Was Jesus based on the Buddha? Many on the internet seem to think so, and this video addresses this claim.

@Jasper Phee , jesus didn't have time to start a family because of all the work in the ministry he had to do. He was tempted in every way we were but did not sin. Only a God could do that brother. I'm not sure when buddha passed away but when he did the holy spirit was already around from the the beginning of time, because it is God, just like the father and son. I say that because the spirit it talked about in the Old testament

Buddha was one of the greatest preachers but his teachings are so different from the teachings of Jesus.. Buddha or Siddhartha was a Hindu before he attained enlightenment and became who he was. PATHETIC

    • @a_Catholic_Ant
      @a_Catholic_Ant Před 4 měsíci

@@abstraction6212 Firstly, Side note: Say "The God of the Bible" not "Bible God". The ladder sounds weird. Also, God does not directly punish the wicked. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says in Paragraph 1472 "To understand this doctrine and practice of the Church, it is necessary to understand that sin has a double consequence. Grave sin deprives us of communion with God and therefore makes us incapable of eternal life, the privation of which is called the "eternal punishment" of sin. On the other hand every sin, even venial, entails an unhealthy attachment to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after death in the state called Purgatory. This purification frees one from what is called the "temporal punishment" of sin. These two punishments must not be conceived of as a kind of vengeance inflicted by God from without, but as following from the very nature of sin. A conversion which proceeds from a fervent charity can attain the complete purification of the sinner in such a way that no punishment would remain."
Yes, God is angry at sin, but we must remember the difference between the perfect and permissive will. The perfect will is what God actually does, and the permissive will is what he allows. God permits evil to bring a greater good. But this isn't the same as directly creating even.
And God did not quit after the resurrection. Before he died for our sins and rose from the dead, we Catholics know that in Matthew 16:18-19 God gave us a church and Magisterium that still exists today to help us, and is constantly working to get new converts to the truth.
You really need to read up on Christianity before criticizing it.

He never said he was a god. He never said anyone that if someone does not believe him,he would go to hell.
He just taught a lots ways of living that balance the world.
He said to believe in ourselves and do what would help us and others happy but not put others in trouble and ourselves.
He was a peace lover and a example of human rights as he said everyone is born same.

For a story about a man who renounced the material world and attachment, it uses a lot of flowery language to describe nature. I've heard some people try to discredit Christ by saying that "so-and-so taught the golden rule FIRST," as if that's the game-set-match winning move. Buddha often ends up on this list, along with Socrates and Confucius.

Buddha never believed in a God, because he knew there's No God that humanity keeps on believing... humanity is getting far from OBJECTIVE Reality when they percieve Objective Reality via their Subjective lens... this leads to differences, leads to disagreement about 1 Objective Reality... this itself should be enough to understand that neither one is Right, because Next thing it leads to is Fight over who's Subjective lens is better closer to 1 Objective Reality...

    • @tommyreyes7033
      @tommyreyes7033 Před 6 lety

How did Buddha reject the Caste System? At the time of the Buddha the caste system was firmly established in India. According to this system, a person's position in society was determined from the time he was born and there was no way to change his lot in life. There were four castes, or classes, of people in society:
The Brahmins or priests, who claimed to be the highest caste and the purest of peoples
      The warriors
      The merchants and traders
The untouchables, who were considered the lowest class. They became workers and servants who did all the menial jobs, and were treated as slaves.
The Buddha condemned the caste system, which he considered unjust. He pointed out that there existed wicked and cruel people as well as virtuous and kind people in every caste. Any person who had committed a crime would be punished accordingly by his karma no matter what caste he belonged to. He said a person may be considered to have come from a high or low caste according to his good and bad deeds. Therefore, according to the Buddha it is the good and bad actions of a person and not his birth that should determine his caste.
The Buddha introduced the idea of placing a higher value on morality and the equality of people instead of on which family or caste a person is born into. This was also the first attempt to abolish discrimination and slavery in the history of mankind.
      The Buddha said:
By birth one is not an outcaste,
By birth one is not a Brahmin; Holy Man
By deeds alone one is an outcaste,
By deeds alone one is a Brahmin Holy Man

