So true wotless, one can write a great song, but the artist who can execute the song to captivate the audience is what counts. This is why we have writers, producers and then the actors who would take it to the box office
Having people say MM should 'give it a rest/give the other artistes a chance for once' is like asking someone to give up their job for a couple years straight with no pay, telling them 'give it a rest nuh, give this person a chance!'. Having MM in soca is honestly the best thing we can do; when has there ever been a MM song that never had a strong presence? From groovy to power, he is a master at his craft and he always put in emphasis in the type and quality of music he puts out i.e. choosing lyrics to melodies. How can you be calling for a different artiste to be 'on top' every year?We should be encouraging everyone to put out their best, Bunji is milking the shit out of his Differentology song until now, while MM continues to change it up every single year and never disappoints. He is one of the few artistes who is always different in a familiar way, even his remixes while the others are generally 'same beat' oriented. I hope we can move past this petty drama.
