Hey Magnus! Video idea here: Climbing an entire day without chalk, work your way up and see what the hardest problem without chalk is that you can do, and then maybe to end the video use chalk on a couple problems or in a future video (as a 5 min segment or something) to show the difference. I think it would be fun not only seeing the difference, but seeing you go without trying to use chalk 😂. Either way, best of luck and thanks for the awesome content!
Magnus, when are we going to see your iron-cross attempt?
You should totally get Tommy Caldwell to do this route
the battle vid was super awesome by the way, could we get another?^^
THANK GOODNESS! I WAS ALMOST SAD THAT THIS VIDEO MIGHT NOT INCLUDE MAGNUS EZPLAINING VPN'S TO US. . . . PHEW . . BULLET DODGED ;) HAPPY YULE TO YOU AND YOURS X
This boulder just makes cents.
It only made cents after he changed it.
Thanks for that
Yeah, it really looked good on the wallet was on.
Internet broken
Nice. I Loved This Video, But Also Couldn’t Watch It ⚖️
I’m an arm amputee missing my entire right arm. Climb fairly well with one arm. Would love to see a video of you bouldering with 1 arm. Bouldering is much harder then climbing big walls for me.
That's so impressive
teach me the way. i broke my left arm yesterday
@@pythor2607 rip
How do you do it? I've seen people do it missing a forearm that have special prosthetics but missing the whole arm?
Youre the coolest person ive seen in a comment section
Me: struggles to pick a coin up off the ground sometimes
Pete and Magnus:
I imagine you look like you're climbing a boulder horizontally when trying to pick up that coin.
In climbing gym, coin pick up you
You lift a coin off the ground with your body, they lift their bodies off the ground with coins.
I’m late to the party but this comment thread kicks ass 🤣

@@bshthrasher that might actually be an advantage because you could break them in specific ways or softly drill holes for a specific edge, you would just have to be careful putting them on the wall lol.
“so this is a bad hold, then the next hold is really bad, then you cross over and the next hold is nothing, then you bump up and the last hold is really bad. “

I actually saw the coins when i was bouldering at the climbing senter the other day and i was soooo confused ahahaha, at least I got my answer as to why now

I love how Pete acts like he’s your average v4-v5 climber at your local gym but in reality he’s on of the best in the world
Heheheh, and when I see them struggle with some holds and moves I wonder who these two monsters are setting these problems for...
Definitely one of the best at using and manipulating his legs and feet. His heel and toe hooks are nuts.
I think what happens is a weird bit of psychology. The best climbers look at themselves and see all the ways they can improve, so they always seem to think of themselves as not all that good...just because they're not good enough to do something that's EXTREMELY out of most people's realm of possibility.
The people who brag about being the best actually think they are the best, so they never really push themselves to get better. Which, of course, means they brag about being amazing even though they're barely mediocre.
I think most people need to have some level of self deprecation in order to really push themselves into a deeper workout. Of course, it also needs to be a healthy level, otherwise you can go in the wrong direction and lose the will to keep going.
For example, when I play chess, I can beat most casual level chess players. I understand the fact that I'm better than probably half of the chess players in the world, if you consider everyone who's played chess to be a chess player. I just know that I'm not good enough and that I need to always be studying and working on problems so I can be better. I don't need to be the best. I just need to always be better than I am. And I need to always remind myself that I'm not good enough, even though I know I'm good at the game. If that makes any sense... 😂
Avoid arrogance, but understand that you're good at something while still understanding that you always need to push yourself to be better.
Yup - so humble and unassuming - a genuinely nice guy that is really likeable
Maybe even one of...although I don't think he is on of.
The most impressive thing here is the softness of shoes you climbed the money problem with Magnus 😅 i need ski boots on my feet to stand on those edges, haha
Yes! Here you were talking about how stiff your shoes needed to be and then Magnus cruises up in his Dragos 😂

The way Magnus just nonchalantly puts all the chalk back without Pete saying anything leads me to believe this happens more than it should
Keeps it classy. I like this dudes positivity

But 7A+ after he sends it

Pete: Literslly climbing on COINS

He's even using chalk to explain how VPN works. Is there no limit to the uses of chalk?!?!

