To Army: when you come down hard on reactors for innocently saying something they heard from a fan that is toxic behavior that makes people not want to react to BTS. Please look to see if someone already corrected the misunderstanding and if they have, then like that comment. It is inappropriate to attack these respectful and intelligent reactors for one tiny comment. For those who think they should research every single comment for validation before saying anything, that isn't practical. It makes sense for them to trust Army and if a fan got it wrong, then just politely offer a correction. Army has a reputation for being toxic and attacking, so many people don't even dare react to BTS. If you believe in the BTS message, it is more than just loving yourself. You should also love others and treat people with respect. This is not a way to stick up for jimin as he would never treat someone the way some of you have. Please think before you type. I am sure that you are all amazing people and are just very passionate, which is lovely and admirable. Just try to be a little more thoughtful and understanding next time.

@roughboyz6453 I just discovered BTS a year ago and have been impressed with everything, but the messaging and lyrics have been one of the primary draws for me. That is why it feels a bit bizarre to me that when BTS has so many songs that talk about negative keyboard warriors who spread anger (ugh comes to mind first), and they have often talked about how it has been so difficult dealing with that in their own lives, that some fans engage in that kind of behavior. However, I do understand that it stems from a deep love for the boys and their protective instincts because BTS have received so much hate so they are extra sensitive, but as a whole I think we can do better at helping one another communicate that passion in a more positive way. I really enjoy your intelligent reactions. Thanks for all you do.

BTS have gone above and beyond with exhibiting patience with haters (even though it has been heavy and intense for them), and frankly, they have been extremely patient with toxic fans as well. As a fandom, we can help one another to encourage more positive communication for sure. There are so many amazing things about the Army, and as a fandom, they have accomplished so much. As many people have said, it is more of a movement for positivity and change in the world, and I am proud to be Army. With a fandom that is capable of organizing so many charity projects and taking action to promote good causes and people or to shut down injustices, I know we can easily help one another be more kind as well.

I was just watching someone react to the rise of bangtan episode 3 and they showed the clip of the lame rapper telling RM and Suga that they were basically girls and that being an idol was not compatible with hip hop. RM politely said, "If that's how you feel about it, then you can feel that way," This shows his high emotional intelligence. Of course they expressed their anger about injustices like this in their songs like Joke and Agust D. ❤
Not sure who is saying that he had a substance abuse problem. He is not and never has been an alcoholic. He did go through depression during Covid and did drink a bit more than normal but not abusively. His Face album is all about what he went through during Covid. It was tough on most performers as they could not do what they are meant and best at. As to the song title, Set me free is a song by band mate Suga. It’s not related (although there are some similarities in the message) but as it has that title Jimin named his pt 2 to not confuse them.Edit: the words on his body are a temporary tattoo of a German poem who’s message relates to the message of the song. It’s be Rainer Maria Rilke, Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringe.

The words on Jimin’s body are a German poem called "Ich lebe mein Leben in wachsenden Ringen” (I live my life in ever-widening circles) by Rainer Maria Rilke. Translated the poem reads:
“I live my life in ever-widening circles that stretch themselves out over all the things. I won’t, perhaps, complete the last one, but I intend on trying. I circle around God, around the ancient tower, and I circle for thousands of years; and I don’t know, yet: am I a falcon, a storm, or a mighty song.”
He did an interview and said he drank alot during Covid. He never, no one ever said alcoholism, no one who would know anyway. When Suga interviewed him on Suchwita he gave all the reasons with his own words. There would be nothing wrong if that was the case and he got through it, we would be supportive and proud but we just believe what he says himself, and the other members. The album is meant to be listened to chronologically as a record of his pandemic experience. I love this.
Jimin has said that he was drinking more during the pandemic, but he just thought he was having fun. He realized after a while what it was (sounded like a coping mechanism for the tremendous disappointment of their canceled tour and the delay of the group plans to rest, work on solo projects, learn about themselves, as they were marking time due to the pandemic), so he got himself together. He said he was surprised no one in BTS said anything to him, but SUGA told him (this was on his episode of SUCHWITA) that when people are going through that kind of thing they don’t want to hear criticism. I think the members also knew it wasn’t an abuse problem, and they gave him space to figure it out and just continued to love and support him.