Let's try to find the right kind of pride then, if we already have to use it and cannot hide from it. A kind of pride that is, by the means of your untamed ego, going wild and damaging everything and everyone along its way is not the right kind of pride. A kind of pride that is, inspired by non-self and a conpassionate intention, spreading helpful instructions on how to better yourself as a person and reduce suffering in the long run is the right kind of pride. (Before responding, I'd like to mention my bias as a point of honesty: I'm Christian and prescribe to the Gospel as written along the lines of the King James Bible)
I don't know who's speculated this, but it seems unlikely to say the least. Even those who disregard Jesus story as completely true would have to admit that its unlikely any Jew who adhered to the Mosaic covenant would have gone off by hundreds of miles into a foreign land in order to study a religion (I've heard some say that Buddhism isn't really a religion: not sure how that works, but I'm calling it one for simplicity's sake) that included worshiping at idols, or taught reincarnation. Judaism, then as now, taught against praying towards idols, having any god besides YHWH, or any concept of reincarnation.
(I don't really know enough to comment on the Buddhist concept of enlightenment, though I have been curious as to what that means, so if you respond, do you think you could clarify?)
As for a man coming through Tibet named Jesus, I think it is worth mentioning that the name itself wasn't that unique. While Jesus is the name we normally refer to him by in the west, his Jewish name would have been Yeshua, which when anglicized becomes Joshua. "Jesus" was a Greek translation of the Hebrew name, which means "redeemer". Given what Jesus was meant to do by his death, you can understand why his name was chosen.
As for how a guy with such a name ended up in Tibet...as fascinating a tale as that would be, I feel safe in concluding it was another guy with the same name, sort of like there being a Simon Bar Kokhba and a Simon Peter.
      Hope that clarifies.

@@Sanatani_kattar you are right, see these evidence especially no.2 and 3:
20 IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE that proved Bible God is likely FAKE, don't miss the last paragraph that explains them all:
      1) A creator god claimed to be all mighty should be the oldest and only religion but all the pagans, Greek, Chinese, Hinduism religions existed earlier. This proved their Creator claim fake.
      2) Jesus similarities with Buddha. Maya to Mary, miracle pregnancy to virgin pregnancy, birth during a journey home to from home, prophesied soon after birth, both had a disciple who betrayed them, walked on water, Gautama left the palace at age 29 and Jesus appeared at 29, Gautama became Buddha at 35 and Jesus died and resurrected at around 35 too, Buddha had a big meal while Jesus had a last supper before they died, after they passed away, 500 arahants witnessed compilation of Buddha's teachings and over 500 witnesses to Jesus's resurrection etc. All coincidental ? Beside Buddha, Jesus was also found to be copied from other figures. Surely they can't be ALL coincidental.
      3) Many of the Bible's mythologies was copied from older pagans, Greek, Egyptian or Hinduism religions(note the names too) E.g. Adam & Eve from Atman and Jiva, in Hinduism, big flood and survivor Noah/3 sons same as Manu/3 sons although cause of flood is different. Even the names of Abraham and wife/sister Sarah close to Brahma and Saraswathi beside having quite similar story. Regardless of which religion copied which, it proved this god is NOT the only true god or all mighty as it doesn't makes sense for an ALMIGHTY GOD to create or allow more copies or religions.
      4) Why should a true all mighty and all knowing God allowed their people to branch off and kill their parent religion Judaism or Zoroatruism ? "Free will" as an excuse is not acceptable as earlier they claimed their God killed all people with a big flood(without freewill) because they sinned.
      5) The way they collect titlings during Sunday mass is so tricky. They know people will be shy not to pay or tend to pay more when others could be watching. This is why they don't just use a stationed money box like Buddhism, Hinduism or Chinese temples where people can donate anytime. Catholics and Islam made it even bigger by suggesting donation of a certain percentage of their income.
      6) The Bible condemned non-followers, clearly mentioned in Mark's words. Why should a Creator God's religion condemn non-believers when in the first place, they claimed their God created the world? Isn't this like playing both sides of the same coin, both good and evil ?
7)Not knowing why or how the world exists don't mean that it was created by a god. Now "Creator" idea got stale, they use "Intelligent Design" What is so intelligent in its design? If people don't need to go to toilet and don't have unpleasant feelings or sufferings, then I will call it an intelligent design.
8)Wisdom, mindfulness and meditaion are not taught or encouraged by them because they don't want their followers' minds to be clearer and wiser.
9)The Bible copied very much from older religions but not the theory of karma because karma idea defeats the purpose of the all mighty God and it will prevent people from doing bad deeds. Saying God love or forgive sins is a trick playing both sides of the coin.
      10) The way the church preached and claimed simply lacked substance and logic. If you ask them intelligent question, they will always be evasive and say you are a troll or using the same circular reasoning tactic.
      11) It don't makes sense to claim that only their believers will go to heaven and others don't since they claimed their God created all people. Such claim is an insult to other religions and cultures and caused people to divide. A good religion should be non-sectarian, secular and treat all people equally.
12)Most major festivals and holidays related to Christianity are fake including Christmas(Jesus can't be born in winter), Easter, Thanksgiving, Good Friday, All Souls, Halloween and even New Year are copied from paganism.
      13) Using fear like hell or "end of the world" every 2 years but we are still here.
      14) The fraud case of Mother Teresa(Google it) and after she died, those money she collected was not returned to India.
15)If their God is all-mighty, why need missionaries to convert others ?
      16) The ongoing child sex abuses committed by the pastors/priests that I read so often.
      17) The Bible is full of lust(Solomon's part), evil and violence. Their God killed countless people when Satan only killed a few.
      18) The Bible condemned dogs because they know dogs are man's best friend. Making men lonely is the best way to keep them dependant on religion.
      19) If God created everybody, why then condemn LGBT or other religions ?
      20) Incidents, eg: (a) U.S., U.K, France, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico are all high Christianity population countries and more people died from Covid-19, over 300K Americans alone !! (b)The Air Asia plane crash of 2014 killed 41 church members, 2 missionaries and their few month old baby.
Only 1 reason can tie up all 20 points above, this God was man-made to con or control people.

