      Hey Magnus! Video idea here: Climbing an entire day without chalk, work your way up and see what the hardest problem without chalk is that you can do, and then maybe to end the video use chalk on a couple problems or in a future video (as a 5 min segment or something) to show the difference. I think it would be fun not only seeing the difference, but seeing you go without trying to use chalk 😂. Either way, best of luck and thanks for the awesome content!

    • @since1876
      @since1876 Před rokem +6

      I think what happens is a weird bit of psychology. The best climbers look at themselves and see all the ways they can improve, so they always seem to think of themselves as not all that good...just because they're not good enough to do something that's EXTREMELY out of most people's realm of possibility.
      The people who brag about being the best actually think they are the best, so they never really push themselves to get better. Which, of course, means they brag about being amazing even though they're barely mediocre.
      I think most people need to have some level of self deprecation in order to really push themselves into a deeper workout. Of course, it also needs to be a healthy level, otherwise you can go in the wrong direction and lose the will to keep going.
      For example, when I play chess, I can beat most casual level chess players. I understand the fact that I'm better than probably half of the chess players in the world, if you consider everyone who's played chess to be a chess player. I just know that I'm not good enough and that I need to always be studying and working on problems so I can be better. I don't need to be the best. I just need to always be better than I am. And I need to always remind myself that I'm not good enough, even though I know I'm good at the game. If that makes any sense... 😂
      Avoid arrogance, but understand that you're good at something while still understanding that you always need to push yourself to be better.

    I got into climbing because of you about a year ago but there are no climbing gyms around so I’ve been practicing hang boarding ever since. Just got to go to a gym for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it, thank you.
    Update 3 months later: got my first v2 yesterday!

    I love the vids with Pete and you trying the same boulders, we can clearly see how a static climber try something differently than a more dynamic climber. Keep it up guys !

    I like how he picks up the chalk at 19:15. He probably has enough money to just grab more from the bag and he still cleans and picks that one. I think that shows a lot of his personality and how humble he is.