This route probably should go through some more. . . ."Changes". . . .
Building my own climbing wall finally seems affordable! Just have to become strong enough to hold 1mm holds. Great video idea, Magnus 😂
If you make your own holds out of wood (just cut and sand some cheap lumber) you can make real usable (and skin-friendly) holds for cheap
yes selfmade holds out of wood are pretty good or just bolt everything you have onto your wall xD
I have seen pretty creative holds before, but wood is really safe. Other things might break.
Look up climber dad! He has some holds that are super quick to make and will work great!
@@nick-mf7fe yes, it means that compared with the plastic holds you see at gyms or rock outside, your skin will be damaged far far less. You can climb until your fingers can't move and your skin still won't break.
@@nick-mf7fe not THAT friendly 😂
I've been loving these videos with Pete. It's great to see the differences in your climbing styles and how you'll often approach the same problem in very different ways.
Pete breaks the beta on black 😂
(Hope I said that right ? )
Pete's outdoor rock climbs are absolutely ridiculous!
Yeah, it's nice to watch someone who can climb better than Magnus in certain styles since Magnus is usually so much better than everyone else. Although watching Magnus destroy everyone else is fun too.
Pete seems like an awesome dude
My fingers are feeling the pain just by watching that lol
Pete's description of how I've been climbing for the last 40 years: "The beginner way."
I know I'm not alone in saying, I definitely would love to see more videos of you setting your own boulders. It would help us beginners as well by understanding what goes into it, what the thought process is and how to read boulders when we see them. If we can understand the intentions more, it will help us figure them out.
Also, it's just fun seeing you build a problem from the ground up and solve issues along the way until it works.
And it's super fun seeing Pete cheat all of magnus's problems 😂 absolute British sandbagging beast.
19:15 Marte is gonna yell at you for leaving the chalk bag open
When the crack spilled
The coin boulder was really impressive, but seeing how both of you were creating a new hard boulder like that, and then thinking how to solve it and improving it was freaking awesome and interesting!! Good job guys!
Next: climbing a wall with no holds
Dihedral which is slightly slaby with good friction would be possible
Climbing a wall, with no wall imo
Fun Story in my home gym in munich there are some positive angled walls. So we saw one of those holds that are supposed to help you back down and set that as our finishing hold. Well about an hour later we got up. No holds, no start and just that one finishing hold. (To make this clear we used the polygons that were in the wall because gym rules say they count as walls)
Did it in Ninja Warrior gym betwixt two plastic walls no holds.
After that: climbing a wall without a wall
"The next hold is good.... *relatively*.." LOL
Ironically the boulder made entirely out of money is cheaper than the other boulders. Love from sweden
Hulk
I didn't realize that holds were that expensive wth
@@danzeelot4845 Oh yeah, definitely…especially for the larger ones.
@@DrewNorthup how much

9:51 my name a borat
the Magnus's reaction on the black bolder at 14:56 "noooo" haha Gold!
I've always heard "More money more problems" but this is ridiculous Magnus :D
Fun vid.
You and Pete should set the boulder problem from ellcap to show non climbing fans how hard it is. That would be a great vid 👍
I would kill for a series like that in general, one that just replicates famous problems. They could do Mightnight Lighting, La Marie Rose and other classics, as well as new ones like Burdon of Dreams and Alphane. I think that would be so awesome for someone with access to the kind of crazy hold selection and wall space they have to show how some of these problems can be recreated and how much it costs, etc.
Waiting for the iron cross challenge , are you practising Magnus?
I don't even know why i'm being here, i don't really watch or practice climbing. But i've been somehow hooked to this guy and his friends just by watching one whole of his videos during a breakfast at the pc. Now, he even explains how the sponsored VPN actually works. Stop seducing this happily straight guy, Magnus!
CZcams algorithm took me to Pete & Tom in the crack cellar for some unknown reason. Wound up interested I stay for the whole video. By the end I was awestruck and a little amazed with a bit of disbelief when Magnus started effortlessly firing out one armed pull-ups. Pulls of 1 armed Muscle-ups in another video.
Like, "No friggin way!!" So he does it again...
Inspired me to give up climbing before I Never even considered it..
Super random but I met a dude that looked like you in Oslo working in a coffee shop and it turned out to be your brother.
With bouldergyms closed I have been trying to climb up a brick wall in my room, I thought those where way to small crimps but you just climb using coins!! Absolutely insane!
Pete Whittaker saying "Good effort!" always makes me feel so good.
I like how in climbing gyms, a "bad hold" isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's just a greater challenge.
The addition of Pete to your videos is great his solving adds a nice variation to problems
19:15 crackhead behaviour
Made me laugh!
Hahahahhahaha
Hahahaha ikr