Jimin has never had a substance abuse problem and comes from South Korea where they have an emphasis on a drinking culture. It is part of their socialization and many people have commented on all of South Korea and it’s drinking. As others have said, this was his response to Covid the Rilke poem on his body are another layer of understanding his artistry in his lyrics and his motivation for the song❤️ I agree with those who say BTS and each individual member in there songwriting go far deeper than the obvious in their lyrics💜 it is for this reason they are considered as significant as the Beatles💜 The spectacular choreography is performed by a dance company who has worked with BTS before, and who was hand chosen by Jimin for thisMV💜 as with any fine arts you’re only limited by your imagination and life experiences to what the peace might mean to you💜
Not sure who told you he had a substance abuse problem. He’s not an alcoholic. It talks about his loneliness and the way he felt during pandemic when they could no longer perform and feel close to ARMY. He addresses the issue in his interview with Suga in Suchwita episode 7.
Jimin has a very healthy outlook and he takes care of himself very well. He couldn’t do half the things he does on stage and in videos if he had a substance abuse problem.

I know there’s things they can’t tell us however everyone should be careful of the negative connotations/perception of saying someone has a “substance abuse problem”. That’s all. Even with how transparent they have been about their process and their lives, it’s not fair or responsible to say this. It’s not like he was wrecking himself or out of control.

Please be aware that antis are hiding in this fandom and trying to brainwash and manipulate others. People in South Korea are more generous and open about drinking. The set for the song is based on the ultimate prison the panopticon where the tower with the guards is in the middle and the prison cells are around the circle. Since the video is about breaking free from his mind and depression he represents the guards in the center as well as the prisoner. The German poem tattooed (not real) is called my life in widening circles and has a similar theme to the lyrics. Bts always use a lot of symbolism.
The choreography also alludes to the hate he gets online from antis with the pointing fingers. The first time they are on the same level as him while he is bent over and he rises up and then the second time the pointing fingers are from those from an even higher level.
Then there is the wink to the Lie performance with them raising him up and the meaning of that song and linking into the overall theme of Face. I love the layers they put in for us to discover and digest.

Thanks for the reaction guys. Here’s some back info… Korean idols cannot have major issues like alcoholism or drugs. In fact drugs are so taboo in Korea that even marijuana is still illegal and idols are struck off if they’re found dabbling. A famous actor from Parasite just unalived himself after being involved in a drug scandal, despite having negative drug tests, that’s how much the culture frowns on it. So imagine when these guys say they struggled with something it’s much less intense than when westerners say the same, because of the social environment. Drinking is a common part of Korean culture but it’s usually social, with friends and based around beer or soju, not very strong drinks.
To me the shocking thing about this is Jimin’s usually soft and sweet image he was playing with; the bare chest, the martial choreography, the the swearing is all to show us this side of mature angry strong Jimin. Love it. This was my fav chapter 2 or solo BTS album, because of this surprise. He’s an amazing artist. 💜

The album is about his feelings during covid. Dont know who told you it was about substance abuse, but they were wrong. You should look at more trust worth sources.

This was while also attending middle school, where he loved sports, being quite athletic, joined the football team, excellent at track, great at basketball, & billiards! Jimin also, all throughout his schooling, was known as a top scholar, achieving perfect scores, especially in math & science which just always came easy to him! Jimin was even class president for 9 yrs in a row! Jimin, all throughout his schooling, was also quite good in art class, as well as calligraphy.
Jimin, then also took up contemporary dance. The media, after seeing a performance of Jimin's performing at a huge Busan Festival Event, called Jimin "The rising star of Busan"!! JIMIN also studied ballet & traditional Korean dance while attending Busan High School of the Arts. Jimin still went to Just Dance Academy to take hip hop classes whenever he could because his first love has always been hip hop, even though he was now majoring in contemporary! JIMIN even had an offer to dance overseas, but declined because he also wanted to become a singer since the 2nd grade, to the dismay of one of his dance instructors who said "The world of dance was going to lose a great artist"!!
So Jimin then went and auditioned for BigHit Entertainment, (company BTS is signed with), being the very last member to join, being a trainee for only a few months (which is unheard of for most Kpop idols), as opposed to the 2-3 yrs of being a trainee the other members had! Like others said, Jimin never had a substance abuse problem, he just try to escape from reality during the pandemic , drinking more than he usually do. Set me free is about breaking free from himself, from his past struggles and the way people and opponents want to stuck him in a box. Jimin had a long and difficult journey for loving himself, playing with his différents "faces" /images/filters. He recently said : "« "Set Me Free Pt.2 was created when I was feeling lost and depressed. I was determined to overcome those feelings and had lots of those thoughts. And to answer one of your final questions, BTS have more than 400 songs, and most of them are very deep, (I set aside their 3 english songs, very poppy , made for cheering up Army during the pandemic) . Their discography is like the painting of their growth, dreams, doubts, fears, success and failures. Very personnal, but using also thinkers, poetry, psychiatrist concept, they transcend their personal story in deep universal messages for all of us. That"s why Army is so massive, no matter your age, race, gender identity, skin color, or nationality, some or their songs will hit you right in your heart or soul. They also have a a lot of social/economical/political songs.

