Can you test the 1s you have for over 2 years and let me know if it still works and if it remains waterproof lol btw Legend of Zelda series is the most iconic Games because the Triforce and the characters have a different meaning than what the game portrays. Remember Link had a cross and Gannon is a dark man from the dessert and triforce is 3 of the letter K.

Definitely interested in seeing more on Hummer's hack versions. That is a pretty impressive bootleg for the NES/Famicom, capturing so much of the 16-bit game - and I can totally see why they made some of the choices (e.g. repositioning levels). It's not like it was actually illegal to create a Famicom game in the same style, the real issue would be the copyright infringement.

You should do a video on FFVII Demake for the NES. 4-8 Productions did an entire playthrough and it is alot more thorough than what I'd expect. Very impressive considering how they've managed to pack in nearly the entire contents of a 3 disc PS1 game on an NES cartridge.

Creative and dedicated minds can do amazing things with 8 bit hardware. I remember seeing an 8 bit Zelda ROM hack that featured animations from The Wind Waker in the introductory text crawl. I don’t remember the name of the hack, but it blew my mind that they managed to pull off such a thing.

cost is a factor - better the graphics the longer it takes plus the bigger rom that is needed, in theory 1meg can be addressed i believe, but in practice that would of been too expensive for the time period given most games were 32-128k in size, poor tools too hinder things - software interfaces changed drastically between 80s and 90s too, it makes a difference between dos and windows usage.

The earlier ones had a piggyback system to use a genuine cart as they didn’t have a way to deal with the lockout chip. The later ones did handle the lockout chip and didn’t need a genuine cart to be able to run. I have one which has four games, there were several of these as well as a number of single game carts.
