  • Over the last few weeks, I’ve dedicated my free time to diving into content creation the Apple Vision Pro. When I started, I assumed there would be a clear-cut guide to what I needed to purchase, download, and learn to make this type of content. Some super clean Apple demo with overly friendly, attractive people that manage to speak to each other without a single filler word.
    I was wrong.
    Through a process of trial and error, I encountered several mistakes but eventually identified the essential applications and tools for producing content on the Apple Vision Pro. Today, I'm compiling a video tutorial/overview of these tools within Apple's Spatial Ecosystem to ease your journey into this field. As I continue exploring these applications, I'll share more detailed insights, but this serves as a starting point.

    This is something ive been interested/waiting for. Now we need Blender to run on the Vision Pro. This will be so cool!

    Great overview Michael! I’ve got an older Mac Pro (2013 cylinder) and have lightly dabbled with Reality Composer. I can’t run the latest version of MacOS, so wondering how I’ll be able to test and deploy to my just acquired yesterday(!) Vision Pro. I switched over to PC about 5 years ago for my heavy 3d lifting, GPU rendering and VR. What I’m hoping to learn to do is, get my Unreal Engine content over to the Vision Pro. I’ve learned there is a pricey ($300) USB-C “developer” cable available. Will I be able to connect my Vision Pro to Windows 11? AND, can I then use it as a VR headset, so that I can “preview in VR” direct from inside UE? I’ve been able to port over a few test levels to the Quest 2 and 3 via Android SDK, but it’s always a hassle. I know i’ll probably need to upgrade my Mac to port over to the Vision Pro, I just don’t want to have to switch over to Unity. Initially, I want to start building my own 6DOF immersive environments. Especially after seeing the four Disney+ examples, I know they can have animation. Will Apple allow us to do this, or, will I have to go through the full process of making a custom app that then will need to be accessed from the Vision Pro App Store? As a 3d artist, I just want to start porting my library of 3d assets over to the new headset, and use it as a VR experience too. Looking forward to more videos from you, thx!

      Amazing questions! At this point, I just don't know. I would doubt that Apple tap directly into Windows 11 but I'm wondering if there is a app or service that would act as a bridge and allow you to carry that 3D data over to the Vision Pro directly (other than Unity of course :) Will hopefully discover more soon!

    Hello Michael I appreciate your thoughtful review of the spatial apps. As a product designer with a primary background in Sketch and Figma and no coding experience, may I ask how I can create a 3D animation for the Apple Vision Pro without having to learn Swift? Is it possible for me to create, for instance, a weather animation using Reality Composer Pro and then give it to a developer?

      Yes! Here is Apple's breakdown on something similar using Reality Composer Pro. I would also look into apps like Bezi for this type of workflow as well.

    I can not get Reality Composer Pro to connect to my AVP. The icon in the upper right is gray -- what is required to make that connection live for testing?

      I am in the exact same boat! I'm wondering if you need the developer strap. There's already a question in the community forum that I am going to be tracking. Hit that "Me too" button!

    im trying to use apple vision pro to design a 3D environment, any idea how? using only one software ?Thanks

    • @michaeltanzillo
      @michaeltanzillo  Před 6 měsíci

      It'll depends on what you are trying to do precisely but doing it all in one software will be unlikely.
      First you need 3D models. Which you can either purchase online or create in a software like Blender or Maya.
      You can either do the material application in those apps or in something like Substance Painter.
      From there, you will need to place that designed environment in an Augented/Virtual Reality System. If you want to do that simply, I would use Reality Composer Pro. For more advanced stuff, you will need to either code something in Swift or setting it up in a gaming engine like Unity or Unreal.
      Does that help?