Not an alcoholic. Koreans all enjoy their alcohol without the stigmas we endure in the states. He has no issues with abuse. His only overindulgence I see is his workaholic attitude and the commitment to perfection.
I think he wants to be himself. I love everything about Jimin and whether it’s a sexual orientation deal or whatever else he thinks he gets judgement about I find Jimin more than acceptable. Beyond acceptable. He’s adorable.

BTS songs always delve deeper beyond the obvious. BTS members solo endeavours are a continuation and further exploration of these themes. BTS music has never been just poppy; they camouflage deep and meaningful thought in playful and poppy beats - if you listen to just the song without taking into consideration the lyrics, you would still enjoy the music but the lyrics address issues that people resonate with. Loneliness, societal pressure, the search for self and purpose, the difficulties of living in a uber capitalist world where a persons worth is so often linked to their social standing or financial status. Whoever said that Jimin had some kind of problem related to the use of illicit substances, doesn't know Jimin or South Korea, in South Korea the use of these substances is something very serious, beyond what we imagine, in South Korea , the simple distrust of a public person being related to this, leads to summary cancellation, not only by the brands that sponsor them, but also by the media and the public, moreover, Jimin has always been a supporter of healthy living, dedicated to sports and good nutrition, including encouraging ARMYS to follow this lifestyle. What happened, and what he portrayed in some of his solo songs, was that, during the pandemic, due to isolation and what it did to his psychology, he eventually drank more than he usually would...just that and nothing else. ...The group BTS, has always been and is, encouraging physical and mental health, treating this by diversifying songs and spreading their message around the world, and I don't say that like a crazy Army, I say that because it's the purest truth. ..As for what was written on Jimin's body, the translation is from a poem called “Widening Circles” from the book of poems “Rilke's Book of Hours: Love Poems to God” by writer Rainer Maria Rilke and it says:

Awesome! 👍🙏❤️🔥😍🔥🔥 I was thinking of suggesting just those songs, though you listed even more then I might have but all the best to use as perfect examples to show just how deep, meaningful & inspirational BTS songs are!! Only thing I’d add is that only the channel 1theK which was BigHit official distributer back then when BTS debuted til early 2015 is the only one that has the ever so important eng subs for BTS “No More Dream” MV! The official on from their label sadly didn’t have cc for eng subs til later on.
Bts had all genres and both serious and upbeat. The members, especially the Rap line writes, or takes part in most of the writing so you get a mix of genre. They didn’t write the all English songs which were just poppy, feel good songs. Tks guys!
Jimin is my bias, he was what drew me to check out BTS. I heard Dynamite on the radio, being as English song, I wanted to know who had the angel voice. Jimin is my forever bias but I love all of them. Thank you for all of your reactions
It wasn’t as bad as alcoholism. He just went through a period during Covid where he found himself drinking too much. He got a hold on it pretty quickly after he recognized it.
This is called Set Me Free pt 2, because AgustD also has a song called Set Me Free with a similar theme. The songs are not related, but the idea was close enough that Jimin wanted to differentiate it. Almost like a continuation of Suga’s song.

No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this made me that much more excited, for the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” released on March 24, along with his main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Jimin’s other songs “Face-Off”, “Alone”, as well as hidden track “Letter” are all equally amazing! Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Now the spotlight will be just on him! Though we’ve seen Jimin’s amazingly spectacular, so mesmerizingly outstanding solo performances before. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free. I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white.

