    • @boeing7676767
      @boeing7676767 Před 6 lety +24

      Hi there! ORD Ramp controller here. A lot of times we have pilots that give the wrong information over to ground of what we want them to do. We monitor ground in our ramp tower to make sure its valid information, that is being given(for example: gate availability, entry points, exit points and double backs using the ramp area). If we hear the wrong transmission being told to ground we give the main tower a phone call and very briefly and quickly explain what is supposed to be done. In the end the ground controller makes it happen. The ramp of itself is extremely busy as well. Especially when there were a lot of gate holds and those gates start to open up. Communication is very mush so key and doing it quickly is a great benefiting factor.

      +flinx My guess.. to much planes to few gates ?

    • @QemeH
      @QemeH Před 8 lety +55

      +flinx It's just... different goals. ATC wants their taxiways clear and often don't understand why an aircraft has to wait on a taxiway if there are ten gates open. But Ramp has to ensure flow of both aircrafts and passengers in the terminal - you can't just accept a plane into any gate, because that would pose a number of logistical challenges, not the least of which would be to get all passengers of the outbound flight to this new gate...
