I bought the chair few days ago and after adjusting several times it's really nice!
It's definitely reducing my back pain that was caused from cheap gaming chair...
Hi, thank you for the review .. this is useful.. and i love that color... may i know what color and fabric is that?
I have the gaming edition. Though it doesn't have dedicated lumbar support the back can definitely be adjusted to provide lower back support. I wouldn't completely rule it out if you are looking for lower back support.
I've sat on cheap ~100$ chairs but they always tend to break in some way. Herman Miller's seem quite pricey upfront but the 12 year warranty is a nice piece of mind.
Hi. Quick question, have you noticed any creaking from the seat extender mechanism from your Embody? I've had mine for 4 days and it has been creaking on the right side of the seat.
It might have great backrest flexibility. Which is just as well as the bizarre shoulder crushing backrest will mean you need to stretch regularly when sitting in it!
Only thing what I don't like on my HM Embody is no head rest but I like everything else.
You can get one now. Sold by Atlas
Hi Btod! Late comment, but recently got a regular Embody after watching your reviews and wanted to ask if there was a transition period for you in terms of getting used to the chair? I upgraded from a Sayl! I ask because I notice my hamstrings feeling pressure when sitting on the Embody and not sure if its a seat height/depth issue or a “Im not used to sitting in the Embody” issue yet. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
I came from a SecretLab chair and I agree that there is a transition period. For me, it took about a week to really fix my sitting posture and since then, I havent had any issues or discomfort. Take the time to really tune it to what you like and adjust it as the days go, eventually, you will get to a point where its just peak comfort for you too.
How does this compare to the Haworth fern
Would u compare with gaming version in the future? As there are some differences about the extra form layer which affect the seating and back resting experience
Yes, we can certainly add that to our list of future content. Thanks for the suggestion! -RB
@Dharma Twee Why better the regular one?
@@btodtv Yes, please do a review of the gaming version. There are a few videos comparing the two chairs but no review can come close to BTOD's reviews. I'm sure many other people are also looking forward to that video. It would be great if you could bring it forward on your list. Thanks in advance. :)
Another indirect pro is that they lose value very slowly. I have seen used Embody's for 1000 dollars or close. So of by year 6 you want another type of chair or buy higher end of the embody line, you can just sell the old and use that money to biuy a new.
Whoever buys a used chair for a $1000 is prolly under a spell no matter what brand it is.. period.. there're alot of options out there that are very comfortable at a low price point of even $200 and with some addons, you can even achieve more comfort than the oem HE chairs ( mem form, mesh back support etc ... )
@@joshmcdzz6925 $1000 6 year old chair... 🤣 i probably saved enough by then to buy brand new.
Lol
😂
Ur braindead if buying used 6 year chair for thousand bucks
this guy is good
One negative is that this chair doors not have a head rest in case that matters to you.
It can be worth it, but with most Herman Miller products some of adjustments they scrap from their chairs really damages the scope of users who would of kept them more then they think.
Missed a subjective con: no headrest option. But that's obviously a Herman Miller-wide trait and the company itself argues against the ergonomics. I maintain that while some headrests can make chairs uncomfortable while not reclined, anyone reclining a lot (and you should recline often to diminish muscle and joint fatigue, even when not in a home setting) is going to miss a headrest.
I would also like to add some people online have reported big electrostatic buildup with the Logi version of the Embody. Jayz2Cents is one such example and he made a pretty clear video about it
@@cldpt I've seen that and after a few month of sitting in it, I can tell you, that I have never ever experienced any discharge like him.
Please review the gaming version! I'm in the market to buy!
It’s the same… from what I’ve seen there was extra padding in the seat pan but now all come with that extra padding.
Just get the one you can find for cheaper
There's extra padding, which doesn't extend near the back of your knees. Some people mind it, I don't. The fabric and padding tends to squeak which is a turnoff for many but it doesn't bother me, it really only makes the noise when you lean back or shift a lot. I wear headphones all day so I really don't notice. I love it. It's a beautiful chair imo.
@@nat2r hey! I ended up buying the chair and it's the best chair in the world from the initial moment I sat in it, without tinkering with any settings even! The padding is more than enough to go behind my knee and I like the seat extender feature, always using it! There are really minimal sounds from adjusting in the seat, that was a super overblown consistent comment I saw when researching this chair on and off for 3+ months lol.. in a heart beat would buy another chair if I had a use case, no brainer if u can afford it, or sacrifice a few things to afford it, I would recommend for sure
Thanks for the reply, glad u brought my comment back so I could follow up as I had forgot about this
@@N0it nice! Yeah I love mine. Totally worth it. It really got me into ergonomics as an interest because it's so much better than my last chair. 👍🏻
I was considering this chair, or the Steelcase Gesture. I was actually trying them both out at the same time. I'm 6-0 230lbs. The salesperson felt that "maybe" the Gesture was a better fit overall. He felt because the Gesture top of the backrest fell in a better area/position, the Gesture was "maybe" a better fit. The Embody fell a bit lower or more narrow inside the back of my shoulders. I wonder how taller people felt about the Embody compared to the Gesture?
