I’m 23. I grew up on Never Say Never as well as her debut album; I remember my mom playing Afrodisiac on a loop in the car. I remember watching Right Here (Departed) on MTV when Human was out. Then I went back and rediscovered Full Moon and Two Eleven for myself as an adult. Still stanning Brandy through B7 and beyond. Truly your favorite vocalist’s favorite vocalist. 🙌🏽

i had previously only known brandy from "the boy is mine" i believe it was called -- while i'm old enough to have heard that on the radio when it was brand new and thought it was a great song, i was too young at the time to really appreciate how unique her voice is. it's really interesting to hear things i missed about artists that were in my periphery at one time. being pretty much the whitest boy you can imagine from the suburbs, i definitely missed out on a lot of black music, which in my adulthood i'm coming to find is where most if not all of the soul of modern music came from. so i definitely still have a lot to learn about the real history of modern music.
it's great that you are trying to put more of a spotlight on artists and genres that have waned in popularity. i am going to listen to more of brandy soon. it might be worth a brief mention in any future videos on artists you clearly know so well to just recommend any albums or songs you think would be a good entry point. just food for thought :)
Great comment! It's unbelievable how influential soul music has been to many genres of music. And I will take your advice and mention other songs/albums I recommend from the artist.