Hello. So, what I want to do with this message is to simply show what the Gospel is. I am not trying to force my belief down people's throats. It's your choice whether you want to accept it.
So, a question: Do you think you are a good person? If so, have you ever stolen anything, lied, looked lustfully, watched adult material? All of those are sins and anyone who sinned is not good(on God's standard). You, I and most( most because babies don't sin, and maybe specifically mentally Ill people) purely human beings have violated God's moral law. Since God is just, He can't let sin go just like that.
So is there any hope? Yes, there is! Out of love and mercy, God became a human being, Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a sinless life and finally died on the cross to bear the punishment we deserve, we deserve to be punished because we have sinned.
The reason why blood must be spilled for forgiveness of sins is because the life of the flesh is in the blood, in the Old Testament Jews sacrificed animals for sins but the sacrifice of animals were enough to temporarily cover some sins. (it did not allow forgiveness of sins, Unlike Jesus's, it only temporarily covered them). Jesus is the Lamb of God, the ultimate sacrifice for sins which is enough for all sins that have been done, are done and will be done. Jesus was buried and rose again. His resurrection proved that His death was enough to pay our penalty, the penalty for our sins. Jesus paid our penalty and in order to accept the free gift of salvation from God, we must trust in Jesus's spilled Blood, His finished work on the Cross for our Salvation. And then your sins will be forgiven because of what Christ did, you will be saved. The biggest difference I notice in Buddhist vs. Christian meditation is the former is all about enlightening one's self. It's self-centered and focused on the mind. The latter is emphasis on the spirit which is different from the soul. It's all about an intimate relationship with Jesus himself.
In the Bible the human is 3-parts like the 3-part Godhead: body, soul and spirit. (The concept of being made in God's image is echoed by how children physically resemble their parents or grands and the passing of any traits or gifts). The spirit is to be put on the top of the pyramid while the appetites of the body are put in submission (not suppression or nullification)--the soul simply intersects and processes the interplay between the body and spirit according to our unique traits.
To a spiritual Christian, Buddhism's focus on the mind is considered 'soulish'--quasi-spiritual but still sensual and subject to human deviation. The mind is the seat of the soul; mind, will and emotions. However, even beyond that, the soul is governed by whatever spirit is sitting at the core. When this core is empty/lonely is when people go out seeking fulfillment through material means, worldly religions will attempt this, worldly spiritual systems open the seeker to forces from the Underworld that parade as angels of light (occult, eastern mysticism, idols, fetishes, nature worship). The desire for spiritual connection is instinctive to humans and Jesus expresses that he is the only truth, safe haven for man because the earth is currently a haunt of demonic activity.
The soul is considered the 6th sense but the spirit is the 7th and can only be given by Jesus not attained through human effort--hence the admonition to approach him with the simplicity and trust of a child.
Buddhism focuses on emptying ones self of desire but the Bible never tells us to empty ourselves but divides between evil and holy desires. The latter are to be pursued (desire for God, desire for marriage, career, talents, etc.) with wisdom, proper priority, and moderation according to God's expressed design. The Bible expresses that God himself has desires--he dreams, creates and it is always good.
Even higher than the soul is the spirit which is dead until the Holy Spirit of Jesus resurrects it through renouncing of worldly sin, renouncing human independence (flesh) from God, and submission to his process of transformation into a new creature. The goal of the spiritual Christian is to be conformed to the image of Christ and express it in the way that is unique to them.
I make a distinction between religious and spiritual Christian because the former is focused on intellectually agreeing with a set of ideas. The ideas foster morality which is good but it goes no further in healing, transformation, and produces a lot of fear and guilt for not being able to meet supernatural standards that can only be done through submission to the Holy Spirit. Even worse if the person has a compulsion, wound or addiction they just can't shake--that goes beyond renouncing flesh and into the realm of demonic oppression. The latter involves actual spiritual transactions, revelations, and experiences with Jesus. These experiences are always in line with scripture because the Spirit of Jesus will never contradict or deviate from the Bible, only elaborate its revelation even more.

