This video provides in-depth personal review of all the medical equipment I needed while recovering from my trimalleolar ankle fracture and surgery during which I was non weight bearing on my right leg. I list and describe all Durable Medical Equipment (DME) / mobility assistive devices used and demo and explain their use such as: bedside commode, shower chair, rolling walker, wheelchair, crutches, and knee rover knee scooter. I also review all additional equipment items I was so glad I had during my recovery such as knee pillow, ankle ice pack, cast cover for shower, hand held shower, reacher/grabber, etc.

You are good at crutching.
Very nice and useful video . Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome!
I was fortunate when I broke my ankle September 2021 that I didn't need surgery on mine. I had to wear the boot for six weeks and then that was extended one week. I walked on my break for 9 days even while on vacation. I couldn't do crutches. I ended up with cellulitis and had blood clots so unsure what you would be facing post-surgery when it comes to things like that. I had great doctors and medical care throughout and am glad it's over though. It took nearly a year before I felt it was truly healed and just this summer before I started counting steps again. Good luck and best wishes during yor recovery.
Thank you for sharing your story! Yes it’s quite a journey and mine is only 12 weeks in right now… but thanks for the encouragement and I’m glad you are on the other side now!
These are hard lessons to learn. 8 ankle surgeries over a span of 8 years...I am a pro on crutches.
Speedy recovery wishes and hats off for making it look so good.
@@jeffreymiller9706 8 surgeries!! 🙁😮😢 oh my goodness. You’ve been through it! I just never got good with crutches while non weight bearing, but I did like them once I was weight bearing in the boot and more mobile.
How is your ankle doing now?
@MountainsRiverSea 2018 had a total ankle replacement...so far so good. Thankfully I liked the casts and crutches.
@MountainsRiverSea you may be broken, but you're still beautiful!!!
Loving your videos! I just broke my ankle and am finding your videos super helpful and comforting. I ordered the All Terrain Knee Rover and am almost 5ft 5in, but it says from 5'6", I'm thinking I should be fine, it gets here tomorrow, how tall are you and did you notice how height might make a difference with its usability?
Sorry about your ankle! But glad the videos are helpful. I am 5’7” but I think you will be ok height wise… I used the All terrain mostly outside, so maybe wear a thicker shoe or a hiking shoe and that’ll give you an extra inch of reach on your good leg.
When does the cast go on?
How long was a cast or boot on
I was in a soft cast/ splint for 2 weeks after surgery and then in the ankle boot for another 6 weeks (4 more weeks of non-weightbearing then 2 weeks while first weightbearing and finally came out of the boot)
@@MountainsRiverSea wish you had more videos in the boot
@@matthewclabo9365 yeah sorry about that … I was only actually walking in the boot for just 2 weeks (was on the scooter the rest of the time) but here are 2 other videos with me using the boot. The first video I’m just putting it on. The second video (around minute 4:03 of the chimney rock video) there is a section where I walk all the way up the entrance tunnel on my crutches while in the boot when I was first weight-bearing.

How did you break your ankle??
On a river camping trip Labor Day weekend. It was stupid though, jumped awkwardly off a fallen tree. 🤦♀️ left ankle rolled and right leg tried to catch me but it got trapped under me instead
See all about it here! 😂😊czcams.com/video/FIZ9UtqwHfA/video.htmlsi=4vzGmaGzgFAfo8mh
@@MountainsRiverSea no that's not crazy way to break your ankle all sure it happens more than you think. How did you get out the woods?? Could you walk on it? Are even stand on it? Must had been painful? Did you have to get it set back in place?
@@allencooke2356 couldn’t stand on it, couldn’t walk on it. I reset it myself as soon as it happened bc I knew it was dislocated but I think I was also still in shock. Then the pain set in and I realized it was broken as well…
My brother and husband helped me get down to the river and into a kayak and then we paddled an hour down the river to our take-out car and drove me to the ER
@@MountainsRiverSea wow you reset it that is hard core that must it been awful?? But good thing you did because you may have losted blood flow then you could have losted your foot!! A hour down river that must had been horrible? The splint looks pretty cool on you shows off your cute toes pretty good.
