    Brings back memories. My Dad, Mom, and brothers went on the harvest back in 1973 to 1978. We had a MF 760 and a 510 to start. The 510 got traded in for a 750. I drove both the 510 and 750. Great experience for a teenager!

    Hey my American neighbours! Nice video. I'm from west-central Saskatchewan and a fair amount of our neighbours ran 700 and 800 series when I was a little kid in the 80's and 90's. Massey tractor were commmon now. I can now think of only two guys with old Massey tractors and old Massey combines. They're related, and both farm 400 acres or less. Everyone else here is green, yellow, or the other kind of red. Don't even know anyone with new Massey anything.

    in 1979-1985 we had a couple of 750's. One was a 1976 and the other a 78. I found that they'd do okay if you didn't crowd them. If you pushed them too hard, they'd break something. MF is pretty much gone from sw Kansas. It's very rare to see a machine and the dealers are long since out of business or selling something else, so finding parts would be a nightmare. Still, this brings back a lot of memories. Nice vid.

    The 750's were a great machine... With the odd weakness... one being the shaker shoe shaft on the 750's would break at the bearing where the crank attached on, and it was a bugger to get out to replace with a new one... First you have to clean out the combine(you get a half ton truck load of $H#T and chaff, then all sieves have to come out etc... by the time you're through, the air is blue with words I'd rather not say on here....lol

  • @TheFarmerfitz
    @TheFarmerfitz Před 13 lety +6

    @AJ67901 Here in Southen Alberta Canada, parts are still quite available, but also quite expensive...I still run Masseys... An 860 massey is a pretty good sized machine and here I can gettem for about $15000.00 to $20000.00 and have a good machine that'll work.... Hell of a lot better than 2 or $300000.00 to do the same job!!!

For Class havester of that time (Dominator) with mercedes engine and inline injection pump it would cost at least 3000 Euro. Also Perkins engines were very reliable and easy to maintane.

      @SilverGleaner Před 2 lety

      @@joescheller6680 I'm speaking to your direct statement that the 860 was the largest machine on the market. It was not even close. The L2 weak spot for capacity is the feeder beater but I virtually eliminated plugging when I installed 8 springs in the slip clutch instead of the normal 4. There are 8 holes for 8 springs..... but the L2 is a class under in size from the 760 or 860 so it's like comparing apples to oranges or a 150 hp tractor to a 175 hp tractor. Like I said though, I never had any electrical issues unless a mouse chewed a wire and my L2 is now 40 years old. Not bad for a 40 year old combine in my book.

    the john deere is a late 4630, it has air cleaner in back of muffler,the earlier models had them in front but early 4630 tractors had heating problems,so deere put a larger radiator in the later 4630,they no longer had room up front for air cleaner so deere put air cleaner behind the muffler.the grain cart was made by united farm tools for deere,they were not a very good machine,the best thing to do with them is get rid of the auggers and use it like a wagon with a center dump.either that just sell them for scrap.
