My iPhone 5s got dropped in water (a sink full) for maybe a couple seconds. The speakers sounded muffled for a while then it was fine. One of my speakers are busted. But it's the small one next to the aux hole. Other then that my phones fine.

I dropped my 6s in a 3 inch creek and instantly pulled it out and powered it off then took the case off. Powered it back on and it worked. I lost my iPhone 5s in the same creek so I was surprised
What?? My iPhone6S got barely even splashed when i accidentally knocked my phone in the wet sink. The screen was covered in thin, pink, blue, green, and yellow lines all across my screen. I left it in rice for a couple of days and it seemed to bounce back.
Day 1 of a broken phone: No source of knowing if it will work or not. You can’t see the lock screen nor move it around.
Day 2 in rice: The lock screen is barely visible but the time is discoverable
Day 3: The touch is back but the stripes of different colored lines are faintly stuck in the middle.
Day 4: Everything bounced back.
*Lesson learned*, don’t wear headphones while washing your hands. You’ll pull your phone in the water. 😂

But after a few days of it just being in the rice I took it out and it was completely fixed: screen working, no lines, everything was ok. Just keep your phone in the rice and pray to Steve Jobs.

Coming from the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge I am truly impressed with the iPhone 6s handling well in this water test. The Galaxy S6 did a lot better by a BIG margin. The things I miss from S6 Edge are the following:
-2K video playback on CZcams(may not be a big deal for many).
-16:9 photo shoots(hate the 4:3 ratio).
-Display colors are not as vivid, and 5.1" feels great in the hand, vs the 5.5" on the iphone.
-Battery life is very bad on the iPhone 6s/Plus.
-No fast charging option.
I truly hope that Apple can make the adjustments on the iPhone 7.

Smacking the phones around while in the water deliberately trying to force the water inside was not really a true fair test. You should have just let them be and sit in the water until they naturally succumb. So they would have faired way longer than 30 minutes. Anyway. It too shabby regardless considering they are not even advertised as being water resistant let alone water proof.
+Ben7seven7 I have to disagree. I think this test resembles more what he mentioned at the beginning of the video. Jumping in the pool with your phone makes it move and get squeezed. Unless we're talking about people who just sit in the pool and don't move... That test is exactly what I wanted to see, putting the phone underwater and just let it sit there isn't that "life proof", it just shows how well the phone holds on to air pockets inside xD I do agree however that these phones are not at all advertised as water resistant or water proof, and they are doing amazingly well considering.

We can agree to disagree then. Rapidly tapping the phones as he did does not simulate the forces upon the phone by simply submerging the device or having it fall into a pool. The rapid shocks are very different and forced the water through the seals.

People really need to learn what corrosion is. It doesn't matter how much water you get out of the phone, corrosion of the solder points on the board is what causes your phone to inevitably malfunction. Using rice and a hair dryer might help in the short term, but eventually the solder and chips will corrode and it is near impossible to stop it from happening once they have had contact with water.

when you "revive" the phone, use a hair dryer on hottest setting to superheat the phone and get all the water out. worked for me

2:10 how should Force Touch work if it depends on the Touchscreen aswell? It has to recognize where you press before knowing which menu to activate... the sensors will work underwater but it does not work because the iphone does not know where you press...
It doesn't depend on the "touch screen". It's actually called a digitizer and that is a heat censer that can tell where your finger is on the screen. The 3d touch is activated by a hard touch so it doesn't require a warm finger to activate

the touch screen is based on capacitive measuring, not heat...
"capacitive sensors" which not work in water. 3d touch just works with force, yeah, but to activate any function it needs to know where you pressed, and that is done by the capacitive sensor. So technically, the force measurement will work in water
+Philip Zimmermann 3D Touch should be able to tell roughly where you're pressing down. It just isn't used on its own, but always as some extra information added to capacitive touches. The information may or may not be good enough to be used independently. Perhaps it could theoretically make gloves more useful. However, for the most part it isn't a pressing issue.

As long as you don't leave it in there for long you should be ok. And about the rice, the rice absorbs the water. If you have an older phone this is what you would do but with these phones I guess they are made much better!!! Oh and also I didn't have an otter box case. I have one of those cute little slide on cases that don't really protect the phone.
If you're phone does ever fall into water put it into a rice bowl over night
