  • Review and Unboxing of the casio fx-300ES Plus Scientific Calculator. This calculator is a budget scientific calculator with a limited number of features. If you only need a few calculation features and a compact simple design this calculator will do the trick. But for almost anyone else, (college or HS students) I would suggest stepping up closer to the $20 range to get more features.

    The fraction, root, and exponent templates are fantastic, and the general input system as well. I always love to have WYSIWYG in anything - calculations, document editing, etc. It makes it so much easier to avoid and fix typos. Polar conversion is also very nice to have. The stat stuff is fine, but in my experience, it's a hassle to put into a calculator and never useful (except when a course specifically demands it).
    Lacking a solver or calc stuff is fine, as at that point I would want to be using a graphing calculator anyway.

    Do you think you could do a future review of the fx-991ES PLUS C 2nd edition? I'm just wondering how it would compare to the 300ES. There are no good reviews on the calculator.

    How many terms or digits can you input in one expression? (Ex. Sin(a)+54+(b*c)+.....)

    • @MathClassCalculator
      @MathClassCalculator  Před 3 lety +2

      From what I've found, 98 characters in one expression. One character corresponds to one key press so "sin(" would only count as one character and so would "1". "sin(55)" would correspond to 4 characters each being "sin(", "5", "5" and ")". "1+1" would correspond to 3 characters...you get the point... In any case, it should be more than enough.

  • @ekifi
    @ekifi Před 3 lety +15

    The price is interesting but that's honestly too poor functionality even for a simple scientific. I think these calcutor should become getting considered only near or above the level of functionality offered by the Ti-30X Pro.

    • @ekifi
      @ekifi Před 3 lety +1

      @DeluxeTroyer I know, Casio products are and have always been very interesting feature and price wise. I was only saying this precise model looks pretty unneccessary and uncompetitive to me, honestly too simple for a calculator that targets certain kinds of people with that design and price. It doesn't happen often but in this case i would largely recommend a Texas model, the Ti-30X Pro that i personally own, that with little more money gives you a ton of things more. Maybe not that pseudo-graphical interface but it can resolve polynomial equations atleast.

    • @stacia6678
      @stacia6678 Před 2 lety

      This is their cheapest calculator, only around $10. The fx-115ES and the fx-991EX have way more functionality than this.

  • @CHixon

    bought one in the Walmart Clearance Isle for $3. Don't really need one. But the chip is made in China and China has shut down. That is: nothing is leaving China. I am anticipating that calculators will become expensive until another low-end chip manufacturer is up and running - which may be ten years from now. So it's best to get whatever's available now because that's it. Of course, that's just speculation, but for $3 I can afford to speculate.

    If I come up with a value of 300 (for example) and I want to subtract it from 600, where is the +/- key so I can just turn the 300 to -300 and add it to 600? There must be a way to turn a positive number to a negative number the way millions of calculators have done in the past.
