So here's a fun little story on how this song came to be. As you already know it's a sequel to Little Miss Perfect, BUT... it was also created as a sort of "thank you" to The Owl House fandom. The fandom sort of "claimed" the song some time ago once they realized how well it fit with one of the characters from the show, Amity Blight (not 100%, of course. And you know in Annapantsu's cover of the song? The character she used for the visual was Amity). Since then there have been animatics and stuff made, one of which became incredibly popular, to which the creator of the song, Joriah Kwamé, took notice of. Upon seeing how popular his song became thanks to the fandom, he made the song Ordinary, taking place from the perspective of Amity's crush, Luz Noceda (who is the protag of the show).
...Oh yeah, he's also planning on making a Little Miss Perfect Musical, so that will be exciting!
This animation is so cute tho. I love that we live in a time where songs like this are being made and in such a relatable way
I completely agree! It's so nice to see so much representation. And the animations are ADORABLE!
The "BWAH!" makes me giggle every time. I love how the songs pair together. Both slide into darkness with the "rewind" section, but where Little Miss Perfect ends in it, Ordinary has a beautiful and inspirational rise from the ashes and ends in such a good place.
Also the voice break on "succumb to stupid fear" hits you right in the heart...
RIGHT in the feels 🥲
I realize I am kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch newly released series online?
@Hunter Abdiel I watch on Flixzone. Just google for it :)
@Salvatore Colson Yup, I have been using flixzone for months myself :D
@Salvatore Colson thanks, signed up and it seems to work =) I appreciate it !!
Being a closeted lesbian in a homophobic town, living with a family who I love dearly but I know will disown me if they found out, this is my only salvation.
I claw and grasp for these little nuggets of representation that I’m afforded because they’re so dear to my heart. This song is heartbreaking for good reason, it’s cruel to deny people love, or make them feel like it shouldn’t be theirs or they’re not deserving.
The animation is from the show knows as “The Owl House” and it has super cute and adorable scenes with the two characters you see, (Amity ~ Little Miss Perfect and Luz ~ Ordinary)
Those scenes I replay so often because I sort of live vicariously through them, and any gay couple that have adorable scenes like that, however scarce in the media. I won’t be able to have my own romantic experiences for a long time now which is okay, I mean, I’ve been closeted for a little over a decade now (I’m 19), what’s a few more years?
It just makes my heart soar that more people like me are opening up, and have characters they can resonate with, laugh with, cringe with, cry with, swoon with.
Anyway sorry for that haha you mentioned wanting to open up in the comments and I thought this was my change to get it all out haha
thank you so much for sharing your story
Stay safe!
somehow I relate to both '' little miss perfect'' and ''ordinary''
Great song, love this and little miss perfect. Love your videos keep up the good work.
Thank you!!
The show starts weak, but gets quickly better.
You should react to Ordinary Annapantsu cover too!! It is soooo GOODDDD
It is sooo good
You should listen to “Falling fast” next! It’s also in the Little Miss Perfect musical and it’s a duet between the two girls who sang LMP and this song, I personally love it! ^^
Here’s something you might not have noticed at 9:04 two doors signify girls and boys (girls being pink and boys being blue)
A decade ago at age 14 I had lots of moments where I wanted to “induce amnesia”. I did not know what to do with my crush on another girl. I also struggled with my gender identity. My story ended more like little miss perfect and I was deep in the closet for high school. I wish there were songs and tv shows that showed that it is normal and okay to feel like that.