This was Jimin’s pre release song. He doesn’t have any part 1 sort of thing. It was Suga who has a song named ‘Set Me Free’ but it has nothing to do with this. Jimjn however kind of started his solo career with this song leaving all of us awestruck cause that’s definitely not the kind of Jimjn we all know. He’s all the angelic high pitched beautiful vocal king type but here this song was a complete dark, rap-sing kinda one where he actually used auto tune so uniquely aand the choreo is top tier. Like Jimin kinda set a whole benchmark releasing this pre release track. This song came out before his debut album was released FACE. This song kind of talks about the kind of backlashes he’s faced and how now he just shows how he freakin got above all of that. I mean the irony.. Jimin literally became the first ever K-POP soloist to top the Hot100 BB chart with Like crazy which was the main track of his album. Always surprised to see how many flock to the comments immediately to reiterate the same things others have already said en mass, and disappointed to see some of the aggression ppl have shown for a simple misunderstanding. It’s definitely taken away from their thoughtful commentary and makes it hard to find comments discussing anything but the mistake. As a longtime fan I do wish people could take a moment to read through comments to see if something they’re only going to repeat has been said before adding to it in a way that’s not really helpful, as I’ve seen done countless times on other channels for even the slightest mistake. Some fans love to exaggerate or make assumptions into everything. He does not have substance abuse or he wouldn't be able to keep up with BTS's hectic schedules. Social drinking is a huge thing in Asia, not just SK. Don't trust everything that some fans tell you unless you hear it from the members. They are usually pretty honest with us

I don’t know that Jimin had a substance abuse problem, but he has said that during the pandemic when we were in lockdown and they couldn’t perform and do concerts, he was drinking a lot at some point because he was so depressed, but when they started doing their concerts again he snapped out of it (he mentioned it when he was on Suga’s talk show ‘Suchwita’).
Leading up to the members entering the military for the mandatory military service in Sth Korea, and the members were working on solo projects and releasing solo albums. ‘Like Crazy’ & ‘Set Me Free Part 2’ are from Jimin’s solo album ‘Face’, which is his first solo album, released in 2023.
For me, I think Set Me Free Part 2, is Jimin talking about always being watched in the public eye, always being criticised or commented on, having to adjust his behaviour or appearance to suit society. As he’s matured he’s become more and more himself (you just have to look at videos of when they first debuted until now), and I think this song is him saying to everyone, I don’t care what you say or think anymore, I’m going to be myself and do what I want.
The room itself represents a panopticon, which is like a circular prison with guards at the centre who can always see all the prisoners around the circumference, such that the prisoners are never free to totally relax or do just whatever they want.

You are right about interpretive dancing. This MV's choreo is about his deep thoughts and the journey and renewal of his life. The song and choreo is based on the Jungian concept of the map into one"s psyche, soul, spiritual angst and personal myth. The Formation of the " 6" Fibunacci Circle represents the primodial circle of life. It depicts the beggining of all life form and the journey into life. The tattoos on Jimin's chest is a German poem, and is his reference to the metaphor presented by the poet Ranier Maria Rilke in his; Book Of Hours; Love Songs To God. It is a poem that speaks about living life in a circle around an axis, circling the primodial tower. To constantly renew and going in a maze of circles of life as changes take place. It is the concept of Individuation, that looks into the path of one's life in trying to achieve wholeness and becoming what one is meant to be. For the MV's set, the blues and greys, with the circular cubic cells connected into a circular central tower, represented the Panopticon Prison, where the subject is constantly under watch and disconnected. At one point the dancers were mocking and pointing at him, thus the "F all your Ops" The song showcased all his vocal tones in the high, mid, lower register and rapping. From entrapment to breakout, this song is an anthem. he wrote the lyrics, composed and had a hand in everything with regards to the production of his solo album. The man is a deep thinker and talented performer. Jimin's voice is diverse and exquisite, you should hear him rock out his growls.

