- Dinner in the main dining rooms is a grand affair on Sky Princess, with a slew of choices for soup/salad, pastas, appetisers, main entrees, sides and desserts. Join me as I try all the restaurants onboard Princess Cruises.
I try my favourite desserts in Crown Grill and I find a new favourite and one that you should definitely avoid!
I try breakfast in the Oceanview cafe and afternoon tea in the Estrella dining room.

On the ship to USA, Canada and back in September, 25 nights, so we will have a chance to try all the dishes a time or two. I said to a good friend I am a lot of space to be a waste. When I used to play sport I was much younger and attackers got tired running around me. The advice on the food very good..

Fantastic review. I truly appreciate your honesty. Spent 35 days on the island Princess sailing from Ft Lauderdale May 26. The dining room food was fabulous, the buffett, not really my thing. I sail on the Discovery Princess in Sept - hoping the food is what you experienced on the Sky!
I’m also not a fan of the buffet. Usually only go for breakfast on days in port. Have a lovely time on Discovery Princess. I’m sure you will.

Thank you David! I had been canceled two cruises for British Isles in 2022, I hope in 2023 April that one should be okay for me for cruising to UK.
Excellent review David. We were on Sky earlier this year when we did back to back Mediterranean and Norwegian fjords cruises. We found the food to be very variable at best. We were on Enchanted later and we’re very impressed that the waiters in the main dining rooms dressed up for formal nights which they didn’t on Sky so there appears to be inconsistencies across the ships. I have to say that the staff were all fantastic even though there didn’t seem to be enough of them for the number of passengers on board. We’re off to the Caribbean on Regal in February and Alaska on Crown in May so it couldn’t have been too bad! 😄

Alot of people rave about Alfredos but we were not impressed by it food and service wise.
Beef satay was as you said really good so that's 2 recommendations.

Hi, would you recommend booking Princess Premiere fare rather than Plus to get the 2 night speciality dining... or can you still book speciality nights with the Plus fare but just pay extra? And if so do you know how much? Thanks.
Hi Sara, I’m not sure I would recommend the Premiere fare, it’s not something I would purchase myself. I always book the speciality restaurants separately. The Crown Grille is $29 and you should do that at least once, it’s really good. I can’t recall the exact price of Sabatini’s, but think it’s about $25.
I would choose the Plus package again in the future, if I could get a good deal, but feel the Premiere is not worth the extra money.

Hello! There is an up charge for the lobster and steak together. Think is was $10 extra.
Hi thank you for all your reviews very helpful, were going on our first cruise on the enchanted Princess on the 26th with our 4 kids between 15 -8 what dinning room would you recommend please as my 8year old has mild autism don't want to disturb other dinner.

I would give the main dining room a try, I’m sure it will be fine. If you are worried, you could speak to the Manager before hand and ask for their advice/opinion.
Other options for you are the buffet, poolside grill and Alfredo’s Pizza. I expect you’ll mix it up, there’s plenty of places to eat, so you certainly won’t go hungry.
Try not to worry to much about it. Go and have a great time. My first ever cruise was with Princess, I’m sure you will all love it as much as me!

Hi, interesting to watch just been on the Emerald Princess and I am afraid the food was bland, boring with little or no imagination going into the menu and presentation. The main Dining Room is definitely not an occasion it used to be. I was wondering if this is because we were on the older style Princess ship rather than the larger new type ship ? Cheers
Hi Neil. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I don’t actually think it’s due to the older class of ship. I just put it down to the state of the whole industry at the moment. It’s not just Princess, I hear this about other lines/ships too.
I hope you still managed to have a good cruise on Emerald. I actually prefer that older ‘Grand Class’ over the newer Princess ships. I’m kicking myself for not booking the Emerald for this year.

Loved the video food looks amazing, I do have a question and hope you can help me out, my wife and I are going on our first cruise in January on the Caribbean Princess but my wife and I both have mobility issues mine more than my wife but she was a bit worried about queuing up for food could you tell me which of the restaurant’s are waiter service and which are self service thanks
Hi Steven. Thanks for watching and asking a question. I’m sure your first cruise will be fabulous and open up a whole new way of travelling for you both!
I honestly don’t think you need to worry about queuing for food. In my experience I’ve never really queued for long at all.
On Caribbean Princess, you have 3 main restaurants, plus the Crown Grill and Sabatini’s. They are all waiter service. Then you have the Horizon Court buffet, the poolside Grill and poolside Pizza. Those you do have to queue for, but as I’ve said it’s not been an issue really.
There is also the International Cafe in the main atrium offering snacks. You can either queue or there are waiters on hand.
Go and have a wonderful time. Don’t give the queueing a second thought.

Very interesting. Some foods were perfect while others were poor. So recipe quality isn't necessarily ship-wide.

Going in march 23..any thoughts on Murano.. hows the wifi.
Have a great time. Murano restaurant isn’t in this ship. The Wi-Fi depends on where the ship is sailing. As it depends on the connection to satellites. It was ok on our sailing. Not brilliant though.
I heard that Princess is more formal and dressy than Holland America or Celebrity. I love that!
Certainly more dressy than HAL. I find Celebrity quite dressy, especially departing from the UK.

Have you ever noticed the Vegan choices? I enjoy princess, but I find that mostly all vegan for is Indian Cuisine.
On the Princess menus there were always at least two vegetarian options for dinner. I never saw a vegan option. They need to offer a standard vegan option on every menu rather than dealing with the diet as an allergy.
Had two week Mediterranean cruise from Southampton end of July. Food was three star in my opinion, nothing to write home about. Very disappointing. Service from staff excellent.

Hi Christopher, thanks for watching. On this 2 week sailing from the UK, I was very surprised to see so many people in formal dress, it was very noticeable.
Obviously if you don’t want to dress formally, you don’t have to, however, I would have felt very out of place.

As far as me and my wife are concerned, apart from breaking a tooth on a bread roll, vegetarian wise the food was excellent, as a meat eater, as far as my wife is concerned, it’s gone downhill.
I’ll have to try some of the vegetarian dishes in my next review. Thanks again John 👍👍
