    I'm 30 and I'll be getting my first harp in August. I have tried other instruments in the past but I have no real musical background. I'm anxious and excited to start once I've saved up for it, and I'll definitely be signing up for your courses!

    I am 69 and am going to learn playing the harp on a hired harp. It is a basic harpsicle but I didn’t think I would be ready to use levers for a while. Wish me luck and I will put some effort into this❤🙏🕊️

    I have a 22 string harp without levers. I have no levers. I learned from a qualified harp teacher 5 years ago. I had learned for two years with her. But after, I did not touch the harp for the next five years. Which course should I take? What do you reccomend? I do not want to start from zero. I need something for small harps without levers.

      @LearningtheHarp  Před 9 měsíci

      All my beginner courses have no lever changes. Most are in the key of C, some require you to tune G sharps up to get that nice interesting sound. But you could go and have a look at learningtheharp.com/shop and see which courses would be right for your level and which you like the sound of. Perhaps look at mid-beginner or late-beginner courses? That way you aren’t starting from the very beginning, but you will get some good input on your harp technique while you learn some lovely new songs 😊👍🏻 Your first course is free if you sign up for a free trial ❤️

      There are a lot of courses you can do without levers. I also have a small 22 string that originally had no levers. I did manage to put on C & f levers on the lower notes. They don't fit well at the top highest few notes. Fireside harp is what I got. It is a double strung so I have more adaptability with that than a single strung. But I know all of the courses I've don't so far with Christy-Lyn have had no lever changes. And the others I have also don't have them as I look carefully to see if they have them and do not choose those (until I finish building my ballad harp as it will have a full set eventually). But I have done After The Rain, Danny Boy, Mahogany Moon and Behind the Flames. I've also completed Scarborough Fair, May it Be and Silent Night and have done most of Fields of Gold and part of Moon River and most of Caledonia. These are all at beginner or Late Beginner. You may need to retune strings here and there. I have an additional 14-15 courses I haven't yet begun that don't have lever changes in the Late beginner to mid intermediate level- and I'm picky about the songs I like! So there are loads of things you can learn! I do recommend going through ALL of her courses, making a list of those that speak to your heart, what level they are. Then go to the song difficulty list and go in the order of difficulty choosing 2-3 at least at each level which should cover a lot of the learning you need to progress. I did not do that when I went for Fields of Gold (towards the end of the difficulty rating list for late beginner songs) and while I did learn it- It was difficult since I had not built up to it. I will find it far easier to relearn when I go back to it (I took 6 months away from my harp recently). I am currrently going to go back to finish/relearn Caledonia and then Moon river. I'm in the Late beginner levels. I love and am perfectly happy at that level- but there are some intermediates I would like to learn when I get to that level!

    What’s your professional opinion on learning on a Paraguayan Harp?

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  Před 5 měsíci

      It’s a completely different style of harp that is usually played with a different technique. The strings have much lower tension and narrower spacing so it doesn’t set you up to learn the technique that we teach. But it’s a legitimate type of harp that has its own amazing style of playing 😊👍🏻

    • @LearningtheHarp
      @LearningtheHarp  Před 10 měsíci

      You tune it the same way as a regular harp, you just need to know which note to tune to each string 😊👍🏻

      @@LearningtheHarp My first time having a harp and it is a 38 cross strung harp it came with tuning wrench big and small wrench. I'm confuse on how to tune it , I have a mix emotion/feelings of doing it. I have never played harp. I just turned 45 4 days ago, I thought to myself I could learn to play other music instruments. Your video tutorial would really help 🙏🤝👍
