On and off, we have been traveling for over 20 years and have explored more than 160 of the world's 193 countries, it’s been quite a journey!
We are the Newbys, John, Tara, and our two little boys Crusoe and Sawyer. We’re a family who are pursuing an alternative lifestyle, and after two years of full time travel we’ve taken root on an abandoned farm in Northern Portugal which we’re renovating into our dream off-grid homestead. We release new videos every Sunday sharing our story, and we’d love for you to be a part of it with us. Travelling with loved once always will be good memories😊 I had a trip by pedal with my husband and still remembering it. Maybe your baby will not remember, because he still small, but you will. It is so beautiful feelings for all the life❤

Such a great idea to inspire others to travel with a baby or toddler! My 3 are in the early and mid 20’s now but they were always great little travellers. My first two (2 little boys) I took on many flights during our 3 years living abroad and I can definitely vouch for feeding at take off and landing. Never a cry when settled in my arms and protecting their ears this way. And I so agree with everything else you talk about …. Happy and continued safe travels 🥰

I watch this video over and over! I learned so much!. When I talk about traveling with my future baby people scoff and laugh at me and they make it sound impossible. They tell me " oh you won't do that".. This video gives me so and for much information and helps me feel more confident to travel with my little one! I can't imagine a life where I don't travel.. Hi John and Cara, I’ve been binche-watching your episodes for a about 2 weeks now. Love them! We’ve been traveling with our kinds as Babies too. They are 21 and 18 now and for the first time They won’t come along to our next journey next July. Our first time to Namibia and Botswana. Lars was 9 months when we first flew to Cape Town and surroundings and avoided the malaria area’s. We went back to SA several times, loved the safari’s. Going to Enjoy Some more Africa traveling now! Crusoe seems to be such a happy baby! Travelling as you are means that he's got two people always ready to share the childminding rather than just one as the other goes out to work. Three out of four of my kids got travel sick so it wasn't something i enjoyed when they were little!. The point about being adaptable is very valid too as he seems to be in a stable routine now but that will change! Looking forward to Sunday, travel safe!

Greek philosopher Aristotle said "Give me the child until he is 7 and I will give you the man" as a mum of 3 men now I know this to be true. The messages we gave them (even subliminally) the rules we set when under 7 seem to be deeply imprinted in their personalities, they take in SO much as babies, they may not remember it in a literal sense but what you are doing is imprinting on his personality the love of travel, exploration and adventure. I will eat my hat if he turns round at 25 and say "I hate travelling!!!" haha. I think you are BRILLIANT parents, and your children are SO clever to have chosen you both!!! xx

Lots of good tips here and fun to watch. I am a grandma x4 now but travelled a lots with kids and grandkids, mostly road trips but some flights too. They are all seasoned, enthusiastic travellers now.,

It's such a joy watching the changes in the little man. Children are way more adaptable than adults think. If you confine them, I think you stunt their curiosity and their courage to explore. There was one shot of him with some crazy hair. I used to call it bed head, some of the best memories. Even though he won't remember, you have these videos to show him. Can't wait until Sunday. I watched the video about the chicken and laughed hysterically. Stay safe and happy exploring.

Really enjoy your vlog! I'm a grandmother but I remember well taking our boys out all over Scotland where we lived for 16 years. BTW, we made the decision to never carry our children on our shoulders when our oldest fell off and fractured his skull. Of course accidents happen, but I always share our experience in hopes that it will help someone else. Safe travels, you're an amazing family!

I've been watching this clip now few times and taking your brains how to prepare for our first big family trip outside of the European continent (yikes)! 😅 Thank you so much for all the fab tips and inspiration, not just in this video - it was in fact your Glencoe video which inspired and encouraged us to take a road trip in Scotland when our son was 10 weeks old. Really great to hear from you and to hear that you’re headed off in a van with your baby 😊 in Scotland we added some extra insulation over the windows and gaps with lots of blankets, and also wrapped the little dude up nice and warm. A diesel heater would have been handy so something to think about for you guys maybe? Great to have you along for our adventures. 😊 ☀️

I was looking for a video like that. All the others are more like going on a plane with Babys as a vacation mode. Like staying in hotels and going to the beach. Which is nice but not my way of living. I don't live in a van an usually travel by train but I love being on the go with my kids. It gets more complicated when they get taller - my oldest is 4 now - but also more fun since most of the time my husband can't join. I'm curious about your next videos and will subscribe. Thanks!

That’s my worry with doing this but we have to do stay together as a family because his work is everywhere and I’m remote.

@@TheNewbys How did you get no pushback. I'm still pregnant and get negative comments about the lifestyle being unstable and definite insinuations that we should purchase property and live everyone else's life.
My baby was unconsolably screamcrying for 5month staight, I could not even do the grocery shopping without rushing out as quickly as possible not to disturb others. She was a constantly fussing baby after that phase and now she is a whining trantruming toddler. We booked a wellness trip, ended up coming home after 2nights it was that awful. How the heck are we going to ever travel anywhere with a kid like that?😭 Any tips?
Hi Réka, Great to hear from you, thanks for watching friend. We are so lucky with Crusoe that he is a very chilled little dude. Having said that, he is currently having a fit of rage that only a ten month could possibly have, and for what… we have no idea, except to say it’s quite remarkable that lungs on a baby that small can much such a noise. Just moments earlier he was “dancing” to the lion sleeps tonight. Who on earth knows what goes through little peoples brains. Like you we just each day as it comes, making the most of quiet moments and feeling puzzled at some of the loud moments. We can’t think of any really solid advice to help, except maybe trying to start out with day trips every weekend to get her into the habit of being on the move, and try and find things she might enjoy while you’re out - play parks, petting zoos and places with other kids maybe? Good luck friend, parenting isn’t always easy and we hope she settles into it for you soon 😊