I could watch Magnus and Pete collabs every week. They could make a channel, and only do videos a couple of times a year - I’d still subscribe. Their setting videos are great.
Magnus: “I don’t think I can do this”
Also Magnus: *does it second try*
God I love watching you and Pete. Gotta get Tom aswell so they can try to get you crack climbing again lol
This is how it feels to climb out of my student loans
Lol (I know it's a recycled joke but still got an irl chuckle)
@@codyheiner3636 Well it is relatable...sadly
I love both watching the thought process in sussing out the climbs and also how encouraging you both are.
you should make a video where you try boulders but before using a hold for your hand, you have to touch it with your foot. i do it sometimes as a drill and its super fun. it would also be really fun to watch. it gets really pumpy, especially on overhangs, so it would be cool to see how hard you and Marte could climb.
omg i know theoretically swedish is a legit language, but seeing kalkstasjon written like that is amazingly adorable for me as a dutch speaker
Great climbing duo. Different strengths and a good sense of humour
Pete has such an infectious character, you cannot help but like him..., watched two colabs now with him, this and also one with Toby Segar from Storror. In both Pete is a very likable fella. I am not a climber myself, but there is something captivating watching people do this stuff. Loving Magnus' videos
Love these collaborations! You two make a great team.
Love watching you guys make problems and then try and do them. Great one!
Pete is so efficient on orange and the you watch Magnus and you can see he just has so much power to burn
I agree although Pete's first move didn't look too good. I guess he's a little too tall.
Watching you climb and set with someone at a similar skill level to you is such good content, cant wait for more vids.
I'd imagine Pete is quite used to it from training with Tom so often but I'd love to hear Magnus's thoughts on working problems with another elite climber.
It’s pretty amazing the difference between Magnus and Pete’s climbing style. Pete is very static and full crimps a lot, whereas Magnus moves dynamically and uses a half or open hand on the exact same holds.
I got into climbing because of you about a year ago but there are no climbing gyms around so I’ve been practicing hang boarding ever since. Just got to go to a gym for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved it, thank you.
Update 3 months later: got my first v2 yesterday!
Loving these videos together. Route setting is always interesting and seeing your different approaches is really enjoyable. Thank you.
I love the vids with Pete and you trying the same boulders, we can clearly see how a static climber try something differently than a more dynamic climber. Keep it up guys !
Magnus: tells me to check out Pete's channel - points at me with shoe lol
You should be subscribed to it already "young lady" (wagging finger like Magnus Midtbo's shoe)
I’m gutted this just came up as I go off my break! Catch you later Magnus!
I loved watching the setting process and how you tweaked it to create such an awesome problem for green.
watching you guys set routes is my new favorite way to watch rock climbing. Its a combination of creation and climbing!
19:15 Magnus picking up chalk like some sort of chalk golem.
I like how he picks up the chalk at 19:15. He probably has enough money to just grab more from the bag and he still cleans and picks that one. I think that shows a lot of his personality and how humble he is.
Another great video Magnus. These videos with pete have been brillant. You both seem to get on really well and enjoy climbing snd settling together. Thanks and Happy New Year!
I've been loving these videos with Pete and his chuckle. You guys look like you're having a great time.
This is so dump.
I love it.
Hot coffe ✅, biscuits ✅, tv set up ✅! Good to go! Thanks again for (i am sure) another episode! Wishes for a happy new year with lots of climbing!
This was sooooo good! Amazing to see you climbing with Pete! Fantastic video!
Been watching your channel for quite a while now. And it's been one of the greatest motivational and inspirational sources for me in the last and this year as well. Thak you very much for all your time, effort, and amazing content! It's great to watch you developing the channel and growing yourself. Nicely done and keep going. Greetings from Moscow :-)
Pete: You need really stiff shoes for this!
Magnus: *slips on a pair of dragos*

Can't see the holds, if you move your feet you fall, and they're all basically the same hold.
Just like a real granite slab! Perfect.
Love Pete Whittaker! He's so good at talking about climbing ♥o♥
First two (a)cents on the new money boulder, great stuff!
Watching the solving and building process was great!
I love when you and pete set boulders. these are my favorite videos.
Is it just me or when he puts his hand in the chalk bag is satisfying
Watching the difference in styles between Pete and Magnus is really interesting. Not just the crack Vs boulder stuff, but power Vs balance.
It's great seeing you climbing with some1 who is also strong.
Wow, these have been quite some videos with pete already and there are even more to come? damn, thats great.
I loved this one! Watching you two work out that green over a dozen attempts was brilliant
That coin problem was really cool. You should try more things like that. Like climbing on Lego and stuff haha
Fun fact: This is how spider man's wall climbs were filmed in the original trilogy. Makes you appreciate Tobey Maguire just a little bit more.
hi Magnus, thanks for all your teachings and demonstrations on how to do it.
Loved watching these two climb together.

Magnus: yeah, next one is good.

I think Magnus has a different idea of what constitutes a "good" hold than the rest of us.
Sorry im so late... know you were worried😣
Just got here myself so no probs 🙂
I just started trying bouldering for fun a few weeks ago become of you. Theres no gym near me and so ive only gotten about 4h of practice in and my god is it hard to stand on what you consider "normal holds". The strength you need for this sh*t is insane.
Great videos! I enjoy watching you problem solve through everything and cant wait for the next one! So upload more :D
Love watching you guys set routes and then climbing them. Maybe you and pete could take it in turns placing a hold on a wall and then see how it climbs.
Dream team!! Really enjoy these Pete/Magnus vids
I really enjoy seeing the setting process, great video!
love the pete and magnus videos. seeing the differences in climbing styles and strengths on the same problem so cool
Content, Montage = Entertained. The pace was really good in this one. Thanks :)
Will be getting low on content with everything and travel closed & stopped can see some desperate times ahead !
Honestly the most impressive thing ever!
I've been loving these collabs! Great to see Pete in your videos. :D
Been binge watching your videos i think i'm now addicted to climbing, great work dude !
