I love growing beans..and my family enjoys eating them. My daughter loves the orca beans. We have grown runner beans this year they are beautiful.

I enjoyed this overview of different beans - thanks! I especially like the Orca bean - last year I was looking into unique bean varieties and ran across that one. A few weeks later we rescued a feral kitten who was black and white (with the cutest little white mustache!). I went over all kinds of name ideas and couldn't figure out what fit right, but in the meantime I was calling him "little Bean" because he was so tiny and with his coloring he reminded me of the Orca beans I had just learned about. After a while "Bean" just stuck and just felt right. He's such a goofball, too, so he needed a bit of a silly name. =) So one of these days I will have to try growing the beans he was named after! Haha. Thanks for the great info!

How do you know when to pick beans for drying, and what's the best way to dry them? I love your seeds!

How do you cook with the scarlet runner beans?

To prepare the dried beans for eating, first soak the dried beans in cold water for 12 hours. Then cook for approximately 2 hours, or until tender.
