn't have a better model instructor.
Love the flowers and the color of her purse..
She’s giving 1st grade teacher vibes.
35 years later and I still think about Ms Roth. 🤗
I love listening to her. The stories about her Mom who did an amzibg job as single mother.
The first lady is a sad lady.
Well done Judge Boyd you respected her so much.
Its nice to see a judge taking the time to ensure the defendant is aware of her rights and what is going on.
That was ridiculous. She is in no way what most of us would consider "normal", or even capable. Seems like they should be taking a different track. BTW, what was the crime
The judge did refer her for a mental health evaluation.
Tampering with evidence
As a practicing criminal defense lawyer, the first person broke my heart. I definitely think the attorney should have filed a motion to determine competency. It isn’t the highest standard, but it appears that she has cognitive delays that may actually affect her ability to understand the proceedings and assist her attorney. Because she is so compliant, she could be agreeing that she understands because she wants to be helpful. The attorney is an ass and sadly one of many in the state of Texas.
@@jeanettesmith765 not even so much mental health but mental capacity. She needs a competency assessment so that it can be determined whether or not she has the mental capacity to understand her own defence participating in her defence and make truly informed choices about her legal options. This is ain’t it. one presiding over this, I would strongly admonish this attorney for inadequately preparing his client to accept a plea.
The American Judge Boyd is always so respectful and professional.💖 Love from Sweden
The poor lady (first one), I feel like she needs mental health help.
The judge fully understands and properly implements DIFFERENTIATING - how you present information to differently-able people. She spoke to the woman at the level needed, to accomplish the goal of a clear understanding of what she was answering to. Teachers, (good teachers) know that this is a HUGE part of someone learning new material. Meet them where they're at. Excellence from the bench yet again. A+
I loved this about the judge. Such compassion and understanding. Exemplary.
We have to remember that also when talking in medical terms also.
You’re absolutely right. Know your audience.
“Idiotic” is NOT the right word to use in this case - not was this judge “SHOCKED”
❤
She's so compassionate and respectful but will end you ruthlessly the moment it's called for. She's someone I look up to now.
That lawyer is a bully, she doesnt understand.
Judge Boyd is the best! How compassionate and patient, this woman is clearly impaired and JB gently and slowly went thru the process. The defense attorney is terrible, he is just trying to take the easiest way thru just to get out of the case. Sad and unethical
Poor lady she has no idea what is happening. She needs real help.
3:05 oh wow. I really don’t think she is even competent to enter into a plea. this is really sad.
The nerve of that defense attorney standing there laughing at someone...his client no less...when it is obvious she needs help. He should be sanctioned.
@@maryphillips5863 apparently that attorney is posting on this thread defending himself in the third person.
@@redbeardsflippedodometer7279 I hope not. That's unprofessional behavior. I hope it's a troll.
She appeared to be in fear of her lawyer, if I'm wrong I apologize.
Dontthink she was scared didntnotice him laughing but to lazy to rewind!
That first woman doesn't understand anything that is being said.
Agreed. She's just going to say what she thinks will please others........ her lawyer seems to intimidate her and seems a bit of a bully
Poor lady. I feel bad for her.
The first one breaks my heart. She is so lost.
She did understand till you starting asking questions 🤦🏼♀️what a fool of a lawyer
Please, while on probation, get the first defendent tested. She has obvious developmental and cognative issues. I doubt she understood the charges. Tampering with evidence is above her cognative abilities.
Judge Boyd is so beautifully sensitive to other people.
As the mother of three chosen children with developmental disabilities, I wept at the first defendant’s hearing. She was so respectful, apologetic at her difficulty understanding the proceedings and remembered the ages of the children she relinquished for adoption. I pray she finds a safe way through life.
This is an excellent judge! She is great!
My guess to the First Lady recently had chemo or radiation and some brain cells got killed. This sometimes happens with cancer treatment.
There's a long scar from stitches on the back of her head.
Could have lice and got shaved n jail
and while i'm listening, i'm in another tab trying to find that purse on Judge Boyd's bench.
😂😂😂
Your thoughtfulness is admirable
If I have a legal problem in S.A., I hope I get that blonde lady for defense attorney!😁
When I learned how tough it is for others in this world, I was left with nothing to complain about (too embarrassing)! I do have so much to be thankful for growing up in America!👍🇺🇸
So true.
Absolutely 💯
She is so patient.
The first woman has a scar on the rear of her head. She might have some trauma type cognitive disabilities that need to be addressed before they move forward with her "agreeing" to everything.
She seems like a very nice person. One that could be lead around and needs some protection.
Judge Boyd showed much compassion and empathy for the first defendant. She does appear to have issues, I wish her well. Good job Judge Boyd.
Absolutely love this judge 😊
Seems like everyday Judge Boyd has to remind people to shut up.
I think the first woman is not really competent to understand what her charge even means.
That woman is NOT COMPETENT to be on trial and probably not criminal
Wow, she’s the first person who actually gave her children up for adoption because she knew that she couldn’t take care of them mentally, emotionally, financially and physically.
