- The M16 rifle, officially designated Rifle, Caliber 5.56 mm, M16, is a United States military adaptation of the ArmaLite AR-15 rifle. The original M16 was a selective fire 5.56mm rifle with a 20-round magazine.
The U.S. Army XM16E1 was essentially the same weapon as the M16 with the addition of a forward assist and corresponding notches in the bolt carrier. The M16A1 was the finalized production model in 1967.
To address issues raised by the XM16E1's testing cycle, a closed, bird-cage flash suppressor replaced the XM16E1's three-pronged flash suppressor which caught on twigs and leaves. Various other changes were made after numerous problems in the field. Cleaning kits were developed and issued while barrels with chrome-plated chambers and later fully lined bores were introduced.

Such a well made, easy to follow video. It had to be time intensive. Thank you for doing that. I just bought a brand new, or rather all the parts (except the lower) and never assembled M16A1 and this video will help out a bunch.
The first rifle I ever built was an M16A1 from a surplus parts kit. Makes me happy to watch.

When I was in the army I could literally take an m16a1 apart and put it back together blindfolded, lol. I put unknown thousands of rounds down range with one of these. I had the experts badge.
Had to do it in under 2 minutes. Oh the memories.

The amount of parts this guy just realistically 3d modeled, virtually disassembled, and virtually reassembled is honestly intimidating. Amazing video.
I like and love your work, this weapon has medium bullets, a 105 fire rate per millisecond and has 98% accuracy out of 400 yards like in a medium range, its cartridge is 5.56x45mm NATO and its magazine size is 30.

Hrisav Mukherjee disassembly of AR15 pattern rifles is actually very simple, and the vast majority of the parts removed in the video do not have to be removed for cleaning or maintenance, and many of the parts will never even need to be removed.

Vast majority of the soldiers (except those work in the ordnance stations) are only taught with 'Field Strip', which is about until 0:42 of this video (minus the handguards).

I'm totally not buying a full out lower assembly, a full auto bolt carrier, drilling a 3rd pin in my rifle and rewatching this.
