First few times seeing it at 6 mana im like well its pretty ok, I love that card.
The Rooftop Assassin is actually pretty sweet with Lazav. You can make a hugh lifelink flyer of him.
The avarice was indeed insatiable this video. I think you had enough value in hand to just eat your veggies and tutor for a swamp many times.
Kaervek is very black mana hungry since most crimes ask for black mana to then cast a black card.

this deck needs something like 10 black sources, 7 or 8 green sources, and 3 blue sources. It was certainly a mistake to play 6 swamps you need at least 7.
I saw an Avarice plus Bronco deck where you Avarice a card with a huge mana cost right before saddling Bronco to guarantee they lose a bunch of life.
Would this have been a better deck if he had 1 more black source and 1 less green source? reason i am asking is that he had way more black pips compared to green pips on cards and that he also had the ability to cast black cards from graveyard which gave him turns where he ideally would doublespell with 2 black spells
100% correct. He has three double black spells and no double green spells, he has 9 black spells vs only 5 green spells with mana cost 3 or less, and with the dual lands he's running 8 and 8. He absolutely should have been running one more swamp and one fewer forest.

I had a spicy dimir splashing cruel ultimatum deck that went 3-3 and all my loses where due to mana screw or flood. The one that sent me over the edge was I drew all my swamps and mountains and never saw an island…. Then drafted again and went 0-3 losing to the saddle deck 3x in a row 🙄

Not taking a stoic sphinx when ya already have a blue dual land is craxy. That card is nuts
The blue black deck would have been insane in that seat. Wouldn't be surprised if it's correct to dump the green in that spot and take the sphinx.

My take on the format is that crime deserts are overdraft and centipedes underdraft.
Ok goina say this now, you could have just avariced for a swamp and gotten to cast it later with Karavek. Holding on to it for that long was just greed. But then again, that's what I'm here for. Upon further inspection it looks like needed to run more swamps, arena giving you that 8/8 split when nearly all your early plays are going to require swamps is kinda crazy.

Not 100% sure how the mathology works, but I think snake skin veil is one of those cards whose win/cast percentage is misleading. People will only cast it, if it's relevant and in many games it will sit in their hands as a brick bc they don't have a creature or op has no removal. And correct me if I'm wrong, those games don't impact the stats. The card itself doesn't win games, but the games in which is is cast trend to be games that are won.

It’s a games in hand (GIH) win rate, so it tracks across all games it is drawn even if not played. Card’s just great in the format, period. Makes more sense when you realize this is a bomb/removal skewed format. It’s full of big bombs that will win the game if unanswered (particuarly big green creatures that will just kill them), and is slow enough they are often able to be cast. You need removal to not lose to them usually, and snakeskin veil just sinks the knife in deeper in response.

@@chandir7752 Appreciate you making the edit! You hedged properly with "I think" as well so don't feel bad. It's a reasonable assumption, the card is way overperforming. Though it's only the 3rd best green common and you can overload on them. Funnily enough, white's version in Take Up the Shield is its #1 common 🤣.
actually i would have considered to sac treasure for double black and destroy my own paladin not to give the chance to oppo to spam paladins with the equipment

just deleted arena because this sort of things occur too frequently. I can accept that for each five or more matches there is one that I lack my major land (in double color deck), but this shit occurs for each three or less matches, plus some flooding cases, it is purely disaster.
It’s soooo frustrating for sure. I had to take a long break because it really got to me. No shame in saying it’s just not fun at the time, I think most get that feeling at some point.
I find Nummy’s “that’s magic baby” to be somewhat helpful at least, but when it’s too much in a row I just need to step away to preserve my sanity.

Would love to see an influencer in a pro tour draft. Hate to say it, but luck does help a lot at Nummy's level in a live draft. I think he's met the skill level when on his A game and not distracted. Was wild to see a well known pro get trapped into playing red because of his pack 1 pick one with very little opportunity to splash anything interesting.
Numot had a Pro tour appearance for PT dominaria, he qualified through a MOCS Open. He managed to get through to day 2 and ended up 9-7.
Watching him go nuts about not having a second swamp well at the same time having a treasure in play... Massively stressed me out

3 mana draw 3 is decent in budget edh, with the upside of a possible tutor if you have extra mana. It's not terrible in every format.

I dont understand why you like rise fo the varmints so much. especially you are cutting so many creatures. i understand it in a creature heavy deck or if you at least have lots of self mill. but here i dont get it. especially with back for more, surprise, fight spells etc i feel like you want to be playing a few more creatures at least.
