When I first saw Phil X in a CZcams video I was put off his hyperness but slowly warmed up to watching now because of how much he loves to play. Everytime I watch one of his videos I then go grab my guitar and play for hours. His joy of playing is infectious and inspiring. The guy can shred like a beast but he's extremely creative with any record he works on. Check out his video where he talks about working on the Daughtry album. As a musician he's the whole package and a good example of what is required to make it as a guitarist in the business. I'm 60, have been playing guitar forever and I'm always inspired to create after listening to this guy.
It’s amazing seeing the shift Gibson has made over the past year or so. Between the differences in their product around the board, to the content and community interaction (love ya, Mark!). And ya finally snagged Phil! This is definitely where he belongs. I really think we’re hitting another golden age of the big G, and that’s absolutely killer.
What i really like about Phil's playing is that his playing style never sounds boring and he really knows how to demo a guitar especially when its a Les Paul or an SG =)
Congrats Phil for all your success, you deserve it. It is awesome to see super-players who are still normal. I love SGs, I will get my hands on one of these guitars!

That’s exactly how I learned. In the 80s all of my friends played. We were all in garage bands. It was an amazing time. Graduated HS in 87. We rocked!!!
Truss rod cover off, neck pickup pulled, knobs removed...Phil X modified! Gotta love it, that's rock-n-roll! Guess filmed before he moved the strap button to the horn, so he could flip the guitar around his back? More Phil X please, the man is such a versatile player!!!!

I met Phil in London (2014?) for the guitar event in Olympia Kensington. The guy was the sweetest person in the whole world. I was an awkward little guy and I was so awestruck that I didn't know what to tell him. But he sat there with me cause he knew I wanted to talk to him. Even though I was chatting shit, he sat through it all. Phil is a legend. Anyways, he told me that he would play bouzouki as a young man (I hope I remember this well) and he said that it helped him with his guitar technique and some other pretty cool trivia about him. He understands and speaks a little Greek too. What a dude... He walks in the room and his vibe is so strong that you get cheerful just seeing him. Great guy! Anyway, will this be his new signature model?

I always hated P90 pickups. Then I heard Phil X. Within a year I'd bought a Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute with P90 pickups. In an era where guitar players mostly play chucka chucka funk buried in the pop mix, Phil X and his band The Drills is still bringing it! I freaking LOVE this guy!!!
Assuming they play any guitar in the first place! But you're right about instruments played by human beings buried in the mix. Record companies leave no room for the human element, which is susceptible to mistakes but also talent.
