    I am a Turkish tobacco producer. Our products are uniquely delicious and ranked first among the rarest products in the world. We dry them slowly with the sun. The sun is soil and wood. That's Turkish tobacco.

      I agree with you. They are uniquely delicious. What would we do without them. They enhance any blend.

    Turkey still produces a lot of tobacco, but since there are no more pipe tobacco manufacturers here anymore, they sell most of it to other places. People use these tobaccos to roll their own cigarettes mostly, and they are bought in bulk. Usually cut into very thin ribbons.

    Tell me more. I must know more. All these tobaccos from all over the world, I must know more. How do they taste, blend, interact, and where can we find examples of each? Where can a novice smoker learn about the individual characteristics of each of these different tobaccos? I want to know more.

      @@kbbl102.5 Yeah, if the tobacco police would stop destroying the entire culture and market trying to ban tobacco around the world. You can't find anything good anymore apart from maybe D&R tobacco, and even many of their fine orientals have either gone or altered to be less good the last decade. The quality tobacco market has been almost completely destroyed while chemical-laced garbage is still being produced and sold readily just in disgusting packaging. Ironically the far more harmful and addictive junk tobacco products are what they've kept alive. There used to be an amazing fine cut Greek oriental and sun-ripened Virginia blend called "Akropolis" that only came out in 2014. That was discontinued, as every other has been, only a year or so after release, despite selling like hot cakes. The reason being the destruction of the Oriental tobacco market.

      @@AD-kv9kj truth. I guess I'm lucky to have fallen into a good group of pipers since I started. They spoil me with the old stuff. Cheers.

      Yes I do miss times gone by before internet regulations on tobacco products came into effect. Example being shipping, you can ship here but not there. Also exorbitant taxes on tobbaccos especially U.K.Also France and the European Union banning Galois and Samson blends because they are popular with the younger generation.
      It bothers me greatly that some bureaucrat can dictate what I can and cannot get regarding tobacco products.
      Who do they think they are. What hypocrites! How dare they. Myself and millions of people love these varieties. Who are they to say I cannot have them as if they are controlled substances. We are talking about tobacco. Not opium, hashish, etc. You get my point.
      I have found one way although one way is to purchase whole leaf tobacco and process it yourself. A bit of trial and error but if you stick with it, you can make beautiful blends.
      Good day pipers. If your in the U.S. enjoy the 4th of July weekend, be careful because in some areas one can't even smoke outside....absolutely hard to believe that one can't light up outside.
      This is the world we now live in. Careful you can be arrested and or pay an exorbitant fine. Hard to believe but true.
      Be careful pipers
      Your friend in the struggle...Jacques

    • @PipesAndCigarsCom
      @PipesAndCigarsCom  Před 7 lety +1

      Unfortunately, a lot of the varietals that used to be readily available are very hard to find. Two particular Greek Orientals that are still widely used are Basma and Drama. The latter is highlighted in McClelland Grand Orientals - Drama Reserve, and Basma is found is a large number of blends, including Hearth & Home Marquee WhiteKnight.
