I remember watching Alcaraz popping up in '21 and thought to myself, like everyone else, that "this kid is going to be something else". But none of us would have imagined that just two years later, he would be beating Djokovic in a 5-setter at a Wimbledon final (AFTER winning the USO and becoming N.1). He is truly special.

Yeah but before the final you thought it was possible. Well I did I literally bet on him winning 3-2 😁
Also his grand slam record last year was exactly the same as Lleyton Hewitt 2001 and even his seeding in Wimbledon last year & this year was the same as Hewitt 2001 & 2002 with identical results both years so I thought he'd win Wimbledon this year but obviously I knew Djokovic in the final would be a difficult match.

Stopped watching tennis since Roger stoped playing; however; when I was trying to watch the game btw him and Sasha; I started to root for Sasha; then he stole my heart. I was like- who is this guy? Amazing and beautiful shots! I thought no one can ever hit a artistic forehand as Roger any more; but he did carried on Roger’s Beauty if not more. Carlos rewrote tennis history. He prevented Novak from matching both Federer (8 titles) and Borg / Federer (5 in a row). Also the French/Wimbledon double for a second time and a potential calendar slam and the No.1 ranking as well as undisputed greatest status. This was incredibly significant. Much more than people realize.. Carlos is the most complete player i have ever seen at 20. Generational talent. And he is still developing. Wait and watch.

No need to gatekeep for Rafa - each generation has its own legends, and in Carlos you’re watching the birth of one. As an old tennis-head of many a decade I’ve seen the changing of the guard numerous times and they all created their own legend. Were The Big Three the best ever? By the numbers, sure - but that takes nothing away from watching the former greats at the top of their craft. From Laver to Sampras, from Johnny Mac & Borg and Agassi, to Connors & Lendl, they were all magnificent at their peak in their own right.
Yes, the third Rafa/Fed encounter is widely considered the best ever at Wimby - and that’s fine, it was a work of art, unforgettable. But it was also Rafa’s *third* try vs Carlos’s first - both against legendary players on a Wimbledon unbeaten streak. From that historical perspective alone yesterday’s final is already legendary. Add to that the espectacular play & high drama for almost 5 hours and you have a spectacle that will stand the test of time & become a classic.
For now, be grateful for what we had…and enjoy watching a new legend forge his way to the record books. The future is now & his name is Alcaraz.

Will Alcaraz pass the past gen? Maybe who knows...looks like it. But till then let's keep things in context. He has won two majors. Medvedev has that many. Let's see if he wins 20...till then Rafa is Rafa.

Media - Tennis excellence and celebrating youth is great, and/but we also seem to be in an era of increasing ageing rate (people are getting older/less effective or functional (eg, physical and even mental faculties such as clarity/comprehension/synthesis) sooner, on an average, as compared to, say, a few decades earlier) so, it may also be worthwhile to (please) bring a little public focus/attention to the state of health, competency and fitness a young(er) 36years (old?) (arguably a legend in that respect alone?) repeatedly brings to demonstrate - it could be something aspirational to catch the general public imagination, especially younger generation of our society/times and, to emulate in terms of every day habits/discipline or even smaller details that the general public nurturing has taken for granted and lapsed (increasingly over the last few decades).

Great, great victory Charlie! Please stay off of hard courts as much as possible. I know you will play the US Open and Australian Open, but stay off hard courts as much as you can. They will injure your legs like they did Nadal and many other pros. I'm a former tennis pro. I know what I'm talking about. BEWARE! I asked Jimmy Conners ages ago about hard courts. He said they are brutal and inhumane. Many other pros agreed. Some pros can handle them, a few, most can't. I couldn't. I injured both of my knees and my shins on them and ended a very promising tennis career. I was a world-ranked player. Nadal injured his legs so badly on them that he couldn't play as well again. They are brutal, inhumane, and very incorrect and stupid for tennis, causing many unnecessary injuries in an already very physically demanding sport. Anyone who practices and plays on them for many hours can get severely injured! Watch and see. It will happen to you Charlie, if you're not careful. I would hate to see that. I'm very glad Europe has stayed on clay and grass, if they hadn't, tennis would probably have died already. Most people hate cement courts. I vote to ban cement courts forever!

Novak Djokovic is the GOAT. Rarely loses tie breaks and Alcaraz is not beating him if 2 sets down. 2nd set was crucial.
Djokovic also has 96% match winning percentage after winning the first set (best ever in the world. 2nd place is Bjorn Borg). Alcaraz is the future of tennis but he's not winning 20+ grand slam tournaments in his career.