Thank you for your great reactions. It is a misconception that Jimin had a substance abuse (alcohol) problem - he did state, one way he handled not being on tour during Covid was by over-drinking. Clubbing could only have happened at a later period (if at all) in the pandemic, as SK had a major ban on public gatherings longer then most countries. Though private parties could happen without being so closely scrutinized by the public as an Idol. Also keep in mind BTS promoted Dynamite & Butter during this time, to cheer fans and actively composed their 'unplanned' album & mv 'BE', which proved to be quite therapeutic for them. The performances and MVs alone for all these works, kept them quite busy. As a dancer, Jimin would have had to be in excellent shape to maintain that rigorous schedule. Thus admittedly he did drink heavily, it was no where near the understanding of being an alcoholic. Jimin also shared that he counseled more with his father (who he is very close to) during this time. More significantly is how Jimin's personality changed, in some ways matured - he became quieter, and introspective. His entire 'FACE' album is about self-realization, besides the 2 tracks, 'Like Crazy' and 'Set Me Free Pt 2', and ways he used artistry of song and dance to communicate to ARMY both the depth of his struggles and his growing awareness. (btw- Like Crazy has its own choreography (not in MV) if you haven't seen it yet with a very different style). Answering the question, "Is BTS music as deep as the solo works?", the answer is YES - they have always been, in every era. When you delve into BTS, you should include songs from each album series, too often only the brighter, lighter sides are promoted in Western media. BTS foundations are hiphop, and as a team they approach their music by looking inside to learn about themselves, then express that learning outwardly through their art, but often at a level advanced for their young age (they started as teens). There are many ways to approach diving into BTS, but if you want to really learn about their diverse music over the years, and some background to 'why' they made these artistic choices, you cannot get a deep understanding by only watching the mv's for the main tracks, so as you have done so far - ASK ARMY. But I recommend being clear about what you ask. Some ARMY might be able to direct you to their favorite 'song' or 'style' in any era, but not all ARMY will know the context from which that music was created. As Jimin is known to say 'keep going, you nice!'

As some mentioned, Jimin never had addiction issues. I think someone provided wrong information. He did say that he wrote a lot of this album during COVID lockdown; as artists they were seeing all their concerts get canceled; they couldn't perform; and he had a really hard time dealing with that. He said he went out drinking a little too much at first, feeling lost, but eventually he pulled it together. And, BTS found ways to still make new music and entertain fans online. But that's a far cry from being alcoholic. Someone misunderstood something.

It's a song abt each of their own "cities", BTS all come from different places in SK and only met in Seoul when they joined BigHit. RM was born in Seoul (capital), but was raised in Ilsan, Jin was born and raised in Gwacheon, Suga was born and raised in Daegu, J-Hope was born and raised in Gwangju, Jimin and JK were born and raised in Busan, and V was born in Daegu but spent three years in Geochang while growing up. During the entire song they make references to their cities and I REALLY recommend going through the lyrics with "doolset.com" on this one bc they give the best context and explanations behind the lyrics.

If i remember correctly set me free part 2 is named that to set itself apart from suga/ Agustd song set me free. Also this song is about him setting himself free from what others think he should be doing. Setting himself Free to do what he himself wants to do.
Korea has a strong drinking culture. That said, I believe the best evidence Jimin did not and does not have an alcohol/substance abuse problem as we understand it in the West is that Suga created an interview show called “Drinking Time with Suga” where the guest brings their preferred (usually alcoholic) beverage and they share it along some food. The guys are very thoughtful and protective of each other, particularly the older ones like Suga towards the younger ones, which tells me Suga would have never proceeded with that particular show concept if it could have harmed ANY of his brothers in any way. He has said his main motivation behind the show was to provide a safe and comfortable space for his brothers to promote their solo projects as they came along. From what I’ve seen of them Jimin doesn’t even seem to be the heaviest drinker in the group. I think the Suchwita episode where Suga interviews Jimin would be a good one to watch even if it’s off camera. The pandemic hit them all very hard emotionally, and since the group’s start whenever that happens they process those emotions by channeling them into songs in a way that by the time the song is released they have faced and come to terms with the original cause. Therefore, the songs are ultimately reassuring even if/when the lyrics evoke sadness, anger, loneliness, etc. Personally, I have found myself in the situation of realizing I was drinking more frequently than usual in response to a long period of increased pressure, conflict and stress at work. I worried that I had or was in danger of becoming an alcoholic but after consulting with my doctor reassured me that wasn’t the case. I simply switched to other coping strategies and dialed back the drinking to occasional social outings as was normal for me.

While great songs, those are really not “usual” BTS at all. You’ve gotten lots of good recs there for more typical bts work, which is often VERY deep. They write much of their own songs, so there’s often personal stuff in their songs. Excited to see those!

