- So, the Thunder saga was great. I createdthis animatic on the first emotions. There are some deviations from canon, and i'm not as proficient as other people in the fandom. In any case, enjoy watching it.

It’s starting to occur to me that this man, supposedly one of the greatest heroes in human history, isn’t a hero at all. He’s just a man.
He didn't sacrifice them in the original epic. He warned them not to eat the sacred cattle of Helios. They disobeyed and Helios asked Zeus to strike the ship with a bolt as a punishment. Odysseus was the only survivor.
To be fair. This is directly after mutiny. They betrayed him and then didn't listen to him.

To be fair, they fucked that one up but also, the greek heros where never ment to be of superior moral. Heracles murdered his family, achilles abandoned the war over a petty scabble, little ajax r4ped cassandra who had sanctuary, great ajax xed hinself after going on a rampage cause he lost in a competition, jason betrayed the woman he owed pretty much all his accomplishments too, ....
And odysseus murders a f ton of peoole and then when he is told they should stop with grudge and blood spilling after achiving all his goals, he wants to go after the family of the dead instead
@@SingingSealRiana Good point. There is a 3,000 year cultural gap between ourselves and the original authors and audience of this story, during which a lot of our basic philosophical assumptions about the world have changed considerably.
It occurs to me too that he’s not only their captain but also their king. Responsible not only to them but all of Ithaca. So our modern notion that the captain should be the last one off the vessel and should prioritize his crews safety, that we apply to merchant mariners and naval officers, might not apply in this setting.
