I've always thought about the poetic side of it like "wow, that piece of art is about me" or "I know the details and the references nobody knows about". Sometimes I've thought about the devasting part of all the memories and the emotions entangled in a certain song. However, listening to you talking about it made me realise that I completely missed the "haunting" part, the song will be everywhere, people will know and all I'll be able to do is stay still and wait until it will all pass. A unique experience surely but way less special than I tought (at least from my perspective).

I love this episode because it seems just like two people having a genuine conversation and catching up. This was amazing, they are both extremely well spoken and clearly very emotionally intelligent. It was really fun to see. Connors comment about media training was funny, I would love to see someone this genuine discuss how having that experience could change some of the ways they communicate. He talked about how it’s almost instantaneous at this point, would that change the ways you communicate with people in romantic relationships?

i literally just got off work and saw the title of this episode and excited squealed and panic texted my best friend and i’m screaming
This episode was so great to listen to and watch. When you started talking about location and how the demographic of queerness changes when you go back home to the midwest I had a pause moment to let that sink in. So I'm from CT in the northeast corner (the quiet corner) and I feel so incredibly isolated where I am as a lesbian woman. I feel like a gay beacon in my town at times and the women are all either straight and dress hard masculine or straight high femme and look at me like a good time haha. It's definitely hot lmao but I want love not to be played with. There are queer women but they are mostly hard masculine so it's so tough to find my people locally for me. Just for a little context, I came out later in life at 29, I'm 31 now. One of the main reasons I stayed in the closet was because of the demographic I live in. Listening to you both talk about LA is just such a pipe dream for me, the closest community I have is in providence RI or NYC but I have to stay in CT at least for another 5 or 6 years until my daughter (who is also queer) goes to college or takes her next step on their own. But anyway, sorry for the long comment haha Shannon, it would be awesome to meet you and also nerve racking 😅 but you seem like such an awesome soul and it feels like we would get along so well. What I assume it is: connor dated troye sivan back in the day, and they broke up during the release of blue neighbourhood. Many songs in there could be for connor, but specially "for him.". Theres a lyric video of troye explaining "the good side" (which is also about connor) where he says that he would sing these love songs and people would sing along happily but in reality it had just ended (we assume he was taking about singing "for him." live). Look up this video of troye bc it explains a lot
