Instead of braid I’ll do a loose mid highball if I’m trying to maintain a curl or wave pattern or if it’s already stretched out I’ll do a wet or damp tight twist, to the point where it folds back in on itself and secure it tightly. Hours later after work and I take it down it gives my hair a good body wave that looks good for going out or whatever. I call it Thor inspired.

Or take it a step further and bring mini pony or braid upand thread through above where the braid starts and loop through, looks like more effort has gone in to it but just one more step. Or a man bun in that same place as the braid. Or I pull same hair back, and with just a 2 inch fold to the hair put the hair tie on. This is the easiest and fastest. I have premature silver hair growing just on the crown of my head but not the very front so this Thor style gives me cool stripes and I like it a lot

Add a rope braid coming from underneath either side of the braid and you can make it look like one badass viking/elven/dwarven hairstyle :) Plus do you get any problems with dropping hairs in the braid coz i can never get a braid that doesn't look messy.
I'm a girl and I often where my hair like this in combination with s few other braids (This is usually the base part of it) but instead of an english braid I use a fishtail. Also sorry but I have long ass hair so its kinda amusing to watch someone with much shorter hair have there arms get tired after such a short braid since when I do it it takes like half an hours for braiding (Plus the other braids, the most I've ever had at once is 5 and that took about 20-30m)