Set me free Pt2 created much buzz among ARMY, most of us were in shock, as it presents an adult Jimin with a very different persona: tough and rebellious. His song is all about living in the limelight and being categorised as “a cute, sexy boy with a lovely voice”, for which he’s been either loved or mocked
Ironically, Set me free Pt2 was also either loved or rejected (“the company made him do it” vacuous talk)
For me, his choice to write, produce, and work on the choreo of this song, was a huge but incredibly pleasant surprise.
Like most, I also expected sweet songs from our lovely Jimin; instead, he heralded with this song his desire to set himself free from the fame-panopticon freezing him into a child-like persona matching his so unique vocals; which, if we think back, it was what was done to M Jackson, affecting so much his career and private life (I bought Thriller in 1983💜).

lol! Is BTS as deep as the solos. Boys, you are in for a ride! BTS lyrics are no joke. They don’t really write many songs about love or romance. Most of their songs are political, contain social commentary, explore deep literary and psychological topics, and all with a healthy dose of introspection. That said, the three English songs are very poppy and not deep at all. Those songs were created to be happy ear candy to raise ARMY’s spirits during the pandemic. Don’t start your BTS group journey with Dynamite, Butter or Permission to Dance. They are fine songs, but they are totally missing a lot of the DNA that makes BTS special. A good place to start is the Map 🗺️ f the Soul 7 album. It is a concept album which explores the Map of the Soul theory from Swiss Psychiatrist and Philosopher, Carl Jung. Even the songs you thing are light, really contain deep meaning. You would also get a good variety of what BTS can do, as the album dabbles in many different musical genres.
It's one of the songs on his solo Album 'Face' that is his journey through covid and how it felt for him then. He said while writing the songs he had some time's found it hard to remember/revisit the differing emotions he had at that time. He is the first Korean solo artist in 60 years to get a number 1 on the USA Billboard hot 100 in fact he debuted at Number 1. So all the Non English songs that have debuted at number 1 on the the USA Billboard 100 are by BTS and BTS solo members which scare's the hell out of the USA music industry because they do it with streams and physical sells with no radio play and not using Payola so the US music industry can't profit off BTS in any way.
BTS as a group has very deep lyrics for the most part, and you can’t go wrong with their discography as a group. They always try to give hope to their listeners in their lyrics, and many people have found comfort and positivity through their lyrics (myself included) Magic Shop is a beautiful song that can illustrate how much they want to be a positive force for ARMY. Think of how meaningful it is to hear your artist sing on days that you want to disappear, to open a door in your heart (or mind the translation isn’t always accurate) and they will be there waiting for you to comfort you. Or how they made a song to their fans We Are Bulletproof: The Eternal, basically dedicated to how much ARMY means to them. yes they have fun poppy songs, but they also delve into many issues that are unusual for K-pop, such as societal expectations, depression, and loneliness. Ugh is great examples of this, where on the surface can seem like a dis track, but really has so much more to it ( this is just the rap line) So What is a great hype song that is so much fun to listen to when you feel overwhelmed and need to just let it all go. So have fun in the rabbit hole, it’s worth it.

Adding to the others that who ever was telling you in the comments that he had a substance abuse problem is not someone to trust in the future. It is a complete misconception from someone who hasn’t looked at all his interviews and comments on the work.
The order you are looking at them has you a little confused. Set Me Free Pt 2 was a pre-release single and it linked his previous song Lie from the Wings album (which is an amazing performance live - check out the stage mixes for the live versions and you shouldn’t get a copyright strike just be very very careful with anything from a Japan performance) and then the Main single for Face released at the same time as the album with Like Crazy.
He only released 2 songs for Face. He did a special live performance for the hidden track on Face, Dear ARMY or Letter.
SMFP2 was an amazing announcement to the kpop industry on what he was going to bring as a solo artist. It completely shocked so many people as he is known for his delicate honey voice but he can also bring this type of strong take no prisoners type of performance too. His Producer PDogg posted the teaser for this with the comment that Jimin was coming to end Kpop and he did indeed!
He has now just released a gift song for us and the members after his enlistment called Closer than this.
Sad a few rumor mongers feel the need to broadcast that Jimin has a drinking problem. They take normal use of alcohol and magnify it into a problem. Suga did a song called Hansool. Does that mean he has a drinking problem? Or does Suchwita based on drinking with dinner and conversation? But Jimin in the isolation of the quarantine taking a few extra drinks gets portrayed as if he is a habitual substance abuser. Sad such a genuinely sweet guy has a target on his back.

