- Rezitativ und Arie by Luciana Serra (Königin der Nacht) with
The Metropolitan Opera Orchestra conducted by James Levine;
KöNIGIN;
Recitativ
O zittre nicht, mein lieber Sohn!
Du bist unschuldig, weise, fromm;
Arie
Zum Leiden bin ich auserkohren
Denn meine Tochter fehlet mir,
Durch sie ging all mein Glück verloren --
Ein Bösewicht entfloh mit ihr.
Noch seh' ich ihr Zittern
Mit bangem Erschüttern,
Ihr ängstliches Beben,
Ihr schüchternes Streben.
Ich mußte sie mir rauben sehen,
Ach helft! war alles, was sie sprach;
Allein vergebens war ihr Flehen,
Denn meine Hülfe war zu schwach.
Allegro
Du wirst sie zu befreyen gehen,
Du wirst der Tochter Retter seyn.
Und werd ich dich als Sieger sehen,
So sey sie dann auf ewig dein. - Hudba
Semplicemente perfetta 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
She does the best version of Oh Zittre Nicht by far.
So subtle, so morose and then so purely brilliant, and yet all the time never out of character or perfect control.
+Juan Pablo Parada Zelada Absolutely! Her vocals are on point and transitions immaculately as if it was an instrument being played! It really is by far the best version yet.
Cristina Deutekom does better in my opinion.
@@Tony-qn6sb I think they both are wonderful vocalists with different assets, I would say that Luciana Serra is more emotional in her movements which carry into her voice, while Cristina is purely resentful, still, and almost inhumane which reflects on how her coloratura is precise, almost like a synth. I wouldn't say better, but different! :>)!
definitely my favorite performance. she hits those sixteenth note runs with such clarity!
The coloratura section is superb. The diction could use some work, but with coloratura that clean, it's no wonder she got hired plenty.
Just wonderful. Perfect coloratura, perfect peformance. Unbelievable Dame Signora Serra. Thanks for the post.
This is just stunning. Purists might argue that the coloratura passage is written legato, but give me machine-gun coloratura anytime over some sliding mush that often has to pass for it. This lady has incredible skill and this is a truly electric and thrilling performance. I love the look on her face as she finishes and turns to walk away, there is that kind of "nailed it" glance towards the other singer.
+Basso Bel-Canto Yeah that confident look got me from the first time I saw this performance and always puts a smile on my face :)
The sadness of a mother losing her daughter that she sings in this aria is so touching that always makes me cry...
She is my favorite!!
You obviously don't know the whole opera.
The best quenn ever!!!!!!!!!!!
Einfach nur Genial! Klasse deutsche Musik von Mozart!
Waw, absolutely stunning... I wish I were there that day ✨
4:04-4:33 is the most challenging part of this whole aria which she nailed and no one does it so perfectly like she does. Dessay does a good version but Damrau seems to struggle with this part and doesn't have the flexibility enough to transition between notes and hence why she kind of grins her teeth where as Serra does it with her mouth wide open and u can clearly hear the notes changing as if it was a piano being played. That's the sign of a true vocal skill
mushaakiss so true! What a clear voice 😍
Honestly you should hear the version sang by Cristina Deutekom
unbelievable coloratura! so clean and perfect!
i loved her final coloratura, is so great!!
Magnificent!!!
@xXxidealess No, it's not obvious, which is why I asked. I have never seen someone 'laugh' like that at an aria before. She is sheer genius, so not many people laugh at her talent.
her clarity is unparalleled. I agree.
the queen of opera!!!
Fantastic!
This is the ture Bel Canto!
her clarity is unparalleled!
Je l'ai en DVD. Une des meilleures versions.
beautiful x_x...
3:33 Rock me Amadeus
THE ONLY ONE.........AMAZING!
Eccezionale
Bravo!
The best
I am totally impressed, from 3:34 to the end.
définitivement ma préférée
I want the ONE 'Don't like' to come forward so I can prove him/her wrong. ¬¬
@darlinglisa7 geez...ok, since im not really a fan of this genre, cant i respect her talent and be amused at the same time? it just sounds and looks funny at that part! my whole class was laughing to death watching it in music class! didnt mean to insult or anything...
@darlinglisa7
This comment is very indicative.
It is obvious that intellect of young people is now has been completely damaged by the contemporary life.
I had my last class ( I teach math in university) filled with students of this quality. I was not able to get through their mind. They showed a profound inability to learn. It was a semester of torture. I never returned to the class afterward and stopped teaching.
Sad, very sad.
why applause when they aren't ready
@victoryt1 believe me, i get your point, i had a teacher like that at that time and i could understand him AND such students. i admit that what i said was prolly unnecessary idk why i said it... but i still think you're seeing it a bit onesided too huh?maybe the students hadn't always been treated good by their teachers or there was some other reason? or they were afraid to look uncool in front of their friends if they didnt mock the music? theres always some reason, even if not the right one.
@darlinglisa7 well partly because she looked like a singng bird at some parts, and because.. idk.. it just sounds and looks so funny! isnt that obvious?
i laughed so hard at 4:05 - 4:35 omg :D
3:33
English translation of the clip causes pain.
@skitzo429 why if I may ask?
How can I get this performance with a disc? What are more recommended keywords to google?
Go to Amazon and search "Die Zauberflote Levine Metropolitan Opera"!
@BabyiAliaja548 also das passt hier wirklich net rein, also echt mal Oô
@xXxidealess Ummm, why did you laugh so hard?
@goldkehlchen1993 her voice is small and not really particularly attractive with somewhat of a wobble up higher (which is never attractive on a cloratura), and her lower notes are weak. Her technical merits are just, and she sounded somewhat better when she was younger (I think this is the production with kathleen battle as Pamina from the 90s), but her voice just isnt my taste.
@victoryt1
I agree with roman1akid... being harsh on young people isn't going to make them realize their "fault". We have to help them appreciate the worth of the classics. Given the chance, most ppl will c its beauty. But, if anything, I think your generation has failed to instill within us a connection to the classics.
BTW: Blaming young people for you quitting your job is simply unfair. It is YOUR job to make your students love math as much as it is their job to learn.

This is not my favorite performer of this aria.