The seat extension on the embody looks so good though you don’t need to pull the seat forward so it doesn’t cause that gap you find in a lot of other chairs when you fully pull in out
can i know what is the chair you end up getting i am on the same boat
@@refra1nn I bought the Steelcase Gesture. It's working fine. I expect it to last a long time. IT BETTER LAST A LONG TIME. I'm not sure I made the right decision. I'm not sure I didn't! Unless you I can spend 6 months in each, I don' t know how I'd know which is better. If I had to recommend. I'd recommend the one you get the best deal on. That's pretty much what I did. I'm good, I just can't say for sure either way. lol Sorry!
@@salut9658 I ended up with the Gesture without the headrest. So I don't know how much better it would be with the headrest. I'd like to try it, now that you mention it.
Buy this chair!!

I’ve owned the Embody chair for 10 years and it’s still in great shape. I utilized the warranty once to replace the arm rests which broke and haven’t had any other problems with it. It’s a great chair but I agree with this review that there are a couple of cons to it.
@@themoonishollowfr I do sit cross-legged often, at least 50% or more of the time I'm at my desk, and it works really well for that.
@@themoonishollowfr Since it has such a giant seat-bed AND Arms that fold away far enough or could even be removed: The Embody should be a great chair to sit cross legged on from time to time...
@@salut9658 I'm not sure because I've never had one.
Facebook's marketplace is flooded with them. Very cheap
I got one used for $40 USD. In good condition
Doubt
@@leeroymlg4692 I got it from a company. They were moving out and had over 20 aerons but one 1 embody. The listing on the second hand market was named Herman miller aeron. But I spotted the embody in the background of the photo and asked for it. The lady didn’t know what it was and gave it to me for $40
@@tuberthetuber1134 nice, basically got it for free
I've owned and used this chair for 5 years and honestly wish I never purchased it. If you're buying this chair, it's because price is not an issue and you want something that will last forever. This chair is extremely uncomfortable after sitting it in for any period longer than 7 hours or so, hurts your lower back due to no lumbar, causes nerve issues long-term due to no means to get the arms fully down, and causes me neck pain due to a lack of headrest. The main selling point of this chair is the lack of headrest, citing it enforces good posture; the problem is the tilting backrest moves in a single piece, so as you roll it to a high enough setting to keep your back straight, it's also pretty deeply just below your upper traps, which causes shoulder and neck strain over time. I might be an outlier case though in that I have muscular traps which prevent me from sitting in proper posture with curved back design; the backrest basically rolls my shoulders forward automatically.
These 'ergonomic office chairs' are exactly that, for working, not for extended home use, relaxing, or gaming.
what do you suggest?
Maybe deadlift less and see if having smaller traps help 😂 lmao jk.
Please try this chair in person before you buy it. It creaks, feels cheap, and has a fraction of the adjustability as the Aeron. The Aeron, although a very different type of chair, is a much better purchase.
I think the Embody feels like one of the most well made chairs that we have had in our office. I have used it extensively and never had a problem with is creaking or being loud. The Embody and Aeron have different adjustments but I wouldn't say one is more adjustable than the other. The Embody has seat depth, arm width, independent back angle and an extra tilt limiter position, which the Aeron does not have. The Aeron has forward seat tilt, arm swivel and depth adjustment and then lumbar adjustments, which the Embody does not have. So, it just really depends which adjustments you value more when comparing these models. I think they are both great options and Herman Miller's return policy allows you to try them risk free for 30 days, which is a huge bonus. -RB
That's just the Logitech one, I have mine Embody with Rhythm fabric (cheapest of all) and it never makes a sound.
@@chilenozo may I ask how the rhythm fabric is ? I’m not sure which to choose between Rhythm, Sync and Medley.
@@azn_kozo first of all, you can ask, for free, for fabric samples. Quickest way is through local partner, and not so quick is through HM website. I liked Medley and was the right price. But just as I was ready to order, before Christmas, they warned me about waiting times to assembly and shipping (was given at least 2 months including covid and christmas), but my local vendor was just getting 2 new chairs for demo-ing and they offered either to me on the spot, they were both black rhythm and at a cheaper price, dunno cause they were for demo (but new) or cause of the cheaper fabric. So far I am supper happy, fabric still looks good (but I treat most of my stuff extremely nicely and dont have pets nor kids lol) and easy to clean and feels very comfy. Happy customer so far.
this chair is so noisy, every part of this chair can make uncomfortable noise when you sit in this chair.I think this is the most important tips you need to know for anyone who want to buy this chair.
Do you have the gaming version? I have the regular non-gaming version, and it is silent. Bought brand new as of November 2021.
@@aing2009 what made you chose the non-gaming version?
@@aing2009 My embody was made in dec 2021. I received it 1 week ago, the backrest is silence but the seat on the front squeak/creak when I lift up my foot. Makes your Embody the same noises?
and the times stamps say aeron lmfao.
?
no headrest? no thanks.
Will come out in the coming months and it looks amazing!
