  • I started in the early morning at the Piedra Blanca Trailhead and took the Sespe River Trail out to Willett Hot Springs passing Bear Creek Trail Camp, Oak Flat Camp, and Thacher Campground. The water level in Sespe Creek or Sespe River was very high. I arrived at the Willett hot spring just before sunrise and soaked in the spring for about two hours. I go so comfortable in the spring that I felt I needed to spend a few minutes out in the cold, which is when I took a look at one of the hot waterfalls. When I got out, I went to explore some of the cabins in Willett camp just east of the hot spring. I left an entry in the lost Willett Files book for 2024. On my way back, I found a container someone hid in 2010 with some toys inside. I also decided to get covered in mud and rinse off in the creek, which was nice. However, the mud was sticky and the river was pretty cold.

FYI: I explore a lot and stumble upon many different things. The way I go about sharing locations is that if someone tells me to keep a spot secret before I wind up finding it on my own, I keep those spots secret. Otherwise, I share information at my own discretion because I like sharing what I find. I may take things down, obscure locations, or remove data upon request as I have done in the past, but a lot of the places I visit are less well known (because I'm exploring), so I could potentially be removing everything if I did things the other way around, which I don't want to do.
If there is a spot you'd like me to keep secret (if I find it), let me know BEFORE. I change my mind about what I keep secret on my own, but if we talk, I am much less likely to jeopardize my integrity than change my mind. There are a few secrets I don't share with people because I agree to keep these spots on the down low (even when I have heard about them through different parties before visiting). If I find a spot on my own on publicly accessible land and I decided to share it despite you not wanting me to, THAT'S ON YOU. These areas are for everyone to enjoy, explore, and share with the world. Feel free to reach out. I am a reasonable person.

Nice video! I’m surprised you crossed that river at night the way you did.

Thanks, it was definitely a little risky. It was certainly easier coming back, but the water level was still pretty high.

Awesome video. You did a great job; especially crossing that river, you should’ve been a navy seal. By the way, where exactly did you park? I’d like to do this hike! I live in the area.

Thanks, the water was pretty cold and quite high, but I found some spots that were shallow enough to cross without getting swept away. It was still well above my waste at parts. I parked at the Piedra Blanca Trailhead and followed the Sespe River trail. I definitely suggest going here, but when the river is a little lower (maybe spring or early summer). This is the first time I've seen the water than high.

@@vern9093 Thanks a lot! I'm living in the LA area these days, but I'll try to make it out there more often as I have the past two weeks. I love the Los Padres.
