The Brazilian Independence Day history started in 1803 with the beginning of Napoleonic Wars in Europe. On November 29th of 1807 the Portuguese Royal Family, to escape from the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, decided to left Portugal to the most developed colony that they had, Brazil
The arrival of the Royal Family in Rio de Janeiro, the capital of Brazil by that time, brought cultural, economic and political changes to the colony. A great development took place creating universities, theaters and libraries that years later, help with Brazil independence
On September 7th of 1822 (Independence Day in Brazil) , Brazil cut the ties with Portugal announcing the independence of Brazil. The Prince Regent of Brazil Pedro de Alcântara becomes Dom Pedro I, the first Emperor of Brazil.