Don't worry about it guys. There are a LOT of ARMY and some people get a little excited and don't brother to read if others already corrected a misconception and get rather protective. Taken altogether, it can be overwhelming just because there are so many of us.
Jimin spiraled into an alcohol assisted depression during the pandemic. He has always been a pretty heavy drinker, but I would not say alcoholism. Heavy drinking is pretty normalized in Korean culture. He just had the Big Sads and he was self medicating. He had a really rough time during the pandemic, not being able to perform and being separated from ARMY. He said he didn't want to burden his brothers, though they were all still living together at the time, because he knew they were all struggling too. So he didn't talk to anyone about what he was going through. Afterwards, RM encouraged him to work it out through his music. So his album is indeed his dark pandemic stories. Like Crazy was an escapist fantasy. He says next time he will try to bring brighter music because the stories he had to tell on this album were darker.

Gosh dumb armys at it again, no Jimin dont have any substance abuse, he did spiral during covid cause he had a hard time dealing with the uncertainties of that time, so much was at stake and he felt helpless, he did said he use alcohol as a form of escapism of his own thoughts but nothing he couldn't control ever. Its just out of BTS members he does share that he enjoys alcohol the most, but Yoongi (SUGA), Jin and JK does too... Yoongi and Jimin are known to be drinking buddies 😅 some armys really take things waaaaay out of proportion. Just dont trust any other comment pls some fans are relatively new and mess things up easily, i know its hard to check every single fact but just try to react (cause we do enjoy see those ones as well) to some interviews of them. Just believe what comes out of their mouths 🙏😆💜💜💜

Seriously, I encourage you to watch MV and lyric breakdowns. Most of their music is layered with a surface meaning, a universal deeper meaning, and a deeper personal meaning, plus don't even get me started on the Bangtan Universe (the BU) the supernatural mystery storyline that runs through years of their music and has clues scattered and slowly revealed across multi-media including: MVs, song lyrics, album, notes, books, webtoons, short films, and a mobile app game. In the storyline, the guys are a group of friends/chosen family just like in reality and each member plays a character of the same name as themselves, going through hard life struggles. A drama of the BU is in post production now. They recently revealed there is an upcoming continuation to the BU coming soon in their music.
Their wordplay and storytelling are impossible to fully grasp without translational and cultrual context breakdowns, as subtitles just cannot capture it. You can enjoy it on a surface level of course, but there is so much more there if you dive in. Even their choreography is far from just dope moves, but is performance art storytelling with moves trasmitting their own aspects of the story. Even the musical structure of the songs can tell part of the story, like a major, uplifting chord inserted in a song full of darker minor chords which is a song about hiding your pain and living a lie. The major chord becomes the lie in the song. Or a song about them stll being 7, together with ARMY, full of unusual 7th chords. Etc Songs that sound like straight love songs usually are not, but rather far more. Songs that sound like just bops or jams often hide depths of political messaging or darker themes. They delve into themes like loneliness and alienation, politics, socio-economic and generational conflicts, grief, identity, mental health, cultural and societal ills, the meaning and various expressions of love, and more, and they draw from psychological theory, philosophy, religious myth and allegory, history, poetry and literature, current events, visual arts, etc.
BTS is a thinking person's band. They go deeeeeeeeep. The "rabbit hole" is not just about the sheer amount of their work, but also the depth of layers and complexity.
All their albums are concept albums, and some of them run in series of albums based on themes relevant to the stages of their lives at the time and to universal experiences, such as love, school struggles, identity issues and mental health. Set Me Free pt 2 was named pt 2 because Suga did a song called Set Me Free. Like Crazy is another great song.
The chest tattoo is from a German poem, not sure the author. Very gothic style calligraphy.
A completely different song from the Face album is Letter, my favourite, very intimate just Jimin talking to the fans.
None of the boys ever had a substance abuse problem, but Jimin was aware he was drinking more than usual because he was depressed at the cancellation of their world tour. He always has worked so hard to be excellent in his performances, so perhaps he found himself at a loss what to do.
Thanks for checking out JM, he's the best, crazy talented not only w singing but dancing. You should check out Serendipity, Filter & Black Swan or On.Def didn't have a substance abuse issue. He did drink but it wasn't like that. Korea has a big drinking culture so that causes pll to misunderstand. Anywho it was mostly about critics & haters making his life rough. He has always gotten a lot of shit from haters. That's why he says "fuck all your ops."