God answers--he might take some time, but he really does answer. We all have equal access to the truth of all things--if we just humble ourselves to kneel and pray to know. Live a good life and many blessings just come into your life, along with amazing miracles. Live with an open, honest heart, with good intention for self and others. Nothing selfish

See: Romans 3:10 KJV, Romans 3:23 KJV, Romans 5:12 KJV, Romans 6:23 KJV, Romans 5:8-9 KJV Romans 10:9-10 KJV, Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV, John 3:16 KJV, Leviticus 17:11 KJV, Ephesians 1:7 KJV, Colossians 1:20 KJV, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV.

@@menknurlan I agree with most of what you say, but that doesn't mean every other religion is completely false. Every religion has some amount of truth in it, and Buddhism has a lot of truth. As Jesus said, "not everyone who comes to me saying, "Lord, Lord" will enter the Kingdom of God, but he who does the will of my father in heaven." This is not to say that salvation comes from works, but as James said, faith without works is empty. When we are saved through grace and by faith, we would desire to do good in this world. Buddhist teaching would definitely assist us in doing so. Buddha brings a lot.

When I was 16 I had an experience that would change my life. I suddenly had an understanding of everyone around me and what was hurting them. I could see them as if I could look inside their souls and I understood their pains and struggles and I felt a great almost overwhelming love for everyone. I spoke to many strangers that day and I said things that I could not have known how to say. I shared wisdom and guidance with those around me. It was then that I realized what happened to Jesus and perhaps buddah had to an extent happened to me. A sudden enlightenment, love, and understanding of the world and people. The following day it was gone, gone forever as this was almost 35 years ago. Only something living can create something else living and as a grape vine creates grapes we are the fruits of our universe and so the universe must also be alive. This is why we can connect to the divine and experience enlightenment. we are not connecting to anything that is separate from us, it is us and we are just extensions of it.

No one is divine. It's foolish to think humans are holy and divine and we are extensions of the divine. What utter hubris and arrogance to think such a thought. It's hypocritical to show humility but have a belief that humans are somehow an extension of the divine. Are we also extensions of greed, lust, good, evil, murder, birth, heaven, hell, etc? If that's the case, morality is subjective and the divine being you're enlighten to is nothing but your own human nature. In summary- you're worshiping yourself.
