  • White Rose Elegy is an emotionally charged tribute to the courageous members of the anti- Nazi resistance movement of the same name. In 1942, five students and one professor from the University of Munich formed this movement to call the German people to resist against the Nazi regime despite the inherent danger of doing so. The White Rose published and widely distributed over 15,000 copies of six anti-Nazi leaflets and conducted a graffiti campaign calling for strong opposition to Nazi control. In 1943, every member of the movement was caught and brutally executed; however, the members of The White Rose live on today as iconic figures in German culture. It is widely thought that the symbol of the white rose was chosen as their name as it represents purity in the face of evil. This beautiful piece by Canadian Brass trumpeter Caleb Hudson reflects their valiant efforts to restore purity and hope during a time of intense darkness.
