  • 1st time filming at Faversham on the Chatham Main Line
Faversham first opened in 1858 by the East Kent Railway although it was rebuilt by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway in 1898.
Electrification of todays 750 volt DC 3rd Rail system reached here in 1959. There was one a spur line to Faversham Creek which was removed and now a housing area.
There are 4 Platforms with all used by through trains with Platform 4 is used by up services either from Dover Priory although mainly used for terminating Class 395 High Speed services from St Pancras International via Ebbsfleet International. Services began running here on December 13th 2009 however since 2015 to increase capacity one service per hour now continues on a loop service to Ramsgate and then from there proceeds back to St Pancras International via Sandwich, Dover Priory and Ashford International where it rejoins HS1. Similar practice is followed in the other direction although proceeding via Ashford Intl to Sandwich and then proceeding back via Faversham, Strood and Gravesend rejoining HS1 from the High Level Platforms at Ebbsfleet International.
The original brick signal box built at the time of electrification was decommissioned in 2014 which control is now passed to Gillingham,
Lifts were installed here In 2012 however due to design errors somehow still remain out of use.
After Faversham the Chatham Main Line splits with services to Ramsgate diverging left towards Whitstable whilst services to Dover Priory continue towards Selling heading via Canterbury East.
Filmed on Saturday April 13th 2019 on iPhone 8 and edited on iMovie
