The UFC really used Khabib as a pawn to get Eddie to accept the fight with Conor with little turn around time after Eddie told the UFC brass that he needed a break and was burnt out. The UFC threatened to strip Eddie of his belt and sent a fake contract to Khabib to fight Conor for the vacant belt to force Eddie's hand. They used this as a negotiation tactic to get Eddie to sign the contract. It was Eddie's last fight on his contract and he was forced to accept it before he was ready to make a turn around and for less money, his leverage in his next contract negotiations, and threatened to be stripped of the title. The UFC really is a PR machine. They can easily help manufacture careers. Some end up hype trains and others are the real deal, but get the fast pass and dont get intentionally tested in their matchups until at the highest level.

he actually just climbed the ranks until he got the title shot......if he was finishing guys in exciting fashion, he would have got a title faster.....however before he got title, he missed weight a bunch of times, only fought about once a year and usually won by decision .....also Tony got robbed, he was ranked higher than Khabib, got stripped of interim title while khabib got gifted the title fighting the number 11 guy....seems more like special treatment