I wish judge Boyd had asked the first girl how far she went in school.
Love this Judge she is the BEST
The defense attorney in the 2nd case seems like she could care less, standing there looking away or up at the ceiling or floor. She didn’t seem prepared for the case
I wonder if Priscilla had an IEP in school. Judge Boyd would have made an excellent teacher. My heart bleeds for my profession because so many great people have left teaching and so many are not entering teaching. She should not have to work to get SSI disability. She may not be capable of working
The lady doesn't need to work for ssi. I think judge Boyd said proof of employment or ssi
SSI takes awhile to process, hopefully she is already on it. And some people need a lawyer or caseworker just to help them apply for SSI or appeal a denied SSI app. I wish this lady well & that she got the needed services.
I definitely think she is being compliant and wanting to please the Court. That is different from understanding. An answer of “ok” is not the same as “yes”. There are people who have learned how to answer in order to survive in the world, but they really don’t have a broad understanding of the concepts presented or the consequences of some of their actions.
Everybody has PTSD nowadays she does have problems and the judge was very good with her
I’m a little concerned for the first lady… she clearly don’t understand.
"She understood before you started talking" means she never really understood.
First one needs a psych evaluation
Apparently this isnt even her cross
I'm glad someone actually admitted they didn't understand some of the words/terms. Legal language is not easy to understand.
I’m in Guyana and I be watching all judges on CZcams she by far the best I wish she was my auntie I can call a talk story
That first attorney was a real piece of sh*t
He was so obviously just trying to be done with this case and on to the next.
She is very obviously not competent
He seemed to be bullying her through the process
@@maryholden3136 yessss exactly
Ugh made me so mad
She understands she just playing the court
She doesn’t understand….
I hate that the first attorney was laughing at his client, I was hoping the judge would have reprimanded him for his unprofessional behavior.
man I would've sent her to have a competency exam
Trouble is a competency exam can take up to a year sometimes, theres a backlog. They stay incarcerated the whole time. The system sure is great 👍
Judge Boyd is tough as nails, but so very compassionate.
If everyone behave like Jedge Boyd what a world we would have. Life isn't complicated. Be kind, have respect and have a job! Obey the golden rule simple. This will result in happiness!
Nasty lawyer that lady had, standing there in his camel coat, wants out there asap.
I feel so sorry for the First Lady, she needs the right type of help jail isn’t it.
Judge Boyd is a sweetheart ❤ I love how she actually cares about the people even if the sentence is not what they want it’s what they need. This women seems a little off to me
Our mental hospitals must be reopened. These people are just out in society
The judge was very patient and kind.
Judge Boyd is such an amazing JUDGE!! I view her as a no nonsense Judge. Her compassion makes her even more beautiful than she already is. She is utilizing resources . I believe we need more judges along these lines.i sincerely appreciate her. Peace and good health to you and yours.
A truly just society wouldn't have prisons full of the poor, the sick and the unfortunate. It would have prisons full of predators regardless of their economic class, mental health and who their parents were.
I really do not think I have seen the same purse twice!! She must change her bag weekly or something! 😮
I love Judge Boyd
Second guy is just pushing his luck. Accountability fella
Calling someone who clearly has some mental problems "idiotic" is disgusting. In the very case you reference with the title, Judge Boyd shows so much compassion and empathy. You could learn from her.
🎉 thank you 🙏🏼. Unreal!
First case was hard to watch. Very sad.
All of these attorneys look like they're all sharing the same ill-fitting sport coat.
😂😂😂
She needs an assisted living facility where she can Live independently but can live as free as she wants but have someone to help her .
She deserves help, NOT PRISON.
I DONT KNOW WHAT SHE IS ACCUSED OF OR DID, BUT,I firmly believe, She has NO CLUE AS TO WHAT SHE HAS DONE WRONG.😮😮😮😢😢
I'm worried about the first one. Judge Boyd handled her case and situation beautifully. I hope she does get the services she needs and doesn't fall through the cracks.
COMPITENCY HEARING IS A MUST !!!!
Judge: ".... is she competent ??"
Attorney ready to be done with this case: "Well she WAS, until you started asking her questions..."
🤣😂🤣
I don’t like using “idiotic”.. that poor woman wasn’t ignorant or an idiot. She truly didn’t know. She clearly has something going on cognitively.
And shame on her public defender. They he was talking to her and about her.
She doesn’t give second chances at all. And when she says “here’s the thing, I have internalized everything you’ve said” u know they are goin to jail/prison
That lawyer is not good!! He is forcing her to follow what he says.
She told the lawyer, she doesnt understand.
Can see she is not the fully understanding.
Her lawyer would have told her to say, "Yes mam". When the judge asks her a question.
There is to many people moving around the court room
Thank you judge Boyd. This lady prolly did not fully understand until you called it. She prolly didnt know what she was doing when she did it
I was judge Boyd was the young lady in the blue shirt's attorney. She needs someone who is more patient and compassionate.
Judge Boyd is the best!
