well a horse is perhaps more dangerous than a dog or a snake. it can easily kill you by kicking you and you cannot defend yourself from an animal that weighs three times your weight and is taller. I can well understand what you mean, in fact a snake even if not venomous is not to be underestimated, but like a ball python if it bites you it is the equivalent of a cat bite, the snakes you should really worry about are the constrictors of big size like reticulated and boas, which in addition to the bite, that hurts and have the muscle strength that can lead you to death.
@@leahfareta9581 I don’t want to sound rude but you said poisonous when talking about snakes they actually aren’t poisonous except for a few and that is because they will eat poisonous animals and then use that as defense snakes are actually venomous poison has to be inhaled ingested or absorbed venom has to be injected into the blood stream which is what a snake does when it bites you and is has venom

My Ball Python (sweetest thing, never bit me in my 4 years of having her) bit my brother a few days ago and she refused to let go. After the initial shock wore off I remembered this video! I grabbed the handle of vodka I had left over from my birthday and it worked like a charm.

Fox Fang I was so nervous about being bitten by a snake for the longest time, and I've had snakes for years! But one day my eastern rat snake got a bit startled and tagged me on my middle finger. I actually laughed out loud at how hilariously painless it was, lol. It felt like the hard side of velcro. Didnt even break skin. I'm sure getting held onto doesnt feel great, but it can't be that bad lol

My ball python did the whole bite n wrap the other day, the initial bite stings a little but after that it doesn't really feel like anything. Keeping in mind that he's nearly full grown at about 3 feet long, he bruised me good and my poor pinkie finger was tender the next day. The day after, tenderness gone. It's been a bit over a week and it's almost fully healed with no bruise or scar. Also, the water technique worked on him!
@@sirenitys.5579 a bite of a ball python does nothing because it is a small constrictor, as in the video she was bitten by small constrictors essentially .. being bitten by a reticulated python or other large / medium sized snakes, it totally changes, it hurts a lot.

@@sirenitys.5579 it is not based on the length of the snake, but on the size of the jaw and the head, the quantity and length of teeth etc .. I mean the force of a bite .. just think of the anaconda that the pressure goes from 800 to 900 psi

I'd just like to say a big ole thank you to Emily and Ed, if you guys are reading this. When I got my first snake 2 years ago, I watched as many of your videos as I could and just soaked up information, one video I watched was this. 2 years later I now have a hognose that mistook my finger for a meal and started munching on my finger rather expeditiously. Thanks to this video, I got him off quite quick and on his own accord. Thanks for your educational videos!

Colubrid teeth are pretty small, so really it's like little pin pricks. They often bleed a lot but they don't hurt too bad.
No boas on the other hand can give pretty nasty bites, especially emerald tree boas.
I'm convinced that Emily and Ed don't feel pain. You can hear in their voices how calm they are. Just another casual day. Not a single indication those bites hurt.
Then there is me watching this and my body instinctively flinches.
But this video is significant. People need to know what their options are if they do get bit by their snakes what they can do to defuse the situation without hurting the animal.
So thank you Emily and Ed for this video! :)
You deal with it long enough you get use to it, just part of the routine
It's not nearly as bad as people think. The anticipation is worse. Once you've gotten bit once (by this size snake), you realize it's no big deal. It's uncomfortable, but it doesn't hurt per se. Every snake owner gets bit at some point.

Very happy that this video was made. Shortly after watching it about 6 months ago my big 3k gram ball python female latched on my arm in a feeding response. ( my first ever bite) i calmly took her to the bathroom and ran her head under cold water. She let me go instantly. Thank you and have been watching your videos for a long time now. Very good info.

I just want to say thank you for all the informative videos you have done from basic snake care, when and what to feed and on how to hold an "aggressive" snake. My boyfriend just recently adopted a baby rat snake and had no idea how to properly care for him/her (we're still not sure what sex it is). I had a 6 ft carpet python bite my hand and wrap me up. After he didn't let go for 10-15 minutes I soaked a Qtip in listerine and touched it to his gums. He let go within 5 seconds. Great video by the way :)

It really doesn't hurt at all really! I have never been bit by a pet snake, but I was bit by a wild snake in Italy which didn't actually hurt that bad. I did bleed, but I've had worse scratches from my cats kitten!

I loove the hognose attitude. My boy is usually a huge sweetheart but he definitely has his days and it always makes me laugh feeling his little head hit my hand, so much personality! He's only bitten me once but it was my fault for not washing my hands something I touched must have smelt like food. I was able to lightly tug him off immediately with no resistance. It literally felt like being bitten by a tiny puppet with sandpaper it its mouth and afterwards he stared up at me like "not food ????" He's a funny and good boy.

yes, but compared to the rest of the types of snakes, *they are small* so their bite don’t hurt so much.. if a large snake bites you, you feel pain. it can tear your tendons as it did to me.

Before watching this video, I wasn't necessarily afraid of snakes, I just was wary of them. But seeing how calm you were while he bite you made me realize that there is nothing to worry about! I really want a snake now, maybe a hognose because they're so cute!

I was bitten by a juvenile boa when I was trying to feed him and I remembered this video and luckily had some mouth wash and it worked immediately! This video is super helpful! ^^
